Manchego cheese is the April special of the month. Delicious! The portions and style of dining reminds of tapas. Dessert fondue is decadent and very sweet.
Love this place. Always a good time. However I’ve noticed the portion size has decreased while he price remains the same.
The cheese fondue was good but the selection of dessert to dip into the chocolate wasn't good.
Love dining here! Always a great experience.
The food was excellent. The service was not great. Our waiter was very nice, but not overly attentive. We waited a long time when we asked for things or when he said he would bring something.
Super interactive and fun. High quality as always. Would recommend to everyone we know.
The food is always great here, and the atmosphere is great for special occasions, dates, etc. The smoked cheddar fondue is the best I've ever had. Love coming here!
I came in for my birthday and had a fantastic time! Arturo was wonderful, made us feel right at home! Thank you!
The food was good, however the portions were a lot smaller then they used to be. We didn't have enough cheese to finish our bread with.
Had to ask for more drinks, sides didn’t come out until we were half way through dinner, very slow service felt like we were ignored, if it was my first time I would not come back , dinner took two hours usually only 1.5 hours, desserts have change no rice crispys
I thought the quality of the food was poor considering the cost. The bread and cheese was by far the best course. The meat was fine, and I thought the dipping sauces were sub par. The cakes and fruit that were sent out to go with the chocolate were nearly frozen and did not taste great. It seems that they bulk order baked goods, and freeze them all. Even with the discounted price for Dining Month I found myself wishing I had spent my money elsewhere.
First of all there was no parking so that started a negative feeling. The cheese fondu was very good, but the main course and dessert were not a good value for the effort it took to cook them and then they were cold. I would not recommend this restaurant nor would I ever return
The brie and gorgonzola cheese pot was a revelation, and the white cheddar and caraway was also delicious. The amount and variety of things to dip in the dessert pots was also very impressive. Great atmosphere, great cocktails, although I wouldn't recommend getting the Diablo if you can't handle spice.
Food was excellent. We had an awesome server for our somewhat rowdy group which included two children. She was very flexible. She made excellent suggestions.
Great dinner, our water Arturo was the best. Very attentive, great recommendations and fun. My daughter and I had a lovely dinner. The only disappointing part is the hostess was very rude. She could use a serious education on customer service.
Experience was not the good. Placed reservations online and requested booth seating (understanding that it was not guaranteed). Upon arrival, we asked about our booth request and our hostess gave what felt like a mini lecture about seat preferences not guaranteed (while taking us to our seat) - that should have been our clue to leave. We were seated in a booth by the entrance/hosting station and spent the majority of our time hearing the hostess talk to the wait staff about how people who are coming for Portland Dining Month aren't getting that good of a deal...we were there for Dining Month. The hostess was annoyed about the number of last minute reservations she was getting for PDM because it was ending that weekend. From a food perspective, very disappointing, fondue was warm and tasted like something from a can (not fresh or chef made as the menu described) and the same can be said about the dessert. On a positive note, our waiter was kind and did provide good service. But we will not make it a point to come back.
There was a waitress, and I feel bad for not remembering her name but she was fabulous! I read mixed reviews but went anyways. Me and my boyfriend had a blast! The staff was so helpful in cheap options and help us navigate meals on the menu when we couldn't agree haha. Definitely recommend going with 1 or 2 people tops! The restaurant is small but don't let that stop You!
Cheese fondue was excellent. Entrees were pretty good, but the vegetables took forever to cook, and one at a time. Sauces were top notch! I LOVED the lobster, wow. Shrimp was also super fresh. I was impressed with the seafood quality. Cheesecake dessert fondue was not something I’d choose again but that was our own mistake. We did feel that the cheese, broth, and dessert fondues were not hot enough. The dessert one was almost cold. Also we were mostly finished with the cheese fondues by the time the side of sausage for dipping in it came out. Some drinks took an entire course to arrive. But they were very busy. Overall, I’ll be back!
Fondue is always great fun. Urban made a great experience with their easy, friendly service. The cheese and dessert rounds were incredible. There was some novelty to the seating and decor, but this did not detract to an otherwise super fun date night.
Great experience. 2.5 hrs for 3 course.
This was one of our Dine Out Portland choices and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful and we could just take our time and enjoy our meal. Everything was explained and any questions answered. It was a little loud, but we could still converse across the table. I would recommend, though, that you sit at a table and not a booth. The booth was so low, we couldn't see into the fondue pots, and the material on the seats made it extremely difficult to slide into. However, we will definitely put this on our go-back-to list.
Very comfortable, relaxing & tasty meal! Enjoyed the Martini’s too!
I did not have a good experience at Urban Fondue, but it's probably mostly my fault. I have avoided the place for awhile, because their food is too funky for me (apparently I am a SUBurban fondue fan). But when I saw the Portland Dining Month menu, I thought I'd give it a try. I have dined at a number of Portland restaurants this month, and enjoyed my meals a lot.
First problem: Urban Fondue is really not set up for people dining alone. The Portland Dining Month price is offered only if there are two of you, each paying that price.
Second problem: processed cheese. I know it's faster, but I think it tastes nasty. And as soon as I saw that the Black Truffle fondue was made with processed cheese, I began plotting my exit. The bread was lovely and soft (although fondue usually calls for crusty bread for a reason--it doesn't fall apart/fall in the pot when you dip it, as this bread did).
I went in looking forward to cheese fondue, an entree, and dessert fondue for $33. I left having had cheese fondue that was unsatisfying and a lovely dessert fondue...for just about $33.
If I went back, I'd skip the cheese entirely and have a salad and an entree and take the dessert home.
Or I'd go to The Melting Pot.
Was there for a birthday dinner. Food was amazing. Service was on the slow side and lots of little things in the restaurant needed work.
Not too comfortable. Tables small seats hard. The cheese fondue was good. With just a few minor upgrades, urban Fondue could rate much higher.
Awesome experience, will definitely be back. More casual than The Melting Pot but the food was just as good if not better. Every staff member went above and beyond, everyone was helpful and kind. Very glad we took a chance and checked this place out!
We had a great time. Great food, great service. The staff even handled themselves well when a mom and daughter were making things very difficult as soon as they opened.
It was my first time at Urban Fondue and it was for my birthday. Our server sucked, she forgot to bring the extra add ons, our drinks took 20 mins to get, our sever didn't check in on us. The booth we got had burn marks and there was a large table directly in front of us! Getting in and out was awkward and it was a pretty disappointing first time.
Service was friendly, dinner took long in total about 2 hours? We did Portland Dining Month 33$ each for 3 courses. I loved the cheese fondue and we added asparagus. The entree was lobster and steak plus veggies, which was OK for me. We got two skewers each took forever to cook pieces of food at 3 mins a piece!! Lol. We dipped in 2 broth (they give you a timer and cheat sheet), which didn’t give food a ton of flavor. They also give you like 8 small dipping sauces, which quite frankly overwhelmed me. I didn’t know what to dip in what! The desert was also just OK for me. We got salted caramel sauce and a plate full of sweets (cookies, cheesecake) with like 6 pieces of fruit (two strawberries and 4 pieces of pineapple) to dip. That was too sweet for me, I think more fresh fruit would have been better. It was good to try it, but for a total bill (including 2 cocktails) plus tip close to $100 I’d go for sushi or something else.
Great fun and amazing service! Food was awesome!!
It was good food, quick service, and awesome wait staff! She knew the menu, was helpful in picking out what would work best for us, and friendly!
Urban Fondue was absolutely wonderful! We went for the Portland Dining Month Menu. Their cocktails were fabulous, both my partner and I loved them. The ruby port fondue was so flavorful, i found myself scraping every last bit out of the bowl. We each had steak and lobster for the main course which came with some veggies and a few tortellini. The portions of meat were a little light but we still left feeling full. We tried the March special (a fondue take on s’mores) and got a bit of a sugar rush dipping the many fruits, cakes and doughs in the delicious chocolate fondue. Overall it was fantastic!
We went during Portland Dining month, so the price was reasonable. Overall, the food was average - and the service was slow. They forgot one of our orders and the overall flavors were unimpressive. Not as good as The Melting Pot, honestly - and I really was hoping to find a good locally owned fondue place v. a chain restaurant.
We are long time friends who haven't seen each other for 9 years, celebrating our birthdays during Portland Dining Month. We so enjoyed our complete meal, delicious! Also, service was great, very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our evening. Thank you very much!
The carpet needs replaced dingy and the lights above the booth's need dusted. Table was dirty. Staff had a hard time moving us back one table to not be right by door soared the experience a bit. Server was great felt rushed a bit on the meal.
Service was ok. Nice server just didn’t see him much. Entrees way over priced. Not great. Salad wasn’t very good either. If I go back I would stick with cheese fondue and dessert fondue. Maybe a cocktail.
We went for PDX dining month. The way the their website was worded made it seem like the dinner was $33 per couple, not per person. It was $33 per person. I sent them a message via Facebook and they changed the wording on their menu to prevent others from being confused... The food was good, but I wouldn't recommend it for the price. I would venture elsewhere on the dining month list and get more bang for my buck.
Really enjoyed our evening. Staff was out of this world friendly and attentive to our every whim. Portions were plentiful and explanation of menu was suburb. Several drink options available and cozy booths make it feel like you are sequestered from the rest of the restaurant. I highly recommend reservations and be sure to order a cocktail made to order from Bartini next door. If you are driving and need parking, come at least a half hour early! Parking in NW is a joke.
Urban Fondue - hipper than us, but cool about it.
We had a reservation, but weren’t able to be seated for about 15 minutes. We waited in the bar, which was a bit crowded and noisy.
The ladies who bartended were amazing to watch: they were in the midst of a massive order when we arrived, yet they made the job look easy. We were impressed. Our drinks were tasty as well.
Once we got to our table, our waiter was friendly and made some great recommendations. We had the three course Portland Dining Month menu, which was delicious and extremely filling. We definitely needed a walk afterward to burn some of those calories.
As this was our first fondue experience, we were quite pleased with this introduction to it. We would definitely consider coming back on a less busy night.
Wonderful atmosphere. The experience of cooking the meat in the broth at the table and trying all the different sauces is wonderful. The veggies are crisp and fresh.
The overall experience was wonderful.
