Urban Solace Ratings and Reviews
Arrived promptly before 1pm. Didn't receive food until about 2:30pm. Yes, over 1 hour wait, and no, not even the slightest exaggeration for this wait time. We had a large table (about 10 people) but the restaurant had mostly cleared out by 1:30pm. The portion of the food (beef hash) was mostly just filled with potatoes. Not worth $15 + tax + tip.
Pleasure seeing my friends for afternoon brunch which made the stay enjoyable, but food and service were totally lacking.
First night in San Diego and had dinner at Urban Solace - funky place and area in a good way. We shared the charchuterie and the steak- both were OMG delicious! I had the special mule cocktail, which was yummy. The server was supper attentive and nice. We sat outside, and given we are from Chicago where the temperature is 1 degree, this was a treat. Highly recommend.
Manager charged for both corkage after offering her a taste of wine. Our server tasted both...Jody was great but duckaroni was bland. No big deal though the rest of the food was fine. The problem was the manager mention ing how they sold so many duckaroni's that night(like we're the idiots with no palet and that the chef agreed on the lack of taste/seasoning). I've been in the fine dining industry for 19 years btw...
Food was fabulous! Lauren, our server, was the BEST!!! Drinks were perfectly made. Wine selection was great. We are from Seattle and look forward to going to Urban Solace every time we’re are in San Diego. Fun environment.
We highly recommend Urban Solace for just the two of you, or for a larger party.
We were looking for a spot to have dinner before a show at the Observatory...what a find. This place is so great. So close to the Observatory, just a block away. Great menu with healthy choices and a fun atmosphere. The staff was wonderful and fun. I am looking forward to our next visit. Oh, ya and it was my sister's birthday and they brought her a little cake.
We've been to Urban Solace several times before and the quality of food has gradually gone down. This visit, in particular, the food was extremely disappointing. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and the best part of the meal was the ice cream sundae the waitress brought out at the end (a nice touch). Even the simple salmon that I ordered was overcooked and had clearly been sitting under a hear lamp for a while before it was brought to our table. Shortly after being seated we were asked to move to another table so they could seat a larger party in that area. Not a big deal but still an inconvenience. There are many other restaurants nearby that charge similar prices with much higher quality food. I can no longer recommend urban solace as fine dining.
Interesting cocktails, delicious food, wonderful ambiance, great service! I went to lunch with a girlfriend before going holiday shopping and we had a WONDERFUL experience at Urban Solace...outstanding from start to finish. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone!!!
Went on a Thursday night for what they call "Date Night", but doesn't have to be an actual "date". The special menu for that night is excellent and a great savings. The meal was great. Shared a slice of Black Forest Cake for dessert. The slice was huge. The service was excellent. Very attentive staff even if they were not your assigned server. Will (and already have) recommend this restaurant.
This place is and always has been excellent. From the ambiance to the food you won’t be disappointed. The handcrafted cocktails set the tone for the rest of the meal. The cuisine is excellent, Well portioned and of course delicioso. Great for a dinner date or friends date, the patio is just so cute and cozy. Hope you enjoy as much as I always do!
We had tried US for lunch several times but had never tried dinner here. Our mistake.
We sat outside on a perfect night with an attentive waiter, Arlene, who guided us to great
selections and a wonderful meal. Wine selections and cocktails are great when everyone
wants something different.
It's also a nice touch that the owner stops by the table to check in and in our case, receive
praise for the staffs great performance.
Next? We have to try the Bluegrass brunch on the weekend! Bravo!!!!!
We sat outside, nice ambiance with heaters. Both our meals were perfect, I had the duck confit entre, hard to find and it didn't disappoint ! The wine list was really good, unique selections at a reasonable price. We haven't been in years, don't know why, but its definitly back on our radar!
