Many vegetables are used in the Urfa cuisine, such as the "Ecır," the "Kenger," and the "İsot", the legendary local red capsicum that is a smaller and darker.
Urfa is a big user of clarified butter, made exclusively from sheep's milk.
At Urfa bistro we will try our best to use local products to create dishes as same as prepared in Urfa.
Delicious food and deserts that are tasty but not too sugary.
One of my favorite places for lunch. Love everything about it.
Urfa Bistro was really, really having an off night. They gave me someone else's order, then brought the actual plate I ordered. The lamb kebab was so dry and tough. This was why I stopped going to Urfa for a number of years. Then I gave it another try and it was fabulous. But now, another bad night. I don't like the inconsistency. They must have had a different chef - honestly, I don't know. My friend's food was so mushy and wet she didn't want to eat it. Both of our meals were really 'off'. Sometimes this place is freaking AWESOME and sometimes it freaking SUCKS.
Urfa Bistro - get your act together. No one wants to deal with inconsistent food. Make it wonderful time after time after time. No off nights. No screw ups.
We love the food at Urfa and their service is very good.
Delicious fresh fish (Branzino dinner), Beyti Kebab and Maussaka, . Went Sunday night for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Quiet, great service and tables were all full by 8PM.
Los Altos residents for over 30 years and this is now our new favorite restaurant downtown. Any time we have dinner with friends that have not dined there, we suggest Urfa and it has NEVER disappointed. I don't want to give it too much press or we won't be able to get in when we want!!! The food is authentic and filled with flavor. Our favorites are literally everything but we always start with the cold appetizer platter and just keep going. Mine go-to is the Branzino and my husbands always gets a kabob. You can actually hear the people you are dining with which is an added bonus!
We had a lovely meal, and our server was very kind and accomodating. Branzino was excellent! Wine was not over-priced and we had a delicious Rose. Two small suggestions: Cooler temp in Summer, it was pretty warm inside with windows that could not be opened. Also, seemed a little petty to charge $9 for plates to serve our birthday cake which we asked to cut and serve ourselves, especially when our bill for 6 came to almost $350. Overall, highly recommend Urfa Bistro!
Great find. Great food and service! We are going back!
First time dining here, brought the in-laws. We arrived at 6:15 on a Sunday evening, only a few other customers were in the restaurant. Several times during our visit there were extremely loud clanging of dirty dishes very close to us. We were given a list of specials, including halibut. The server (who took a while to get to us) raved about the halibut and said they get it daily at 3pm. Two of us ordered the halibut...then the waiter comes back and tells us they have sold out!!! Had moussakka instead, was just okay, nothing special. The cold appetizer plate was fair - not sure if everything was made fresh or just came from Safeway deli.
Good and reliable mediteranean food. The apetizer plate is a nice combination with enough for two people, the kebabs were tasty and with nice grilled veggies.
Great food, classic Mediterranean food
Still one of my favorite spots. Sadly they sent our food to a different table and so we were waiting 40 minutes for our lunch. And back to work meant rushed eating.
Lovely evening with my daughter. Food and wine suggestions were excellent.
Food was prepared beautifully and very pleasing to the eye. We eat here quite often and have never been disappointed. Always recommend it to friends and family.
Urfa Bsitro was a delightful, low key night out. We really enjoyed it and plan to return.
The Food is delicious ad the portion size a bit on the small side!!!!
Been here several times and Urfa does not disappoint. The food was outstanding and service excellent. Highlights were the grilled octopus appetizer, the lamb chops, kebabs and petrale sole. The kunefe dessert is always a hit and the poached pear was delicious.
Loved everything about it! Yum! Looking forward to getting back there very soon.
The portions are on the smaller size!!!! We were disappointed that oue dishes had small to medium sizes. Esp. the Mousaka
first date was fun :)
Hands down the best restaurant in Los Altos. Fabulous salads, and seafood entrees. Beautifully presented and graciously served. Urfa Bistro is a real winner - never disappoints.
This place is growing on us quickly. This is a great Go to neighborhood place!!!
Our visit this week was our second visit and we will certainly be going back
again and again. Haven't been there for lunch, but certainly can't imagine
it being less than dinner. Food is fresh and beautifully presented. Took photos
of special salad and two desserts which were so artistically presented. Servers
very friendly and it's nice to have a place to go that doesn't charge you an arm
and a leg! High recommend. gk
always good food and great service we feel very blessed to have this excellent Ufrain Los Altos!
Excellent food and service.
One of our party had some dietary restrictions and the staff and chef did an excellent job of accommodating our needs.
I came from out of state and made reservations for a party of 8. Service and food were fabulous.
4 of us had the grilled salmon - absolutely tender, it came with grilled vegetables and rice pilaf
1 of us had the Lamb Sautée and 3 of us had the special fish Branzino (cooked to perfection and tasty).
Additionally, we ordered a green salad and special of the day soup (I didn't catch the name as one of my friends ordered it but it looked delicious).
Everyone said how wonderful their meal was, some of them, it was their first trip (and not to be their last) to this restaurant.
Lastly, we ordered dessert:
Pear (soaked in red wine) with vanilla ice cream
The desserts were to die for; we all shared and not one drop was left over.
It was worth the 5 hour drive to get to this restaurant and it won't be the last. I'll definitely spread the word to my friends living in the Palo Alto/Los Altos area.
Fantastic food and so was the service (had to ask once to fill our water glasses but other than that, it was fine).
Returned to Urfa Bistro for mid-week lunch after thoroughly enjoying lunch with our party of 4 this past weekend. Great, fresh tasting fare with lots of tasty non-meat options. We split several scrumptious dishes, and especially loved the gazpacho, grilled octopus appetizer, and the falafel wrap. Be sure to ask to substitute the grilled veggies for the side salad.
I dine at Urfa Bistro quite a bit. I really enjoy your delicious food, nice ambience, and great service!
I love the grilled salmon, my husband loves the Urfa kabob. We both love the special salad and the poached pear dessert. Service is fast. Food is well seasoned. The servers and owner are lovely. Urfa is our favorite go to local resto!
Great neighborhood dining spot with delicious and creative daily specials.
I have eaten here for lunch a no. of times over the last few years but this was the first time I had dinner. The food is always quite good. Service is always excellent.
Lovely food and friendly service.
Urfa Bistro is our "go to" place for a never-fail great meal in Los Altos. The front room can be a bit crowded, but the back "tent" is always comfortable and quieter. They serve easily the best falafel I have ever had, and the lamb shanks are to-die-for!
The food and service are always very good. The presentation of the food is really impressive along with the taste. The servers care about your dining experience. I highly recommend Urfa Bistro.
My family and friends have been dining here for months and we have not been disappointed. Food is always delicious and the service is great.
Really glad that they have put some sound dampening material on the ceiling! Had a great branzino and we appreciated that they split the dishes up in the kitchen for the items that we were sharing!
It is a lovely, small restaurant. Aside from the food being quite good, the service is really excellent. The waiters/waitresses are always so codial and accommodating. They have limited hours for lunch, so be
aware. I would highly recommend them if you like medditeranean food.
Excellent food. Our first time eating here. We hope to eat here again during our next visit to California
