Urban Taco Mockingbird Station
Last minute dining before a concert. Perfect quality in fast casual setting!
Food and drinks are great. However, the service was horrible. It took 20 min just to get water abs another twenty to have someone take our drink order. My husband had to go to bar to get someone’s attention. Manager/bar person did try and make it right gave us free chips and guacamole to make up for inconvenience but, whoever our server was supposed to be never came by our table. Ruined our evening we were planning on having good food and drinks before going for a laugh at comedy club but we weren’t able to really enjoy like we wanted to.
Urban Taco closed at 6:00pm and was not open for this reservation. The staff didn't seem to care that they were still taking reservations on Open Table, even though they were not open.
This is a very popular hangout and can get tough finding a table without reservations. The service is great but you will have a long wait on busy evenings. Everything on the menus is fantastic. However, the food is very expensive and you definitely will pay more here than anywhere else. Again, no better tacos, though a bit small, but be prepared to shell out the bucks. The decor is mundane and nothing to look at. It’s all about the tacos.
We ate on the patio on a lovely night. The food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the snapper tacos.
Our server was the bartender. He was very good but very overwhelmed. I think he was the only one there. Because of that we only ordered 1 round of drinks and an appetizer before we had to leave. We didn't have time to eat dinner.
The food was delicious! We had out-of-state guests and they enjoyed it so much. We were very pleased! Our waiter was awesome too.
The service was terrible and the noise was outrageous. You could not hear the person sitting next to you it was so loud
Great experience – we loved the personalized suggestions offered by our waiter. The most interesting item on the menu that we tried was the jalapeno peanut salsa. Definitely not something we would have ever ordered on our own but that we really enjoyed!
Love the food but really disappointed about differing responses to questions about food preparation. I was previously told the beans and rice did not contain any lard or meat products only to be told on a return visit that was not true--both the beans and rice contain meat products (lard and chicken stock).
The fish and veggie tacos remain tasty, but I am really irritated that I was served something I wouldn't otherwise had eaten.
I don't know what's going on with failing restaurants at Mockingbird Station, but this place should buck the trend. The food is delicious and the noise level is just about right. I was with a really picky eater and the waiter got the kitchen to re-make his entree (he can't eat onions, poor thing!) in about three minutes. I had the various taco plate along with wonderful black beans and those delicious cebollitas. Happy to go back anytime!
Went on a Friday night. We had reservations, and had to beg the hostess to seat us at an open table instead of the bar. She kept saying the table was for a reservation they had. We had reservations. My guess is she couldn't hear us over the noise of the restaurant. My husband had trouble hearing each other at our table, so much so, we resorted to texting each other. Our server also couldn't hear us, as was evident when our order was not correct. Food itself had good flavor. Might try once more on a less crowded night.
Wanted something for lunch within walking distance to the Angelika Theater and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and the service was friendly. My mom loved the ceviche and I liked my vegetarian tacos.
This place just isn’t what it used to be.
The food was devoid of flavor. I waited so long to get my main, which was a salad I almost canceled it.
There were 4 of us. We all agreed the place has gone down hill. We all used to love this place.
The drinks were also weak, we all ordered extra shots for our margaritas.
We won’t be back.
Excellent service from Patricio (waiter)
Excellent! Tried something new and loved it. Always like the whole experience so go back as often as we can.
We sat outside with our group of 6 and had a perfect dinner..
much quieter than inside. All the food items are good, and
it’s nice to have a big choice to mix and match,
The food and drinkss were amazing but the service was extremely slow and very inattentive.
The manchego cheese appetizer suggested by our server was very good. The chips were excellent and our entries were excellent. It's a bit loud but service and quality is excellent.
Fantastic food, creative drinks. Will definitely go back!
Quick service, authentic latino food, friendly staff, good seating indoor and outdoor.
If you want a different dining experience that's nothing but awesomeness, then this is it! And the dipping sauces are to die for.
Ceviche Avocado Tower and fried plantains was surprisingly delicious, not a fan avocado however this plate very pleasing. I love that the corn tortillas were homemade and made for a delectable bite. Fun place to hang with friends on the patio, btw drinks were awesome!
Great little place. Popped in here prior to visiting the meadows museum. Good food.
Fantastic food with smaller portions.
I have always liked Urban Taco, but their location-switch at Mockingbird Station did not result in even a push with the look and feel of the place. The old site was smaller, yes; but it had a cool, funky, and warm vibe to it. This new place seems to be trying to bring back the ambiance and decor of the Souper Salad reboots....and that is not a compliment. Sterile and bland, it definitely dinged my appreciation for the place. I’d rather it be a total dive than a hospital cafeteria. Maybe they don’t care because they’re going for the in-a-rush theatre crowd. Too bad.
Very different from the traditional Mexican food and very good!
Such friendly staff. Food was great.
The food is good, but that's about it. They need to do something about the multiple doors into the restaurant. Staff going in and out of the side door, causing cold winds to blow in makes for a not so great evening. Not many options other than sitting at the bar to avoid it.
Service and food were excellent!
Visited lately with my family and my best friend, as a suggestion from a good friend, pleasantly surprised by the great tasting food and beverages menu, sounds crazy but it is as authentic as it can be in such an urban setting and restaurant chain like environment, for causal dinning, I’ll suggested to every one!
Pineapple marg is amazing! Sitting on the patio is nice.
Easy quick dinner before seeing a movie at Anjelica.
Too long waiting time for the food
I've been dining at Urban Taco since I moved to Dallas almost 10 years ago. The food is always delicious and the savory drinks are the cherry on the top. My only gripe about this new location is that the service leaves a lot to be desired. I've dined at the new location a handful of times and each time there has been some issue we've had to deal with. The most glaring of them included waiting on food for more than 30-40 minutes and billing errors. They, of course, have been willing to take care of us when these things happen but they shouldn't be happening from the start.
Nice mexican food, with authentic ingredients. Very good food and service. Is casual and fun!
First time to Urban Taco....delicious food!! I will be back!!🙌🏻
The waiter we had was good. He had one issue with space and reaching over our plates. Other than that he was good.
