My daughter had her 16th birthday party here with 7 other friends. They were seated in the semi-private back room which they loved. They had the best time. Food was great, service was great.
An amazing night, great food, great service, ambience was amazing. We will definitely be going back there someday.
This is our go to fondue place. Love the flavors, the portions are ridiculously huge, and the drinks are always so much fun. This time we went for our daughter's birthday and she was treated to a special dessert plate, it really made her night! Can't wait to come back again!
It’s always a great time, Great food and drinks and fantastic desserts.
The cheese portion of the meal was great, but had to pay for individual extras we wanted...thus greatly increasing the bill. The main entree was disappointing, as the pot and broth are heated by open flame which did not get the broth hot enough to cook the meat in the suggested 3 min timeframe. And again, adding extras would have significantly added to the bill. The chocolate portion of the meal was also disappointing, as all their chocolate choices are the same “mix of dark and milk chocolates” with different additives. I’m a fan of white or milk chocolate, certainly not dark. The “mix” was certain on the dark side than hoped.
Great experience here! Food is absolutely wonderful and service could not be beat. I was surprised with so many creative cocktails too. Highly recommend!
All four of us felt the entre portions were lacking in quantity for the price.
If it wasn’t for the desert course, we’d all have stopped at McDonalds or something similar on the way home.
Also, table was too small for four people.
The food and portions were great! The host and wait staff could have been more helpful. Our waitress was slow and rarely checked in on our table. We had to flag them down to get our water refilled.
The food is not bad here but the quality is a bit lacking. My friend and I had a cheese and a Black Forest fondue. The cheese fondue was the consistency of water. It didn't taste bad but I have had many a fondue and they are usually thicker. Generally when the fondue cools, it gets even thicker. Our fondue got actually cold and it was still a watery consistency. Sorry but that just isn't right. I question how much cheese is actually in the fondue. The chocolate was the same. It barely stuck to the items dipped into it. Again, the food didn't taste terrible but I don't think it is worth the price or a return visit. Service was good. The high backed chairs although soft were not very comfortable for long term sitting (very low and at an uncomfortable angle). I wanted to love it but I just can't get past the lack of cheese in my cheese fondue. If you don't care about a cheesy or lusciously thick chocolate 'dip' then you might enjoy this place.
Meet up with grandsons. We ordered two entrees but were given one pot. It was not hot enough to cook our food properly. Our server was not very helpful. She acted like we were stupid when we asked questions. The cheese fondue served first was excellent but we were shortchanged on bread so had to ask for more. The dessert fondue was excellent chocolate but the choices to dip were not fresh. We had to practically beg for a cocktail. Overall it paled.
The music was a bit loud and our server had a very quiet voice. She was hard to hear. Otherwise it was great.
THIS PLACE HAS AMAZING FONDUE FOR A MUCH BETTER PRICE THAN OTHER FONDUE PLEACES.
HOWEVER, TH PLACE COULD USE SOME LOVE AND SERVICE WAS ACTUALLY BETTER THIS TIME THAN USUAL BUT NORMALLY YOU HAVE TO FLAG YOUR WAITER DOWN TO GET ANYTHING AFTER YOU ORDER. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD THAT I JUST PLAN ON THE SERVICE BEING TERRIBLE. IT'S STILL WORTH IT!
I brought my friend here for her first fondue experience. The food was delicious, server attentive and the flow was on pace. It was wonderful for her. The only thing that was a little 'off' during the whole experience was that the booth cushions are very soft (maybe broken down over time) and so you sink to where the table is mid-chest level. However, they provide soft pillows so that was an easy fix to move a couple under us so that we could sit up at the table (and feel like adults lol). :)
Made this reservation for my daughter and 3 friends for her birthday. Service was extremely slow. They had a reservation at 5 when the place opened and spent over an hour and 30 minutes just on 2 courses. Had to hurry out for a show and missed one of their desserts. I didnt realize it would take 2 hours for fondue courses. They said the food was amazing. Their waitress was terrible and treated them poorly. She dud nit explain how tgi gs worked or how long to cook their meet. She had an unfriendly attitude and I had stated it was my daughter’s birthday and she did nothing for that. So for spending over 150$ on a meal I expect better service.
Amazing service. Good mood. Attentive service
Such a great experience - the cozy booth with pillows was so fun, and the food and service were excellent!
I love this place!!! My boyfriend and I will be back.
More of a social experience.. good for dates and friends.. who like cheese and deserts
The best cheese fondue I've ever had! Wonderful selection of drinks. Delicious meal. Everyone should eat here.
My first visit was for my daughter's 25th birthday and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious (oh the sauces!) and the service was exceptional, complete with a special birthday treat and a cup of our favorite sauce to take home after we asked for the recipe.
The waiter was rude, his fingers kept getting extremely close to my food. It took over 45 minutes from time of being seated to drinks.. The warming pot was not warm enough to cook food within the 3 minutes and the size of the platter of urban fondue for 2 was meager. Spend the same amount of money at melting pot and left stuffed. Not the case here!
It was our 12 year wedding anniversary. We have been to another “chain” fondue restaurant in Portland before and loved it. We thought we would give this one a try especially since it seemed locally owned. We were sat in a tall-sided, velvet fabric booth. I had to sit on one of the pillows as the cushion was too soft. I’m not short but without it, the table was at chest level. Our server was less than enthused to serve us. No smile, very monotone in everything she did. The food was okay. Loved the smoked cheddar fondue that we dipped bread and garlic roasted cauliflower in. The drinks were great. The rest we could have done without. I ordered lobster and prawns. Was served lobster and steak. Not worth saying anything. The desert fondue (tiramisu) was too sweet. Unfortunately, we won’t be back
Delicious food and friendly service! Nice quaint, romantic atmosphere.
We got the window seat which was really nice since the restaurant is typically fairly dark. Food was awesome as usual and our server was ok, but A little lackluster at making sure our drinks and stuff were always taken care of. But she was very nice. The drinks from the bar next door were pretty awesome too.
Server was phenomenal and made the experience outstanding!!!!
Loves the cheese & desert fondue. The food fondue experience wasn’t the best. Three minutes is not enough to cook certain items & the lobster tail should have been chopped to cubes for ease of cooking.
I liked the variety of the Fondue courses. Makes for an activity with friends and family. Hope they prosper.
Good for my waistline, I only had 1 pot of yummy melted cheese. Wanted 2, but was a good person & had 1. Opted for a bowl of melted chocolate.
Poor customer service...crowded...an okay experience at best
Unfortunately this experience was not as great as our others. Service was slow and forgot things. The tables are just too small for amount of things put on the table, even for just 4 people. So wanted to have a good experience. Ended up skipping dessert which is usually our favorite part.
Amazing!!! What a wonderful place. Great food wonderful service can't wait to go back.
Urban fondue is one of my favorite restaurants, as I absolutely love fondue. Typically the service is prompt and the waiter checks on you a fair amount. However, the last time I went, the food was brought out and not once were we checked on. My friend and I quickly used up the first batch of bread and waited a bit for someone to come by, as normally a lack of bread is noticed. We repeatedly tried to catch a server’s attention and waited for about 15 minutes to get more bread after finally catching someone’s eye. By this time the fondue was completely cold and we were forced to waste a good portion of it. Only after this were we finally offered more water. The restaurant was fairly empty aside from one large bachelorette party. Overall, I was deeply disappointed in the service, especially because it is typically very good.
Visited Urban Fondue for a birthday dinner. Food was great as it was on our previous visit, service was great after a little mix up in the beginning. Noise level was great until toward then end of our visit when there was a really loud table nearby. Delicious dinner, tasty drinks, reasonable pricing for the amount of food and overall experience.
Overall - the appetizer and the dessert trays were the highlight of the meal. While the main course was good, it was our least favorite course of the three. Perhaps the main issue with this course is that our fondue broth was not served hot enough, and it did not stay hot. For about the first 10 minutes our raw chicken and other meats did not cook properly until we had them take it back and heat it up again. Once we got it back, and got a 2nd burner going, everything went much better.
Our waitress was very nice, I do wish she checked on us a tad more to refill drinks, but overall a real delight. When I first tried to visit this restaurant I was treated very rudely by the host and had no intention of EVER returning. That being said, I'm glad my brother talked me into giving it one more try. I also wish someone would answer or at least return phone calls. I tried to change our reservation SEVERAL times and was never confirmed one way or the other. The cheese course was fantastic and a very different flavor from what I have ever experienced as was the dessert. I thought the entree was overall fine, but the pork was deliciously sweet and I look forward to that in the future. I usually prefer booths, as they allow you to spread out a bit a be more comfortable, but there is no support and the cushion is very superficial and you feel the wood right through. My lower back was in great pain by the end of the evening. Overall, if my brother and sister-in-law suggest coming here again, I will not put up a fuss, but will probably not return on my own accord due to the difficulty of scheduling and comfort of seats.
This was such a fun time! My daughter and I did "the experience ". It was alot of food, absolutely delicious!
I’ve been to urban fondue before and was excited to bring some friends that have never been. It was nice having our waiter suggest things to get, especially for a group of 6. The food and drinks were good, the service was okay. He forgot our order of asparagus and then when we wanted to pay he was hanging out talking to another coworker for awhile. Other than that, it was a great experience and my friends enjoyed it!
The food was delicious but the portions are small, though for the price they are fair. The menu says “cheese fondue” for two but there isn’t a lot of cheese. The bread and sides are delicious.
We love Urban Fondue. We love to go with our kids. They love it and we love it!
We have gone to Urban Fondue for years to celebrate my nieces birthday. The service this time was horrible. The waitress didn’t know the menu. She did not clear off each course to make room for the next. The Fondue dishes were still on our table during the dessert course. She did not charge us correctly on our bill. She spoke so quietly you could not hear her. Normally I would complain to management but did not want to ruin the birthday celebration anymore than it already was. It was a huge disappointment.
