Our restaurant menus and décor are inspired by the culinary spoils of the Pacific Northwest, and we take great pride in working with our local farmers and producers to ensure quality and dependability. Our lounge has become a neighbourhood favourite for happy hour or pre-theater drinks and bites. Our team of mixologists create one-of-a-kind specialty and classic cocktails to pair with our small plate offerings.

Urbane Ratings and Reviews
We were a group of four that went before the Paramount show, Hamilton. Arrived at 6 pm and dinner took ridiculously long to arrive with excuses like "they're plating it right now" and 15 minutes later it still hadn't arrived. Food arrived around 7:30 pm and we had to choke it down to leave in time to walk to the show. The cod plate I ordered was lukewarm to not warm, and seemed like it had been sitting a while, not worth $30. They "took a round off our bill," which amounted to two glasses of wine since there were only two people drinking, and bill was over $200. Also, told them ahead of time, via phone call, that we had two people who were celebrating birthdays and they did not even acknowledge during or after dinner. Not that there would have been any time after dinner. Definitely not going back or recommending.
Mediocre dining experience and service in overpriced venue with limited choices. Martini came warm, creme brulee was cold. Convenient for pre-theater dining but not worth the cost. Also extremely loud, couldn't hear each other across the table. We won't be going again.
We hit up Urbane before a show at the Paramount. Thankfully they take reservations and are skilled at getting a great meal (and drinks) to the table in time for those attending the nearby show. We had the citrus salmon and it was incredibly flavorful. Next time I hope to have time to try something off the dessert menu. ;)
The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. We mentioned that we had Hamilton tickets and they kept an eye on the clock for us so that we could just focus on the food and have a lovely time. They helped make our evening get off to a perfect start.
Worked well for pre-theater dinner... We arrived at 6:00 and were seated immediately. Our waiter promptly asked if we were going to the theater (7:30) then politely suggested that we should order as soon as possible to avoid eating in a rush. The food was a bit on the slow side to come out so I was grateful for the suggestion to order right away... we were able to eat comfortably and still be on our way by 7:00. The food was good - but the menu is a bit more limited than what you see online (no sliders, burger, or mac n cheese which were items that I had in mind for the teen with us - but they were satisfied with the fish and chips so it was fine.) I anticipated small portions, based on other reviews, but found the portion sizes to be just right... we actually walked away with fully bellies and food left on the table.
Sorry, I really can’t give this place a very good review! Cold coffee, food was luke warm, small portions and just not very tasty. However, it was expensive!!! Yikes! For what we got, it was outrageous! Now, the staff was friendly, and fairly attentive, but it just couldn’t make up for the poor dining experience. Won’t be back, and certainly wouldn’t recommend!
If I could give the service a 10 out of 5 I would. Food was pretty good, but it’s the service team will bring me back. Aside from just being incredibly polite and on top of things, I had to leave for a phone call while food was being delivered. They brought my plate back to keep it warm and met me as I walked back in with a warm plate and a fresh cup of coffee. Beyond impressed.
I feel the food was good. But the general wait staff could pay attention to their section more so. Meaning that if they are providing service to another table in their section, they could/should glance at other tables when they are there to see if there are other needs. The bus-staff was excellent and should not be added into the above comment.
We went prior to a show at the Paramount Theatre. The restaurant is nice and open but does not feel like a dining hall. Good ambiance and quiet enough that we could talk easily. The service was very prompt. We were there at 6:00 so the rush had not happened yet. Food was outstanding! We both loved the choices and portions. Their cocktails were great and priced as expected. We will be going back!
Food was OK, but service was strange. Wait staff seems to be trained to look away from the tables. Twice we had to walk over to the hostess to request things that normally a waiter would provide (a wine list and, later, a knife). But we couldn't get the attention of the waiter! And to make things worse, this restaurant add an automatic 20% service charge to the bill. Normally I am supportive of this service charge to ensure that restaurant staff are adequately compensated, but this was an example of how that system can fail by removing the incentive for providing excellent service!
For a hotel restaurant, Urbane is surprisingly warm and comfortable - definitely not cookie cutter. The food and drinks are tasty, and the service is personable. We were there for a pre-theater dinner, and when we were seated at 6pm (7:30 show) the server asked about that, so they knew we had a timeline. That's why I was surprised when parties seated after us got their meals and were done eating before we were served our meals (which were actually starters) at 7pm - after the server stopped by to drop the check "so you can get to your show" - and when I mentioned that we hadn't received our meals yet, she said "oh, I just fired that back!" as if that was supposed to help. It was disappointing, because we had to rush to finish in order to make it to the theater. We'll go back, but if it's pre-theater, I'll be clearer on our needs.
We had a bad experience. First it took 15 minutes after we were seated for waitress to acknowledge us. We finally ordered drinks and an appetizer. The appetizer showed but it still took another 5 minutes before our drinks arrived. Our waitress was friendly..maybe a little too friendly considering they were obviously not keeping up. The food was fair..nothing special. The final straw was the add the tip for you. I tip well for good service and food...in this case we received neither.
Restaurant was extremely noisy, but bar was quiet and pleasant and offered full dinner menu. Food was excellent and our server very attentive. Due to a mix up, one of our appetizers arrived later than the other, so she comped it; an unnecessary but very appreciated gesture. We chose Urbane for its menu and proximity to the Paramount theater as we were seeing a show after dinner. Very happy with our choice and would do it again!
The food was wonderful. However, we specifically told our server that we needed to make the theatre by 8pm. We sat down at 5:45. At 7:30 our entrees still had not come. In the end, they brought them and comped the entrees but it ended up making a fun night a bit stressful. And we weren't able to get dessert or really enjoy the food. Unfortunate ending when we were there with plenty of time to spare.
This was not my reservation. The person that signed up used an email address that resolved to mine. I don't know if they never received an email but I had the opportunity to cancel this reservation without the person's knowledge. If you're going to send an email with this capability, please make sure that you confirm that the appropriate person received it
I’ll keep it pretty short. We stopped by for a New Year’s Eve brunch.
The menu had a lot of potential. When our food arrived, the portions were surprisingly scant. I ordered the migas. What came was what looked like a small scoop of tortilla chip casserole, but poorly seasoned. A feat considering it had chorizo. Oh, and three small flour tortillas - store bought - and sort of dry.
But the part that really got me was the service. Our server came by the table three times, in an hour. When he was there, he was fairly perfunctory and brief. Considering they have a mandatory 20% gratuity (which I am otherwise ok with), you’d think they would provide better service.
There are a lot of places to eat in the area, I’d check them out first.
Go to Urbane if you want to spend over $200 for an average meal and be treated poorly.
We called well ahead to let them know we may be 10 min late. We were told by an indifferent employee that if we did not arrive on time we would be moved to the end of the wait list. We inquired about parking .
We arrived on time but the snobbish matradee told us to wait in the bar until a table was available. We would have been penalized for being a few minutes late but they could care less about making us wait over 30 min for our reservation.
The bartender was uninterested in the clients or explaining the drink selections. He didnt check if we enjoyed our drinks (my house wine was not as he described it). I requested the bar tab be put on the dinner bill but the bartender pushed us pay now. Likely something with tips and the 20% surcharge. We were there during the "daily" happy hour which was not in effect that day.
We shared the mushroom risotto as an appetizer and it was brought as requested. Well prepared but average overall. The table waiter was the best of the staff and provided good service. I had the beef filet. It was good, cooked exactly how I requested. Tender, a very good piece of beef but under spiced. Nancy had the autumn salad which was quite boring - some field greens, a couple slices of pear and a few nuts.
A second set of drinks with dinner, and dessert with coffee brought the bill to well over $200.
Upon exit, I requested the parking validation we had been informed of but the matradee told us we parked at the wrong garage. It was the one we were told to park at! Again, they couldnt bother to care.
Our special dinner was diminished by choosing Urbane. Fortunately, I'm so enchanted by Nancy that the poor service was overcome and we enjoyed each other despite the staff and mediocre food.
I will never return and discourage anyone else to go. I expect to be treated as a guest rather than a bother.
We tried to use a $100 Hyatt gift card but waiter said the balance was 0. I just spent 45 minutes on the phone and was told nothing except it had been used (not by us) on 2/13/17. They demanded proof of purchase to tell us where. You can keep the $100, we'll never set foot in a Hyatt hotel or restaurant again.
