The basa fish in the tacos was moist, and grilled to perfection. The fish portion in each taco was extremely generous. I wish there had been more condiments for the tacos. The diced onions and peppers needed additional flavors. The slaw served with the tacos was flexors, not too creamy but had a satisfying crunch

We always enjoy Uptown because it is pleasant and consistent.

We had a nice time with 6 of our friends. We were seated right on time. The service was professional and prompt. The menu has lots of options, everyone at our table ordered something different. Everyone was very satisfied with their food. I would return and also recommend this place to others.

We always enjoy dinner at the Uptown Cafe. We have a few favorites and like to try new specials on occasion. The wait staff is professional without being intrusive. The bartenders are super friendly and we enjoy talking to them whenever the dining room is full and we opt to sit at the bar. A neighborhood gem!

In my opinion, the recent Courier-Journal review was very unfair. I am a foodie who eats in many restaurants but The Uptown is our “go to” place. We probably eat there once a week. The food is consistently good and is an excellent value for the quality of the food at a reasonable price.

The food is absolutely delicious each and every time I dine there. The menu has a great variety for food and drink. Everyone in my party orders something different and each person raves about their meal. The presentation is very attractive and the service is top notch - just enough attention is paid to each patron. It’s great to have a local restaurant that I can count on to deliver quality dining at any time. The prices are great as well. I’m glad to have a place like Uptown Cafe for entertaining out of town guests, especially with the Derby coming up very soon. Thanks for the great service.

OMG is how I would describe the food, drink and service. There were 4 of us and we started with cocktails at the bar and a smoked gouda and tomatilo queso. Never had "cheese dip" taste the same and I will crave it forever. Delicious and the perfect amount for the 4 of us to dip a few chips and leave room for all the other must have's. Nice wine list and the BEST espresso martini's I have ever had (and yes, I have tried them from many places). Once we were seated, we were nicely greeted and got a couple appetizers. Black bean cakes, and onion rings. Yes, onion rings. Crazy good. Cooked perfectly and not so big that eating them was awkward. The black bean cakes were perfectly cooked, not at all dry, wonderful flavor. Then, dinner...to keep this from going to long, I will list what we had and just know there was not a bite left of ANYthing! Basa fish tacos, grilled beef tenderloin medallions, scallops (cooked perfectly) and the Uptown burger. Of course we finished with a couple desserts and were instantly in a food coma! DELICIOUS!

The service and food was good. The price was good as well for the nice portions. The only complaint would be the tables were small and too close together in the area next to the bar scene. Overall I would go there again and tell my friends to go as well.

We always enjoy dining at Uptown. Servers are always friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. Kelly is a great host.

This was the second time eating here and I wasn’t disappointed. It has become my go to for a working dinner when I’m in town on business.

This place had tremendous reviews and that is why I wanted to go. I can completely see how they seem like almost the perfect restauarnt. I am frugal. Although I love a great value. This eatery provides that across the board. It is not cheap. But everything is so good that you clearly see a value. You don't have traditionl cafe food. Everything is unique and has a touch to it. But every aspect of my dining experience had solid great food. From Salad, appetizer, main dish, and cake. I am not sure I have ever had a meal that everything was good. Just a great restaurant.

Excellent as usual

I love the atmosphere, and the bar area is really beautiful. The food and service for a table of 10, the food was good (my salmon wasn't great, though), and they need more local beers. They provided a nice little birthday cakelet for the birthday girl. Overall, it was a very nice night in a great location.

The ambience and service were quite good. The veg soup was delicious. The entree (chicken and puff pastry) was rather bland and short on chicken.

My husband and I have been here several times in the last couple of months and it truly is one of the most consistently good places on the Bardstown Road Strip. The food was prepared perfectly - My salmon was tender and a generous portion, on a bed of cooked spinach that was neither over nor under-done and rice. My husband orders the beef tenderloin nearly every time and "rare" has always meant rare. The waitress was, as always, professional and attentive. Uptown has become one of our go-to restaurants when we are looking for predictably good food, good service, and an adult atmosphere.

The good and service were great! This is our new weekly Monday spot!

Uptown Café has been a neighborhood staple of my family’s for many years!! The food is excellent, the service is always great and the pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend, especially if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful evening. Ambience is certainly an asset. Must give it a try!!

My friend and I enjoyed Uptown's dependable excellence on a recent week night. We started with a healthy pour of bourbon on the rocks. We tried soups: shrimp bisque and borscht, which was a special. The borscht was served hot and was delicious, with beef and chunks of tender beets. My friend liked the bisque as well; my impression was that it was creamy and delicately flavored. Then we split a chicken liver salad which was wonderful as usual. We were too full for dessert but enjoyed a cup of great coffee to finish. Service was professional: there when we needed someone and unobtrusive when we didn't.

The four of us had a very nice lunch and service very satisfactory.
We were chilly and we were accommodated by their adjusting
the temperature setting. We were not rushed and with it being
lunchtime the noise level was not a problem.

A regular stop of ours, always good and always consistent, what one always looks for in a great dining experience

Very nice meal with friends. Loved the stuffed mushrooms. Only disappointment was they had run out of my friend’s favorite dessert.

Always count on a good meal and great service at Uptown Cafe. It's my favorite neighborhood restaurant!
