Uva Ratings and Reviews
This place is a real find. The food is really interesting; some of it classic Italian and the rest imaginatively prepared and Italian-inspired. The wine list is first rate. We ate downstairs, which was small and cozy, and the service was great. This is not a place for a quiet date, but it's a lot of fun. We'll be back.
The service was excellent, and we were seated at a quiet table by Giacomo who is very nice and friendly, and let these two weary older people sit down a bit early. The food is superb, from my fettucini with shrimp and zucchini to my husband's very tender stuffed chicken breast to a lovely almond tart for dessert. The wine list is extensive from very reasonable to appropriately high- priced with everything in between. The front room is more bustling and noisy with a bar and the backroom ( where we were) quieter. We go there almost every time we're in NYC. Highly recommend.
We were in “the garden”, the weather permitted and it was nice. We had a reservation and we waited 20 min before to get a table, the person was stressed and we need to ask for update, she got help and advices. The waitress was very nice and helpful to choose the vine. We enjoyed our dishes and dessert. The service was great.
We had our wedding reception dinner here in May of ‘17 and then returned to NYC for the Macy’s parade. Once again Uva was spectacular. We appreciate the hard working teams of players that make the magic happen. The food & service will keep us coming back as often as possible. Even now in November our wedding guests still rave about their experience we all shared with Uva.
Amazing!!!!!! My boyfriend and I did pre-Thanksgiving date night here and fell in love... We're going to do a monthly date night at Uva from now on; it was that good. I had the pasta special, which was green long pasta (like linguine) in a pink sauce with salmon and grapefruit. Steven had the paparadelle with veal. We started with burrata (so delish) and the fungi bruschetta (holy moly!!) and we were stuffed... Great spot for a date, dinner with a friend, etc. Service was remarkable, as well :)
Fantastic food! The polenta appetizer is amazing! Service was very attentive. Everything we had was fantastic! The meatballs were fantastic and the tiramisu was simply delicious! I was craving delicious authentic Italian food and they did not disappoint! I highly recommend this place.
came here for an early celebration to a friends birthday. Heard a lot about the spot before coming and was eager to try. Came on a Monday which i didn't know they had meatball Monday's. Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which was phenomenal. Split an Italian red with it and that was good too. They have quite a long list of wines. I'm not a big spaghetti fan but i would definitely come here again. All prices were very reasonable. relatively small place but the back yard area (indoor) was very nice a seemed like a little place in Italy. Bathrooms were 3 single rooms which helped the line flow. Easily able to get seats after 9pm.
Reservation for 8:30, did not have a place for us to sit. We had to wait in the front entryway, there were unused seats right in front of us but they were reserved. By 9pm we left because there was still no progress and the hostess could not tell us when we would be able to get in. At one point she said “tomorrow” with a chuckle and smirk and walked away. We decided to leave. We went a block down the street to “Boqueria” and were blown away by their service, food, and ambiance. I️ would not recommend Uva to anyone and will steer my clients away from this restaurant in the future.
Great food so I would definitely go back but the service was slow - friendly but very slow. Our drinks took forever (almost came out the same time as our food). Bread to the table came way after we placed our food order but way before our drinks. We had to flag the server for another round of drinks and again were never asked if we would like anything else. And the drink I ordered, wasn't the drink I got.
The food was good though, so I would return - maybe just for lunch or dinner this time - definitely not brunch.
The food was amazing as usual, though the noise level was particularly high this visit.
We'd made a reservation for 8:30pm, and we still had to wait quite a bit of time to get seated. We grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited, but there was no space to stand or wait and we kept getting banged into and our drinks spilled. There were two "reserved spots" at the bar, which I thought was rude given that we had nowhere to stand.
Once seated, you will have an excellent meal. Just don’t know if it is worth the jostling, being elbowed, and having the hostess say, (when you inquire about how much longer for your table that you have a reservation for, and have been waiting for more than 15-30 minutes), “well, EVERYONE has a reservation. Just wait”. They shouldn’t take reservations if they can’t honor them. So...great wait service and excellent food, but very unpleasant pre-meal experience.
Utterly disappointing. Slow service. Food was very overcooked. Worst eggplant parmiagana I ever had, very soggy, with "chef boy-ar-dee" sauce, apologies to "chef boy-ar-dee". Had enjoyed the food previously but it sure went downhill in a major way. Terrible, just terrible!
