As a young assistant manager at a 5-star Caribbean resort 20 years ago, when $1000/night was unheard of, I asked the resort owner why each year we failed to make Conde Naste's "Gold List" despite being 100% booked a year in advance. He replied, "Because we don't have a pool; 25% of the score is based on a pool." I retorted, "You've got 30 acres-why don't you build one?" To which he replied, "Because if I built one everybody would use it!" I failed to see the logic. "And?" I asked. "Because people tend to do what they are most familiar with and in our case, they'll miss the beauty. If all they remember is the pool, they’ll find one closer to home next year. Here, their memories should be of (pointing) THAT sun setting over THAT Caribbean ocean with their toes in the sand. I’m not here to give people what they're familiar with, Kent, I'm here to provide something they'll never forget."

We offer free off street parking in the lot next door (between the bank and the cleaners) after 6pm and before 3am. There is always on-street parking on this end of NW 23rd Avenue during the evening. For events, we have access to up to 90 parking spaces a block away.

We have a VERY COMPLICATED "MINORS" POLICY. The minor policy can be read on our website. In essence, we are REQUIRED BY LAW to have advance notice that minors will be coming to dinner as it requires changing signage in the building and a "team meeting" for every minor on the property. For state liquor law / minor-posting compliance, minors are not allowed to be near the bar or at the pool tables unless their party has an entire room rented.

I had the five-course tasting menu, and every item was tasty, creative, and ethically sourced. The waitress was competent and friendly. I had an excellent time.

This small dining room is the bargain of the century. The food is excellent and inexpensive considering what it is. We like to do the wine pairing with the tasting menu. Highly recommend this place.

Really a special place. I brought friends for the first time to Uptown to experience their dinner. Everything was as expected. The dinner from sit down to check lasted for over three hours. Really disappointed in that. Hard to enjoy dinner when the service is so slow.

Just finished another amazing five course menu with Chef Scott. The subtleness of the flavors explode in the mouth creating a need to always go back again and again. I think we talk about this food for at least a week after we have eaten it. Hood strawberries Mmmmm. Nowhere else in Portland will you get an award winning chef, creating amazing cuisine at a ridiculous price. You would be foolish not to be a regular here!!!!!

We love this place and the chefs menu. Always had good food with a variety of flavors. Service is good with knowledgeable staff. Wine paired with the food is solid as well. We enjoy tasting wines from countries that I wouldn't normally buy from like Austria.

Outstanding; they have a new chef Scott, and he does a excellent job. Presentation is superb, and each plate was so nicely built I don't understand how this place is not booked month in advance. In my opinion this should be easily a one star Michellin. Every two weeks they change the five course menu, can't wait for the next one. Definitely worth every penny.

We had the 5 course tasting menu to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed the "Ocean" theme, the creativity & presentation, as well as the variety of flavors and textures. It was great fun to read the menu and try to anticipate what might actually by on our plates when they were served! The wine pairings were excellent. Touches of bright colors and fresh, raw ingredients would be a nice addition.

They have a new chef. Think his name is Scott. Great chef. The 5 course dinner was really excellent: food was great, plating was beautiful, Michelin-star dinning experience, and for less than $40 !!
Fantastic meal !!!
