We were there when the restaurant first opened - actually the soft opening. It was one day before it got its beer and wine license, so no wine with dinner, and no cream for the coffee! But the food was delicious.
Fast-forward to closing night. A couple of owners later, the addition of a great bar and music every night. But the food still the best Italian meals in town.
That, and the service, the music, the neighborhood feel ..... you will be enormously missed.
Our dining experience was VERY substandard in all aspects except for our service. Our server was trying hard to make our experience positive; however, the food (everything we ordered) was less than acceptable. The cost per person did not match the quality of our experience. With all of this being said, I do not think it matters because this restaurant is no longer in business. The evening we were there was the last night UVA was open for business. Maybe that is a blessing. My past experiences at UVA have all been positive. It makes it difficult for me to be writing such a negative review but it expresses my true feelings. Also, I found my choice in restaurants to be very embarrassing because I was treating friends to a dinner out.
So sad to see Uva leave. Thank you for one last great meal
This was the next to the last night before Uva closed the doors. A shame to loose this Italian in Napa!
Pizza shared as an appetizer was excellent. Lasagna was very good, but not great. Service was outstanding. Very crowded at 6pm on a Saturday.
It is very, very noisy, especially when combined with the music. But, the food and service were both excellent. Pity it's now closed.
We miss all of you.
Too bad they are closing. Great food fun music and good bar !😢
We had a great dinner that started with a delicious beet salad. The service at Uva Trattoria was amazing and definitely a team effort.
So saddened that UVA is closing. It was our final meal there and will so miss the staff and owners terrific attention. The ambiance is fabulous as well.
Loved everything about this place except the noise level. We all strained to have a conversation over the four seat table.
My mom planned a girls trip in Napa and my girlfriend recommended UVA Trattoria for dinner along with a couple other places. We chose this place because they had live music which we all love!!! Our experience was AMAZING from the very beginning. We didn't realize when booking a table that they had 2 dinning rooms, one with live music and the other was a more intimate experience. Because of how busy they where and the fact that we didn't specify, they reserved a table for us on the quiet side. We asked if we could change it and get seated on the side with music. They responded very kindly and got us seated very quickly even though it was packed!! On top of all that they gave us a complimentary appetizer for our patience. The waiter was super nice and the food was mouth watering!! Over all we loved this place and it will now be at the top of all of our lists of places to recommend to people who are visiting the area. AND of course we will be back the next time in Napa.
Wonderful service and amazing food. Went for a birthday celebration for a friend. Had great weekly specials in addition to the regular menu. Would highly recommend and plan on making it a stop on our next trip back.
The menu was creative and well executed. Our table was available on time. The service was friendly and helpful and not intrusive. A big plus is that you can bring in your own wine and there is no corkage fee for the first bottle.
Excellent service, phenomenal food.
The halibut was fabulous! All of the food was great. Loved the whole experience!
While the place is a well designed and comfortable site located in a nice city, the food and the service were terrible. The salad had some stale leaves that the waiter said was the kind of lettuce. I had to turn on my phone light to show him that it was spoiled. Service was lacking. We had to wait for everything. Busy day? If you expect a Valentine's crowd you should prepare for this. The music would have been great but it was too noisy. I wish I could be more positive but we were disappointed.
Great meal, knowledgeable wait staff. We had a reservation and our table was ready on time on a very busy night. We are looking for a reason to go back, it's worth the drive.
A nice spot just a short distance (about 2 or 3 blocks) from main downtown area and seems to get overlooked as neighborhood looks a little gritty, not like the tourist areas.
The restaurant is a bit loud in part because of a large bar area and live entertainment -- acoustic guitar the night we were there. We asked for a quiet table and were seated in a nice small dining room away from the bar area and it was very pleasant.
My wife had a nice grilled Alaskan Halibut; I had wild boar ragu over lovely creamy risotto. Both meals were very good.
Service was prompt and pleasant. Would go again.
Valentines day dinner was amazing. Food was delicious, ambiance and music was enjoyable, definitely a place to be.
I reserved for dinner on a night with advertised Jazz. I requested a table near the music because that is what we were wanting in our evening. I left my phone number and email. When I arrived (about and hour after the band was supposed to have started) they informed me that the music was cancelled. I wish they had sent an email to me informing of that fact prior to my driving all the way to Napa from San Francisco. We cancelled the reservation and found someplace else to dine, then found another establishment in Sonoma for Jazz. But our plans were ruined.
If you are going to have reservations, you should honor then and not give someone without reservations a tablessing ahead of a person who have been waiting 25 minutes beyond their reservation time ...been to this restaurant in the past ...but will Never return
We had a reservation for 6 at 7:30. We were not seated until 8:00pm. They had a table for 8 that would have fitted our party but they wouldn't give us the table. The party of 8 showed up way after us and they seated them leaving us still to wait. They offered us a free bottle of wine for $50 which was nice but we were ready to eat and preferred just getting a table. I'm not a person that leaves reviews but wanted, in this case, for people to see what happened.
Disappointing overall. It was so loud we couldn't even carry on a conversation. Our table was in the middle of the room and it was super busy around us and one of the staff members bumped my water glass as he squeezed by, spilling it all over. The gnocchi came out cold, so I sent it back and opted for a salad instead since I didn't want to wait another 20+ minutes for another entree. The salad was actually really delicious and I enjoyed every bite of it. We will definitely not go back. It was just too loud and chaotic in there and the food wasn't good enough to make up for it.
Loved the atmosphere and had a wonderful waitress who took the time to explain the courses. Everything was DELICIOUS! Added bonus was the live music.
Great meal, attentive and friendly staff. We will definitely eat here again.
What a wonderful birthday for my wife! The meal was amazing (half chicken and the salmon alfredo). Amazing!!!! Our waitress was so terrific. Friendly, attentive and the music was great.
Everything was great, margherita pizza had way too much Parmesan though, couldn't taste any of the other ingredients. Everything else was wonderful
We had a great time. The pasta was cooked beautifully and their banana creme brûlée was to die for!
Uva's is one of our favorite restaurants in the Wine country. You made a great choice in moving Marteen up front. He really knows how to treat customers.
Keep up the good work.
