Only bar seating was available due to Coronavirus concerns. All oysters were half-price. I shared 1 1/2 dozen west coast oysters with my wife. They were excellent, I also had a half house salad and a tomato/lobster bisque. Both dishes were very good. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her seafood-risotto dish and especially enjoyed a side of roasted brussel sprouts. The service was excellent. We would definitely return.
The food was good, but the waiter had attitude.
This is one of my fave places and we returned after not being there a few months. Our food was great. We were sad there weren’t more NE oysters for a Friday in Lent. The halibut and risotto always fabulous.
Love this restaurant. Food is amazing. Wish their bar had some better wine selections. Love the atmosphere and food quality is exceptional.
Although not listed online, they had a children's menu and were able to accommodate our daughter's egg allergy. The staff was friendly and attentive. Unlike some nice restaurants in Charlotte, they did not seem apprehensive about having our 2 and 4 year old with us (although our children regularly eat at nice restaurants and are very well-behaved and quiet). The restaurant had a nice ambiance and was not too loud to enjoy a nice meal and converse with the people in your party. The food was excellent and we would definitely recommend it.
Very good food and service. The risotto was amazing.
The ceviche was to die for. Scallops, pear and avocado! Our waiter recommended the terra chips over the bread that usually is served with the ceviche... a definite must to be able to enjoy the flavors of the ceviche. We chose the signature sea bass dish and it did not disappoint...in fact it, too, was outstanding!
The Scottish salmon was delicious-cooked just perfectly. Our waitress was so helpful and patient. The wine she suggested was delicious. Everything we ate was scrumptious-wouldn't change a thing about the evening!
I am giving 4 stars because the Spicy tuna roll wasn't good at all, the rice wasn't Cook a proper way of Sushi rice & spicy tuna wasn't good either.
However, the Crab cake was excellent & my husband’s Trout dish was excellent as well.
We will definitely come back, no Sushi kind of dish though.
Dishes were dirty
My wife and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday brunch. Eric took good care of us. The buffet was attractively arranged separate from diners. There were 6 or 7 tapas additions to the buffet (smoked salmon, Korean calamari -- so tender!, French toast, etc.) and the mimosas were only $3. The oysters were of decent size and tasted as though just plucked from the James River. We took our time, never felt rushed, and departed pampered and pleasantly full.
Their signature dish sea bass was delish! Loved the round table for conversation with a group of 5
The service was great, we never once waited for anything we needed. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very classy and while the restaurant isn’t very big I never had a feeling as if I was cramped, hot or just around too many people, very nice setup. Lastly I ordered the Korean chicken and my gorgeous Valentine’s Day date/girlfriend ordered the salmon, both absolutely delicious plates and both extremely well made, we couldn’t have asked for better, the only recommendation I would make to the restaurant is to update an online menu so newcomers know more of what to expect, considering the menu is not very large it may be difficult for some people or picky eaters to find something they would be confident in ordering, still yet I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.🤙🏼
I think they've re-done the menu-- it has a distinctly Asian influence now-- which is fine if that's what you like. I personally was disappointed in the menu, and had a hard time finding something I actually wanted. But it was Valentine's Day, and I considered myself lucky to get a dinner reservation ANYWHERE, so we stayed. Service was nice-- was a little crowded because of Valentine's Day with the tables fairly close to each other, so not conducive to conversation lest you be overheard by your neighbors.I probably wil not be going back any time soon.
Valentine’s menu was very limited and disappointing. A bento box and steak as the only entree options is not expected for a seafood restaurant. Also, would have liked to have seen a lobster option at least on the regular menu. It definitely wasn’t as impressive as previous visits.
First time patrons celebrating Valentine's Day. Food was delicious, beautifully presented, unique flavors. Service wasn't bad, it just could have been better. However it was a holiday and the place was very busy. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be nice to have had breadsticks or bread with a dipping sauce/oil to munch on as we waited for our appetizers to arrive. It just seemed like this was an easy, customer friendly step to take and it was missing...of all times. We will definitely be frequenting this establishment again. Overall, a wonderful experience.
My wife and I waited for 20 minutes after being seated without a server even acknowledging our being there. Only after stopping a server and aaking who our server is he repsonded that it was him and he would be with us shortly. I can understand if it was a packed house but it was maybe at 60% capacity. We asked about the calamari appetizer and he praised the calamari on how fantastic it was and it being one the best in the city and we ordered the appetizer. The server said he would put that in and come back for our drink order. When he came back we ordered 2 drinks, a white sangria and a glass of wine. The white sangria was very bitter and the wine was corked in smell and taste. The server came back and took our food order. Approximately 30 minutes or so later our dinner was served. We NEVER recieved our appetizer order. I ordered Pecan Crusted Trout after the server exclaimed how fresh it was and that it was caught earlier that afternoon. The trout was to be served with potato and leek puree but the fish dish that was served had rice. The fish was rather thick for a trout and i believed it not to be trout. I did not question it as i do not send food back unless it is woefully cooked incorrectly. The dish that served was not trout but was grouper instead. They completely botched what was to be served. My wife ordered sea bass which she said was good but not fantastic. The only saving grace was the dessert we had. We ordered an apple crisp which was tasty but had no crumble on it like a traditional apple crisp does. It was more like a baked apple dish rather than an apple crisp. Every time the server did come back to our table he stated that he wanted to be "attentive" to us as if we were complaing about service which we did not do even once. Frankly, this was our first time at Upstream and we will not be going back.
As usual the food was wonderful as was the service and atmosphere.
Great food and service, small portions.
Great food, great service, and nice atmosphere.
We have been to Upstream on three previous occasions and really enjoyed it. We were very pleased with the addition of the tapas menu to the Brunch offerings. The trout and salmon were particularly tasty!
Loved the brunch and service was great!!!
Great food, larger portions than we expected, attentive & knowledgeable but not intrusive service. It has been awhile since we’ve been here but we’re already planning a return trip!
Phenomenal across the board!!
Great meal . Enjoyed the appitizer and main course. Desert a bit disapointing but overall great.
First time here, but it will definitely not be my last. Everyone enjoyed there dinner. My only question....why was this my first time here?
Fantastic service and very accommodating for gluten free needs. Lobster risotto and tuna entrees were spectacular!
Service was outstanding! Waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. Food was excellent! Upstream is quickly becoming our new favorite restaurant in Charlotte.
We went to upstream for a birthday celebration. Our waiter was outstanding. However the food was horrible. Our fish was very fishy. It also had way too much sauce on the fish. The portions are very very small and very expensive for what you receive. I was looking forward to a delicious fish dinner and I was very disappointed.
Server seemed like she didn't want to be there. We asked how big the lobster was and was stated 5lbs. Thought that was a helluva deal, turned out to be maybe a 2 pounder. All around expected more... but understand with it being restaurant week...
Dined during Restaurant week. Very pleased to have many choices on the prix fixe menu. All was delicious.
It was the last night of the Queen's Feast so menu was a little limited, but it was very good. The service was excellent. We enjoyed it very much. Amount of food was good. We left pleasantly full, but not over stuffed. A good end to our evening.
Upstream is definitely Upscale. Christian is an excellent well experienced server.
The seabass and brussel sprouts were amazing .
Upstream has been and still is one of the best dining experiences in Charlotte. From its beautiful interior great service and exceptionally prepared Seafood you just can't do better.
Top rating all the way around. We had a wonderful dining experience, thank you!
Very disappointed in our experience. Food was okay. Service was subpar. Definitely not worth the cost. Unlikely to return. Poor experience overall.
Queen feast 2020
Sat in the bar. Lovely. Food good, but great.
The BEST Queen’s Feast in town!! Lobster was cooked perfectly, as was the sea bass and grouper. Server was knowledgeable, efficient, warm and very helpful.
