We did Urban Fondue for a birthday and it was great. Only comment would be is to park and walk. There was very little parking near and it was a Wednesday night.
5star all around. Highly recommend. Worth the amount of money I paid. Thanks
I had a wonderful experience here!! It was date-night and we had the fondue experience option on the menu! It’s amazing!!
The only thing I would say it was lacking in was service aspect.
I was never asked/offered a refill on my drink or water’s, we were not really ever checked in on which was a problem because our candle for heating cheese fondue wouldn’t stay lit. The wick was too short, and we couldn’t tell anyone because they never checked in.
The food was delicious despite our candle issue and cheese getting cool/cold fast.
I had trouble hearing a lot of what our server said when she was describing things, she had seemed to be almost whispering as to not disturb others but with the music and other people talking I couldn’t hear her.
I was a little surprised at how casual/dressed down some people were, the place looks and is set quite nicely.
I absolutely love urban fondue. My husband and I love coming here for date night!
We had an enjoyable evening at Urban Fondue. The people working there served us in a welcoming and gracious manner. We enjoy the atmosphere, good food, choice of cocktails and dessert.
Made a 10 PM reservation for Friday night on open table. The restaurant closes at 11. We arrived on time. When we sat down for our meal the server said fondue only. We asked why the full menu wasn't available now (there is no mention of this on their site) and the server told us that they stopped serving entrees an hour ago, so 9 PM when the restaurant closes at 11, because their entrees took 2 hours to prepare. For starters, why are you still taking dinner reservations if you're not offering dinner? Second, I have never been to a restaurant, or worked at one, where entrees take TWO HOURS to make it to the table. And lastly, a tip, if you're going to lie to get customers out the door quickly, at least come up with a believable lie. We will not be returning.
They haven't even bothered to respond.
Was very pleased with the monthly special (cheddar porter mix). Then went to my old stand by of white cheddar. My friends got the chocolate heath bar dessert fondue and it was spectacular. They ventured beyond what they like & tried something new. Only downside was parking. Parked 5 blocks away & it wasn’t well lit. Kinda nervous to get to my car alone.
Great fondue and a great meal overall. Place has a retro vibe/decor, and use sterno rather than having a burner on the table.
We had 2 cheese fondue's- white cheddar and caraway seed, and a beer cheese that was served with a pretzel. We also had a side of sausage too. Both great, but we all preferred the white cheddar. The sharpness was perfect with the bread.
We got a 3 different meats for meals, my favorite was the steak and lobster. Both were perfect.
For dessert we had the chocolate and peanut butter. Really tasted like a liquid Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. My daughter and I loved it. (My wife wanted the classic pure chocolate which I'm sure is great too.)
Great place. If you are a fondue lover give them a try!
Always good food and good service , would highly recommend them!
The fondue experience was interesting but the quality of the items to fondue was marginal. Table space for everything quite crowded. i wouldn't choose to go back. Disappointing, especially for the price.
Our sever seemed really bummed out to be there. Kinda bummed us out too. Took way too long to get one drink. My martini had old olives in it. Tasted off. We ordered one appetizer that was just ok (the bread seemed a bit on the old side) then we decided to leave for somewhere else. Would never go there again.
It’s my daughter’s birthday and this was her dining choice and our 3rd visit. It’s absolutely extraordinary.
It was a fun dining experience but you need to not be in a hurry : )
Came for dessert and really enjoyed the 2 fondues we got. I would highly recommend to friends and all others alike.
Great food and great service! It was the perfect little spot for my birthday dinner. Super cozy too!
Great!!!! Food was good, services was great and it was a perfect choice for our team appreciation meeting.
Great atmosphere and food!
The host was excellent! The only why I gave 4 stars on food. Was it needed to be a little more on serving. Other then that is was wonderful experience.
My daughter had her 16th birthday party here with 7 other friends. They were seated in the semi-private back room which they loved. They had the best time. Food was great, service was great.
An amazing night, great food, great service, ambience was amazing. We will definitely be going back there someday.
This is our go to fondue place. Love the flavors, the portions are ridiculously huge, and the drinks are always so much fun. This time we went for our daughter's birthday and she was treated to a special dessert plate, it really made her night! Can't wait to come back again!
It’s always a great time, Great food and drinks and fantastic desserts.
The cheese portion of the meal was great, but had to pay for individual extras we wanted...thus greatly increasing the bill. The main entree was disappointing, as the pot and broth are heated by open flame which did not get the broth hot enough to cook the meat in the suggested 3 min timeframe. And again, adding extras would have significantly added to the bill. The chocolate portion of the meal was also disappointing, as all their chocolate choices are the same “mix of dark and milk chocolates” with different additives. I’m a fan of white or milk chocolate, certainly not dark. The “mix” was certain on the dark side than hoped.
Great experience here! Food is absolutely wonderful and service could not be beat. I was surprised with so many creative cocktails too. Highly recommend!
All four of us felt the entre portions were lacking in quantity for the price.
If it wasn’t for the desert course, we’d all have stopped at McDonalds or something similar on the way home.
Also, table was too small for four people.
The food and portions were great! The host and wait staff could have been more helpful. Our waitress was slow and rarely checked in on our table. We had to flag them down to get our water refilled.
The food is not bad here but the quality is a bit lacking. My friend and I had a cheese and a Black Forest fondue. The cheese fondue was the consistency of water. It didn't taste bad but I have had many a fondue and they are usually thicker. Generally when the fondue cools, it gets even thicker. Our fondue got actually cold and it was still a watery consistency. Sorry but that just isn't right. I question how much cheese is actually in the fondue. The chocolate was the same. It barely stuck to the items dipped into it. Again, the food didn't taste terrible but I don't think it is worth the price or a return visit. Service was good. The high backed chairs although soft were not very comfortable for long term sitting (very low and at an uncomfortable angle). I wanted to love it but I just can't get past the lack of cheese in my cheese fondue. If you don't care about a cheesy or lusciously thick chocolate 'dip' then you might enjoy this place.
Meet up with grandsons. We ordered two entrees but were given one pot. It was not hot enough to cook our food properly. Our server was not very helpful. She acted like we were stupid when we asked questions. The cheese fondue served first was excellent but we were shortchanged on bread so had to ask for more. The dessert fondue was excellent chocolate but the choices to dip were not fresh. We had to practically beg for a cocktail. Overall it paled.
The music was a bit loud and our server had a very quiet voice. She was hard to hear. Otherwise it was great.
THIS PLACE HAS AMAZING FONDUE FOR A MUCH BETTER PRICE THAN OTHER FONDUE PLEACES.
HOWEVER, TH PLACE COULD USE SOME LOVE AND SERVICE WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THIS TIME THAN USUAL BUT NORMALLY YOU HAVE TO FLAG YOUR WAITER DOWN TO GET ANYTHING AFTER YOU ORDER. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD THAT I JUST PLAN ON THE SERVICE BEING TERRIBLE. IT'S STILL WORTH IT!
I brought my friend here for her first fondue experience. The food was delicious, server attentive and the flow was on pace. It was wonderful for her. The only thing that was a little 'off' during the whole experience was that the booth cushions are very soft (maybe broken down over time) and so you sink to where the table is mid-chest level. However, they provide soft pillows so that was an easy fix to move a couple under us so that we could sit up at the table (and feel like adults lol). :)
Made this reservation for my daughter and 3 friends for her birthday. Service was extremely slow. They had a reservation at 5 when the place opened and spent over an hour and 30 minutes just on 2 courses. Had to hurry out for a show and missed one of their desserts. I didnt realize it would take 2 hours for fondue courses. They said the food was amazing. Their waitress was terrible and treated them poorly. She dud nit explain how tgi gs worked or how long to cook their meet. She had an unfriendly attitude and I had stated it was my daughter’s birthday and she did nothing for that. So for spending over 150$ on a meal I expect better service.
Amazing service. Good mood. Attentive service
Such a great experience - the cozy booth with pillows was so fun, and the food and service were excellent!
I love this place!!! My boyfriend and I will be back.
More of a social experience.. good for dates and friends.. who like cheese and deserts
The best cheese fondue I've ever had! Wonderful selection of drinks. Delicious meal. Everyone should eat here.
My first visit was for my daughter's 25th birthday and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious (oh the sauces!) and the service was exceptional, complete with a special birthday treat and a cup of our favorite sauce to take home after we asked for the recipe.
The waiter was rude, his fingers kept getting extremely close to my food. It took over 45 minutes from time of being seated to drinks.. The warming pot was not warm enough to cook food within the 3 minutes and the size of the platter of urban fondue for 2 was meager. Spend the same amount of money at melting pot and left stuffed. Not the case here!
It was our 12 year wedding anniversary. We have been to another “chain” fondue restaurant in Portland before and loved it. We thought we would give this one a try especially since it seemed locally owned. We were sat in a tall-sided, velvet fabric booth. I had to sit on one of the pillows as the cushion was too soft. I’m not short but without it, the table was at chest level. Our server was less than enthused to serve us. No smile, very monotone in everything she did. The food was okay. Loved the smoked cheddar fondue that we dipped bread and garlic roasted cauliflower in. The drinks were great. The rest we could have done without. I ordered lobster and prawns. Was served lobster and steak. Not worth saying anything. The desert fondue (tiramisu) was too sweet. Unfortunately, we won’t be back
