food was great!! service was great!! had the jaegerschnitzel & marinated shrimp. both were wonderful!!
We always enjoy our trips to Uptown. I had the Jaegerschnitzel and my wife had the salmon cakes. They were both great.
Restaurant was very chilly.
Great, as usual!
We enjoyed it immensely! Food and service were excellent!
Great food and service. Very accommodating for our large group.
Great for a business lunch! We will be back again soon.
Great service and food!
Not over-the-top, very nice place to dine. One of our favorites for years.
Great atmosphere. Has fish special. Loved it!
We had friends in from out of town—Spain to be exact. They love The Uptown! It did not disappoint. Great food! Great service! Thx for being here!!
Overall great, although I had to remind waitress to bring my wine
This long-time favorite has kept its classics and has developed a varied and interesting diversity of menu options. Everything was delicious and great price-value. And, I never get tired of seeing all the turn of the century posters!
I never walk away unsatisfied. One of the better places in a city that has a lot.
Great bar, great food, great service.
My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day at Uptown Cafe and had a wonderful night. Food was delicious, great staff and service. I have already recommended Uptown to a few friends. Will definitely be going back!
First time at Uptown, we were celebrating Valentine's day. Nice establishment, excellent service and friendly staff. The food was delicious! We had onion rings for an appetizer they were really good. The wife had the beef medallions and I had the pork tenderloin both were very good. Only slight complaint was the seasonal veggies were a little bit too raw still, and the mashed potatoes could have used more salt. They were good, could have been just a little bit better. All in all though, great spot!
Also to add, don't know if it's the normal crowd but we kind of felt young again as literally every other patron in there was at least 20 years older than us (and we're 40/42).
We have been to Uptown many times over the years. Usually on holidays and special occasions. Service is always impeccable and the food usually is as well. On this particular Valentines Day evening the service once again was outstanding. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin medallions and I ordered the salmon. We were under the impression that the medallions were filet. Whatever they were, they were full of fat and gristle and very tough. My salmon was good, but nothing special. I ended up eating what I could of my husband’s medallions, as he could not get himself to eat them. All he had was the vegetables and salad. We never send back a meal in a restaurant. I guess we’ve never had to. We paid the bill ($90 after tip) and left. I felt so bad for my husband that I took him to Outback the very next day for their Victoria’s filet.
Hopefully this was just a fluke. I’m sure we will go back again, but maybe get burger instead.
The salmon pasta was wonderful.
The salad was crisp and cold
The chocolate ganache torte and the strawberry napoleon were great.
We were disappointed that they had run out of the Empress Carlotta before we arrived, but that only attests to how good it is!
Food was excellent. Server was nice but not very attentive. I tried twice to get their attention when passing by, but to no avail. The third time I was able to place a late order for soup. But, when the main course came, I asked to cancel the soup order. The request was completed without comment (when I placed the order, I asked if it was too late to get the soup before the entree). We will likely return to Uptown, though parking is an issue.
I like the feel of the restaurant, very relaxed. The large, open windows provide a lot of natural light in the early evening before sundown. The bar area is comfortable and quaint and a bit nostalgic.
The service was excellent.
We shared the smoked gouda and tomatillo dip, which was very good.
Wife had the cornmeal encrusted Basa Fish with Cole Slaw. The breading was light and the cole slaw was nice and coarsely chopped.
I had the salmon croquettes with rice pilaf. Delicious flavor. Only issue for me was my preference is a more coarse salmon and this was very fine, almost creamy.
This was our Valentine’s Day dinner, a day late.
Food and service were excellent. only caveat would be privacy. the tables were so close that it was impossible to have a conversation without being in on the conversations at each table beside you. For a Valentine's day dinner, that was a bit intrusive. maybe some background music might help keep conversations private to each table?
Excellent food. Service was a bit slow but they were busy.
Delicious food and attentive service together made for a wonderful celebration of a new job. Certainly worth a visit!
The Uptown Cafe has been a consistent reliable restaurant for many years. Their food is wonderful especially the desserts!
It was great as usual. Had a family gathering, and everything was terrific.
Uptown is a nice place that has great food. We have been there before and will certainly go there again.
We celebrated friend’s birthday. Great service and fantastic food! Highly recommend.
Fabulous! Thanks so much for the birthday dessert!
While I felt our server continuously rushed us (my brother and I were twice asked if we wanted boxes, while we each had forks in our hands and were spearing our next bites of food), the food was outstanding.
The Uptown has been my favorite restaurant in Louisville for decades, whether eating alone, with my husband or taking friends. I have to comment though, the overall quality of the food coupled with the rising cost over time has been a disappointment. The quality is uneven. The desserts continue to be superb, service and ambiance superb; entrees not so much. Last week for lunch with a friend, the salmon croquette was so dry and unfavorable, even with the hollandaise sauce, that I only ate a third of it. I thought the total tab was surprisingly high for a small lunch for two. We split a huge piece of Empress Carlotta Tort for dessert, and it was a huge treat, as always.
Love the Uptown! Always wonderful and our favorite go to place!
Great as always.
Awesome service and food! All great! One of my favorite places for dinner ❤️
Fabulous New Year Eve's meal! Attentive staff, no shortage of food or service! Happy New Year Uptown Cafe!
We went on a Monday night, so the restaurant was relatively quiet, which we liked. Our server came over immediately after we were seated and took our drink orders. BTW, the walnut Manhattan is fabulous! The service all night long was exceptional. There were 7 of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. Each entree was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of flair. A truly exceptional dining experience.
Great Table location, The specials were explained by our server, Kelsey, all questions were answered
concerning the Wine choice.
Food was served to the 4 of us, all together, all entrees , were exact, hot & delicious.
Kelsey, came back to our table multiple times, to be sure we were happy, and all water glasses, were
filled. Great time with our friends, from out of town, GREAT Food & Service
Excellent selection. Food was outstanding, and portions were large. Service was exceptional.
A fan since the original Cafe Metro opened in 1980, the Uptown Cafe continues to hold up the standard very well.
The duck ravioli is wonderful with the Caesar salad! I get the same thing every time! I will be back for sure!
