Just OK..nothing special. Menu was super limited and my cosmo was subpar
we love urban tavern and make sure to come see our fave server KJ whenever we have time for dinner in the city.
This has become one of our FAVORITE SF restaurants. Sebastian is our waiter of choice! Ambiance excellent and the food never ceases to amaze us! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And dont forget the dessert! It's is definately NOT what you think your getting!!!!!
Food, service, location was awesome!
Not your typical hotel restaurant. Everything about it from the exceptional service to the quality and creativity of food, beautiful presentation and perfect cocktails, and everything between was fabulous! I would recommend Urban Tavern to anyone looking for high end dining experience in a relaxed and unpretentious environment. Thank you, Urban Tavern!
Booked a table before my night at A.C.T. Arrived a bit early, was courteously seated at the bar, where I ordered and very much enjoyed a "Spring's" martini; then was seated at my table almost exactly on time. Ordered the small version of the steamed mussels and a plate of grilled baby bok choy. Both absolutely delicious. Waiter fun and knowledgeable. When I asked about a wine pairing, he brought me three to taste, and the one I picked was an excellent complement to the food. Since service was so prompt, I had time for dessert and indulged in the cream cake. Plenty of time to walk to the Geary, where I was promptly upgraded! A great evening, and one more compliment to the Tavern: As a woman dining alone, I felt very welcomed and well taken care of. Will definitely return.
The harvest martini was to die for! We did an array of small items to share and everything was delicious!
We ate at Urban Tavern for the first time this past weekend, mainly because we were staying at the Hilton and wanted to go somewhere close, where we didn't have to travel. The food was very high quality, and unusual in the combination of choices, sort of an Asian Fusion combination, some Vietnamese, some Chinese, and all of it really good. Also, excellent wine list. We had the Milk Bread, which was a really outstanding choice, and also charred Octopus for an appetizer, again a wonderful tasty choice. We shared a Teriyachi chicken, with sticky rice and bok choy, again really delicious. Attentive service, good suggestions on menu choices, and just a great experience overall.
My friend and I were so happy with our experience at Urban Tavern! The food was outstanding. Great wine. Very attentive but not overbearing service. The Country Fried Wild Mushrooms was fantastic, as was the Bibimbap. Wish I could have it all again!
Victor was an excellent server
Service was well received and food was great!
Great food. Very surprised. Highly recommend the salmon.
Muy buena atencion ! La comida bien sin grandes sorpresas!
I’ve eaten here before at the bar and forgot when I booked it a second time. The food is ok. It comes out very appealing but just lacks flavor. We ordered the barramundi and it was slightly over cooked and lacked seasoning. The steak was cooked properly and tasted good. The broccoli were well cooked and delicious. Unfortunately, the wine list was very limited and one note. It’s pretty decent for a hotel restaurant.
Great dining experience.Great location close to Union Square with a great menu. Excellent service from the bar to the restaurant side. We started in the bar waiting for another couple to arrive. I have celiac and need to make sure I get gluten-free food. The waitress double checked with the kitchen regarding what I ordered. The manager came by and checked on as well. Everything we ordered was great. The highlights were the Improved Whiskey Cocktail (which I would describe as a Manhattan like cocktail), Spanish Charred Octopus, and Pacific Baramundi.
great food! clean place :)
Most innovative ‘bar food’ I have ever had. Delicious!
My girl and I were very surprised and satisfied with the experience at UT.
We were parking in the same building's lot so it was convenient. Having never been to UT we were expecting a touristy and gritty experience but from the entrance to the exit, the service was attentive and fun, the steak for two was perfect, the wine suggested was spot on and the dessert suggestion equally great.
The food was great, they gave us a great booth. The appetizers were fantastic (get the peppers!!) with the exception of the "loaded fries" which was 4 small potato wedges. The burger was *really* good.
Need more menu choices!!!!
Waiter was pretty rude and he had a big ego. He was the one wit
Great service and the Butter Cake rocks! This place will not disappoint!
After attending Rhinoceros at American Conservatory Theatre, we went for a late dinner at 9 pm. Right away on arrival, we were seated in a booth as we had requested. Our waiter quickly acknowledged our presence. After giving us a few minutes for deciding what we wanted, he came back and took our order. He brought our drinks promptly. We ordered the Korean-style Bimbibop (sp?) and the mussels. Both were delicious. I asked for additional corn bread to soak up the yummy tomato sauce on my mussels and he was happy to oblige. Altogether a most satisfactory experience. The restaurant was busy, so it was noisy. But not so loud as to make conversation between us difficult.
Server did not come back for extended period. Had upset stomach after meal. Bill over $150 for mostly apps.
Wonderful server, yummy food and a fun evening.
The food was superb (especially the peanut dessert!) The Service was excellent - our waiter gave great suggestions and was very attentive.
Totally enjoyed my meal. Great food, excellent service.
It was wonderful and the atmosphere is nice.
great, couplex layered flavors, absolutely delicious
we were looking for a quiet and different place to eat. we found it at urban tavern.
Menu options were limited. Ordered a steak... very fatty, bland and most of the advertised weight was bone (Mother’s Day ribeye for 2). We had reservations yet still needed to wait a while.
A great place to have dinner prior to a theatre play at 8 pm. We shared small plates, wine, and had room for dessert. We loved it.
Great location for dinner before attending SHN Golden Gate theatre.
It was a set of husbands having a night out to dinner. Even though we never left the building, we were definitely not in our rooms ordering take out again. Our table was ready, and the host and server were friendly. Not to mention the food. OMG so good. If you’ve never tried octopus, this is the place to make it happen. Be forewarned that you’ll be ruined if you eat it elsewhere. And the Bibimbap is freaking phenomenal.
Great place for a group...we were able to sit at a round table. Good food, interesting menu but maybe not executed to the nth. Our waiter was great but we had to keep looking for him; maybe they are understaffed?
We are visiting San Fransisco and it was our first night here. Before arriving we had checked out the menu and my partner was leaning toward Peking Chicken and I was leaning toward Pork Belly and Waffle; we both ultimately got the Peking Chicken. The dish was presented beautifully with herbs/florals, the chicken was marinated perfectly and had a perfect crisp to the skin. The baby bok choy was done perfectly along with the sticky rice. The whole meal was brought together by a black bean sauce served on the side.
Cocktail could be better
The food was both delicious and beautifully presented.
The food was expensive and not worth the money. The setting is nice. The service was just ok.
