We went for Valentine’s Day and were seated upstairs. The food and service was delightful. We usually sit at the bar downstairs and we didn’t even know you could be seated upstairs until we got there. We had a table next to the fireplace and it was quiet and cozy.
Marlton Tavern is a casual place that has great
food, whether you want basic bar food or a full meal. The steaks we had were fabulous and prepared to our liking, along with garlic mash and veggie medley. Nice wine, beer and drink selection and also great service. We hope to be back.
Great bar bites, cute building, fun vibe, great for a date or a group
Service was attentive and friendly. I ordered the shrimp with stuffed crab, which was very good.
Relaxing atmosphere. Good food and great service.
Overall the food was good the service was very efficient and friendly. I would definitely go back for another meal. Great neighborhood place.
Ordered shrimp cocktail. Me he says 6 we got 5. So we got another one in a small dish full of water. They had absolutely no taste....similar to old thawed out shrimp. Terrible.
Ordered a salad topped with crabmeat. Crabmeat was tasteless also similar to old thawed out seafood.
Daughter ordered chicken parmigiana....one life was all ligaments and tendon couldn’t even cut it, but I guess the chef feels that if he covers it in enough sauce and cheese the people won’t complain.
My son ordered cheesesteak. Again no taste....maybe the chef doesn’t believe in seasonings. All the food was terrible.
Won’t ever go back service was mediocre and food is always terrible (sorry for repeating myself but can’t help it 😁). My fault for going back with high hopes.
Not a good experience food was very average will not go back for dinner again always remember it to be better service was average I wish I could have given a better review.
They did not have my reservation. The crabs were over cooked and should not be soft!!
We really enjoyed the porch seating, the food was great, as was the service. Since first impressions are important, a fresh coat of paint on the outside (especially the railing along the walkup to the door) would go a long way. Since this was out first visit, I was concerned that the food and interior would not be up to snuff as we walked up the ramp. This was not the case.
Thanks, again, for a great lunch.
We usually love going to eat at Marlton tavern. But we were not impressed on Mother’s Day. The salmon portions were half the size they usually were, and while flavorful, were over cooked. Finally, they were out of the dessert we ordered. We still love Marlton Tavern, but probably would not make another holiday reservation there.
We were seated upstairs where only one other table was occupied. Our service was very bad. We were waiting for her to return with our drinks dinners and bill for a painfully long time.
We ended up going to find her she was chatting on her phone.
The food is very good. The Filet Mignon is always perfect. Was very surprised the first time my son ordered it. Better than many 5 star restaurants we have been to. The wait staff is a different story. Saying most of the waitresses need "charm school" is an understatement. My husband ordered the filet with crab imperial. He received filet with a crab cake. He said to the waitress confused, "I thought the crab was going to be on top of the steak".... the waitress said "if you want, I can pick it up and put it on top for you." Another time I went for the crab cake sliders because they were so big and delicious. This time they were a 1/3 of the size and over fried. When I showed the waitress a picture of the sliders (yes, I took a picture because they were THAT good looking) I had the last time I was there she said "you must have gotten lucky last time." Another time a waitress complained ("this is it") about what she thought was the tip. I take big and small groups here for lunches and dinners.
Wings and French onion soup awesome. Staff very pleasant. Liked sitting upstairs. Yummy marinara sauce
The food is always good and the anbience is nice. When a mistake was made they were gracious and gave us credit plus allowed the coupon to be used - even though it was a little uncomfortable in the beginning as the waitress expected me to take another order for dinner that was not what I had ordered.
A favorite 5 years ago......not up to the standard I have come to expect from the place. Food was good but nothing special. Service was OK. No daily specials. A specialty drink was bought to the table and the server announced “without mint we don’t have any”, out of lava cake for dessert and no clean spoons for dessert so we were given forks. Underwhelmed!
There was only 1 server. Patrons were leaving because of lack of service. 20 minutes After placing our order the server returned to advise they had no pork chops. The 4 dinners came out Luke warm with cold mashed potatoes. We were so disappointed since we took our friends here on purpose because they had never been before. A dinner that should have taken an hour start to finish took over 2 1/2 hours on a Sunday with no crowd.
The food was a total disappointment. My grandson's steak was so fatty that he found it inedible. My Scampi had no taste of garlic whatsoever. Our caesar salads were a disgrace to Caesar. Totally overpriced and underwhelming. We will never go back.
Private room was available for a birthday celebration. Quiet, private, good food at a reasonable price, and service from pleasant servers added up to an enjoyable evening.
Great food and great atmosphere !
Would highly recommend.
When I made the reservation, I was under the impression that we would be seated in the upstairs dining room. When we arrived, it was closed. That information should have been available to me when I made our reservation. Although we had a good time and enjoyed our dinner, we were seated on the porch outside of the bar where it was very noisy.
Diner waitress who was just awful. Food was subpar.. tuna wasn't fresh..sent back.. " why what was wrong with it" waitress response to woman whose husband was a tuna fisherman! avocado panini with little advocado.. broiled seafood with fishy crab and small shrimp.
Acacia wine good..
The waitress was horrible she never really waited for us to finish ordering coffee at the end she would run away before we could even speak. She was rude, and did not give us inclination that she wanted to be there. In the beginning we were her only table as the night went on there was only two more tables oh, so it wasn't that she was busy, she did not want to be there. Not a warm experience.
Service was fabulous and the food was terrific - a great night!
Food was great but service was slow. Only one waitress working.
Had reservation that was not honored. Waited 45 minutes for table. Food was mediocre, chicken was dry. Rice was bland. Only one bartender and one server for the whole place, service was apologetic, but slow. Cleanliness questionable.
I love The Marlton Tavern. Good food at a great local bar.
We had a great dinner and the service was excellent. We had a chocolate martini that was perfect. Love this place!
The service was just bad. No attention to detail. My waitress brought me a bottle of craft beer that wasn't a "twist-top" and just left it at the table - unopened and without a glass (even though I requested one). The waitstaff was just very amateurish and on our way out one of the wait staff was arguing with the hostess.
Overall great experience for the whole family.
Made a reservation a week ahead of time with my handicapped parents. When we arrived, they did not have reservation and they were painting the dining room ( on a Sunday! ). Parents could not walk up stairs to the other dining area so we had to sit in a hastily set table next to the painter ( who continued to work). Waiter was friendly but pretty clueless about the menu and disappeared for long periods ( I had to go into the serving closet to get sweetener before my dads coffee got cold). Looks like they have a good bar but do not go for a real meal. Food was decent and well prepared.
We had never been to the Marlton Tavern, but decided to try it for a birthday celebration. Made a reservation for 2 for 7pm on a Saturday night. But when we arrived at 645, the hostess station was not staffed (vestibule lights were off!) but we could see the bar open so we went in. First bartender stood watching tv and kept his back to us. Another bartender came back to the bar and served us drinks (2 drinks cost us $19) after waiting 45 minutes and only speaking to the busboy and a harried waitress with no optimism that we’d get a table, let alone a meal, we decided we should cut our losses and go to one of our favorite restaurants. I have never before walked out of a restaurant. We won’t be taking a chance on the Marlton Tavern again.
Not a pleasant experience and food was less than mediocre. Definitely not returning.
Good food, good drinks and good service!
The noise level carries throughout. If the room had been full....we were the only ones, it would have been really noisy. As it was....it was still noisy from the bar.
We had a party if six. They sat us upstairs which was perfect. Not too loud.
Excellent good and choices. Pleasant waitstaff. Only complaint, dining area on porch smelled of the disinfectant used to clean the tables
We are 4 local hospital executives having Sunday breakfast that was very disappointing. Open table confirmed a 10 am breakfast/brunch and when we arrived the cleaning woman said they were not open. We waited in parking lot 45 minutes. Employees while opening the restaurant (we were the only ones there) were speaking to each other across rooms at such high voice volume we couldn’t hear our own conversations - it was an awful experience. Where was a manager? We got our food at approx 11 am so at his point we had been there an hour an 15 mins before served. We requested a small comp for our trouble. No manager ever came to apologize. No comp provided. No apology provided. There were 4 of us who know hundreds of people and when all is said and done thousands of people will hear our story and that doesn’t even include social media. We won’t be returning to this tavern ever, for any meal. An apology and a drink or two and quiet respectful servers would have made a big difference we got none of that. Not worth returning and risking the same service when there are so many of establishments out there.
We showed up and was told the kitchen was closed.. they blamed it on Open Table not updating site
It looks like this place went downhill since our last visit. We were seated on the 2nd floor front room. The bench seat was very worn and should be replaced. The food was not hot and 2 of our party sent theirs back. The rest of us ate it the way that it was.
With more competition popping up every day, it is a wonder why the management would let this place run down.
