Many vegetables are used in the Urfa cuisine, such as the "Ecır," the "Kenger," and the "İsot", the legendary local red capsicum that is a smaller and darker.
Urfa is a big user of clarified butter, made exclusively from sheep's milk.
At Urfa bistro we will try our best to use local products to create dishes as same as prepared in Urfa.
Grilled octopus, honeydew, arugula, cherry tomatoes, roasted garlic, olive tapenade
Eggplant, potato, zucchini, garlic, mushrooms, pine nut, bell peppers, béchamel and marinara sauce, rice
Layers of sliced eggplant, potato and ground beef topped with béchamel, mozzarella, and marinara sauce served with rice
If the food came out sooner it would be 4 stars all the way
They have a nice outdoor set up now, with a powerful heater (important for me). Food was excellent and service is always superb! Octopus appetizer and knefe for dessert are to die for.
Great service! Food was deeeeelish!!
The cold appetizer plate was good except the dolmas were a little uninspired. My friend liked her wrap very much.
This place is well on its way to becoming a neighborhood gem. Excellent food and service, and lots of variety. I’m pleased to see a successful Middle Eastern restaurant in Los Altos, and will keep helping Urfa to thrive. A suggestion: ask your individual customers how they like their lamb cooked. Mine was too dry the day I had the shish plate, but my dining companion’s lamb wrap on a previous visit was cooked to pink perfection (which is what I would have preferred). Still, glad to see lamb gracing the menu!
This was the first dine in restaurant since Covid-19. We enjoyed our meals very much, as always at Urfa. Quality was just as good as before pandemic.
Don't be fooled by the simple restaurant decor, because the food is outstanding.
My Moussaka was good but the Lamb my wife ordered was overcooked and tough, the salad was mediocre. My two friends enjoyed their Wraps but also thought the lamb was overcooked.
Fabulous as always. Outstanding food and fabulous wait staff. Highly recommend!
Zubi and team are just the best. The food is awesome. We had the crab cakes, branzino, lamb, and poached pear ....delicious as always. It’s a go to local restaurant for us and we have always had a great evening.
We were pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian options. And the food was good as well!
I went with my wife and 3 kids on a Saturday night. We arrived at 6:45 and sat in the back where there was good spacing and plastic shields between tables and good ventilation. Our server was very friendly, but it took a long time for our food to arrive. She said they were understaffed and also overwhelmed with take out orders. We finished our entrees around 8:30 and skipped dessert because it was already late, especially for 3 kids. The food was good but a little pricey. They probably need to turn down some take out orders so that they can better serve the dine-in customers, or add some staff.
It's outdoor dining, so very quiet. The roasted game hen was not only tasty but the presentation was stellar -- bird bits on mushroom ravioli with colorful veg. Very well done!
This is our favorite local restaurant. It is family owned and operated. The food is consistently good, presented attractively, and generously portioned. We are not usually brunch or lunch people but Urfa makes a delicious Mediterranean omelet. We really indulge when we have the hot appetizers along with a full entee.
Great food, great service! The perfect solution for COVID blues-take out or outdoor dining.
I love the authenticity, presentation, and full flavors of food at Urfa. The owner and staff are extremely attentive and friendly. Their food is consistently fabulous and outdoor dining is beautifully set up. We enjoyed the experience thoroughly and have been repeat customers.
Had a lovely lunch outdoors. Food was great and we felt very safe! Love the new parklet with the wood flooring.
Excellent food and nice complimentary Greek after dinner sweet wine from owner was delicious?
Food was excellent. Service was fine. Prices are reasonable compared to several Greek Restaurants in Palo Alto with comparable menus. Outdoor tables are too small to provide safe social distance for separate individuals, but spacing between tables is OK so the outdoor tables work for COVID-podded folks. The lentil soup I had ws lukewarm, otherwise delicious. The Octopus appetizer was wonderful.
Urfa Bistro is what every neighborhood restaurant should be like. The food is excellent, daily specials vary keeping it interesting, the service is friendly, prices are reasonable, and the kitchen is both consistent and often adds a surprising flares to dishes.
Service was great. Food were fantastic. Staff did a good job observing safety. Every table is far distanced from each other.
Food has been consistently EXCELLENT!! Grilled veggies always a winner!!
Great place for lunch and shared plates. Amazing Turkish coffee was a treat.
Delicious food that's plated / presented beautifully. One of our favorite restaurants to go to. Excellent service as well.
My husband and I have had dinner here twice in recent weeks. The new seating area in the street is lovely, with planters and wine barrels and Plexiglas between our table and any passing cars or pedestrians. Service was excellent and the food was superb and plentiful. Warm bread arrives in a little paper bag - touchless and holds the heat. Highly recommend Urfa!
Urfa had fantastic food. We each had the combo appetizer plate, that was more than sufficient for my whole dinner. It included the best roasted lamb riblet I have ever tasted , 2 spanakopita, 2 succulent falafel, 2 grilled prawns, and 2 feta rolls served with tahini-yogurt sauce.
Delicious Mediterranean food!!!
One of the best in the area!!!
We love this place. It's one of our go-to spots. Our favorite main course dishes are Lamb shank and the jot appetizer sampler. Last time we were there, we had one of their specials whole branzino with roasted vegetables. Delicious!!! We never leave the place without ordering their kunefe( Turkish Sweet cheese dessert).
Service is excellent, and they make you feel at home. With COVID, they seat you on the main street in Los Altos, and it is a friendly vibe with people walking by. Try it if you are in the mood for Mediterranean food with a feel of home cooking.
Urfa has outdoor dining to comport with the current Covid-19 safety requirements. We were seated well away from anyone else. We have been to the restaurant many times pre-Covid and never been disappointed.
We started with an IPA (me) and the other half had their Efes stout. The appetizer was the grilled octopus perfectlyl cooked (if overcooked it's like a product of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.). The octopus is served with arugula and some cherry tomatoes sliced in half and a rich tapenade. I got the lamb saute (think lamb stew) with rice. The lamb was moist, soft and very flavorful. The other half ordered a special of the day, a risotto with grilled veg. It was cheesy, complete with a giant parmesan chip. The menu said there was truffle, which often is overdone, but not here... the truffle note was perfect. If you order risotto, be prepared to wait while it's prepared so that the rice can absorb the saucy goodness. The food was sufficiently plentiful we had to get to-go boxes.
Everything was great. They made a beautiful set up for their outdoor seating on the shut down street. Our waitress was fantastic! Food was incredible, even the bread was killer!
Love the service and food , great place !
I brought a friend to Urfa to celebrate her birthday. We loved the food and were both impressed by the Covid-19 safety measures. The owner was attentive and very thoughtful- allowing us to stay late to continue chatting and even gave us a glass of wine and dessert on the house. We will both be back.
Food is always so tasty and fresh.
First business lunch in awhile. Great and safe outdoor seating. Food and service excellent. Highly recommend.
Outstanding food, and felt very safe for dining during COVID
This is our very favorite restaurant in downtown Los Altos. During non covid times we love the intimate ambience of the inside with very attentive and knowledgable staff! We ordered "to go" in the beginning and were impressed by their standards. Now it is lovely to eat in the street as they have created charming dividers for their diners. Be patient at this time as service is much more challenging, but safety is key!!!
In the COVID-age, the service is a bit slow. The food was delicious.
This was a Covid 19 outdoor dining experience. For the first and only time we felt 100% safe eating out. We so appreciated the partitions and the distance between tables. It's so important to feel safe so one can enjoy the food and the service. Kudos and than you to the ownership.
Urfa's outdoor dining is delightful! My wife and I enjoyed everything including their delicious desserts...
We were a party of six and had a lovely time. The food was really delicious from appetizers to main dishes and dessert. Two of us especially enjoyed the branzino so much that we asked the chef how he cooked it. It was the best I've ever hand. Service was great too. We were pleased that we selected Urfa to celebrate two birthdays in our group. Highly recommend!
