Welcome to Urban Solace Restaurant! We feature a delicious breakfast and brunch menu seven days a week from 8am to 2pm. We also server dinner nightly beginning at 4pm, featuring New American Comfort Food and a fantastic selection of West Coast wines, handcrafted beer and a full selection of handcrafted, artisan spirits and cocktails. .
We are located in the heart of North Park, near bustling neighborhoods of Hillcrest, South Park and University Heights, and just north of Downtown San Diego and Balboa Park. We are open seven days a week - reservations are recommended. We are famous for our “Bluegrass Brunch” every Sunday - live music is played from 10am - 2pm.

Met up with girlfriends on a Monday holiday for lunch and were able to be seated on the patio. Excellent service and the brunch menu was excellent. No complaints from anyone and we had a really nice time. Cinnamon roll is always a necessity to start.

my only disappointment was we made the reservation, confirmed with a return phone call. Checked in early, our third person checked in by reservation time and told them we were at the bar. I had requested a table on the patio with the phone call to Urban. The hostess never came to seat us. when we finally went to her ( many empty tables) she went to seat us in an indoor corner table- worst in the house. I complained and eventually got seated on the patio- 5 minutes wait only. Did get a lovely free appetizer and the food was great, our waitress was amazing. The Hostess needs to take her job seriously and do it, maybe stay off her phone or chit chatting with the other hostess.

Reservation was set for 1100. Arrived at 1040 and was seated at 1055. Place was half full on the inside due to a large party and out side had two small tables seated. Waited 15 minutes because the restaurant opened at 1030 but the servers weren't ready until 1100. Food took approximately 20-25 minutes and arrived warm. No salt was added to our food during preparation so I did it myself. Food was cooked well but had no flavor. Ordered eggs benedict with a pork belly as topping.

I wanted to like this place better given all the hype. It was very over-priced, small dessert portions for the price, and food was OK. I was really looking forward to the chicken and dumplings, but honestly, I make it better myself! Only saving grace was the excellent customer service.

Service was great—friendly, knowledgable, good recommendations. Food was flavorful and well presented. Had the duck confit on a bed of curried grains. Date had the scallops. Both very pleased with our meals. Biscuits and pate appetizers were really great.

Omigod I can't express how much I loved this place. It was a really good find.

Parking is street or in the lot across the street for a few bucks for the hour or so you'll be there.

Pretty popular brunch spot on weekends with live bluegrass every Sunday out on the patio. I arrived right as they opened at 0930 and thought it would be more crowded but the gal up front said it starts around 10am when the music starts - there were still plenty of indoor seats when I left at around 11am.

You can walk around North Park after brunch to explore and shop and walk off some carbs if you'd like as it's pretty well located in the middle of it all.

The vibe is southern friendly and the menu has lots of gems of southern cuisine like shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls with butter pecan glaze, Benedict's with hollandaise and much more.

I chose a hot black tea with cream and sugar (served to me with white and brown sugar cubes), the cinnamon bun add the butter pecan glaze, and the salmon Bennie. All were delicious, service was warm and friendly as I tried another drink that I didn't like which we swapped for tea.

The live music the day I was there was on point - I was afraid it would be too loud out on the patio but the four fellas playing soft comfortable bluegrass tunes were enough so that you could easily still hear talking and have a conversation over their music. Very pleasant and they played some songs I've heard and popular tunes as well as old classics.

All was well from start to finish with service - and several of the servers were friendly and greeted and spoke to me because I was dining alone.

Food was great always is. I should have been more specific in reservation. Where we were seated we could not hear the live bluegrass band. That was one of the reasons we chose the restaurant.

loved the Blue Grass music band that played and give them 5 stars. The cinnamon roll did have a nice cream cheese icing but it needed more gooey softness inside but it did have a crunchy exterior. The eggs benedict with the pork belly was very good. The only improvement would be to have another option besides white bread that came with it and offer an organic whole wheat or multi grain bread and instead of potatoes offer fruit cup instead. Just looking for healthier options. The coffee was very good and they did have stevia sticks on the tables and half and half in a nice container on the tables.

We love coming here. The biscuits are to die for! And the spreads for the biscuits are even better. We've never had a bad thing here. Always great food!

A little disappointed this time around. We were really looking forward to coming here. We moved out of state and this place used to have great brunch. Big portions, good food and fabulous cinnamon rolls. Our experience this time was completely a let down. The hostess wasn't very welcoming. Our server was nice, but didn't refill waters or coffee unless asked several times. We waited a lot for pretty much everything and it wasn't very busy. Food was mediocre and the portions were small. We waited a long time and our dishes were cold by the time we got our food. The cinnamon roll used to be the best part, warm and gooey, but what came out was cold with even colder frosting. I'm sad the restaurant has declined so much. Not worth visiting again.

What a wonderful evening and meal. The prosciutto wrapped ahi was amazing and the creamed ancient grains were simply divine! The artichoke dip starter was a little slow getting out of the kitchen but totally made up for it with flavor. The service was impeccable. Really a great experience.

Especially on a quieter weekday night, Urban Solace is hard to beat for solid comfort food style dishes in a comfortable atmosphere.
The menu is relatively small but all dishes are well prepared.
Friendly, attentive unhurried service, good wine selection by the glass or bottle.
Great spot for a good meal and good conversation.

Exceeded expectations in every regard! Absolutely loved everything we ordered. Quality, portions and flavor were on point. Cocktails were great too. Prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be back.

We were visiting from out of town and Urban Solace was our first vacation meal. North Park has many interesting places to dine but we chose Urban Solace based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. We happen to visit during the Mad Men Monday’s happy hour and had the gin giblet a very old school cocktail updated with fresh ingredients. The shrimp and grits were wonderful as were the cheese and chive biscuits. Loved the atmosphere great vibe

Brunch is good, but over priced. Hipster interpretations of various cuisines which could use more flavor and presence. Presentation is good, but again over priced. Cocktails are average. Outdoor ambience is mediocre at best. Good service.

Small restaurant, nice patio area but we opted to sit inside because the bluegrass band was really loud on the patio. Started with the biscuits and the tomato jam that accompanied them was delicious. I ordered shrimp and grits which were a good sized portion, five big shrimp and super creamy and tasty grits. The men ordered the biscuits and gravy and wondered why the gravy was more sauce-like and didn't include sausage. Bacon is super sweet. Someone else in our party ordered the cheesy eggs which was a small portion potatoes, a bowl of grits and scrambled eggs. She said she was underwhelmed by the dish and told the server the potatoes were so salty that they were inedible. The service here is extremely conscientious. The waiter relayed that information to a manager who came to our table and apologized and took the meal off the bill. The staff works hard to make customers happy. Cute building, looks like a house you'd find in New Orleans. Street parking but loads of parking lots nearby.

Super awesome brunch. Definitely recommend the lemon poppyseed and blueberry pancakes. The music was fun and the staff was very attentive. A perfect place to finish off the weekend.
