UpRoot Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Pleasantly surprised as last experience several years ago was overpriced and disappointing. There was clearly a major overhaul and now was delighted. Service top notch, food creative and menu items to appeal to every taste and budget. Excellent bar tender with delicious creative cocktail creations. Will definitely be going back.
The food here was really good. We had the pork belly buns as an appetizer, and the duck, short rib special, and mushroom pasta (garganelli I think it was called) for dinner. For dessert we had the donuts and pear strudel for dessert. The duck and short rib were especially excellent (I recommend letting the chef decide how to cook the duck and I also couldn't really taste the lavender but it was delicious nonetheless) and the donuts are what they are known for so we couldn't leave without having them. I've also had their wings (get the vanilla bourbon sauce) and fried rice and both were good but I just wouldn't bother ordering the fried rice again.
The place in general is really nice. It's a slightly older crowd but we saw many families here. You can always ask for a table in the back away from the bar where its quieter. This place was nice enough, and the food was definitely good enough, that I recommend it to my friends where they're in the area.
When you go to a restaurant, it has to be the food right? Well, it fell short. My wife had the stir fried large plate and it was salty. I mean very salty. The burger that my daughter had was average ; nothing special and my duck plate could have been more crunchy.
The ambience and the service was ok. But if you going there to eat then food matter most.
I hope management and head chef will read this to improve for others. Been there like three times now and this will probably be the last for us.
Our experience at Uproot was mostly a very positive one. We enjoyed our meal and our server Naomi was fabulous! The ambiance was that of a NYC restaurant which was quite appealing. So many little details like cleaning the crumbs in an elegant way, removing silverware after appetizers and replacing with new ones before dinner, and giving a ticket to pick up our leftovers were some of the nice touches that set Uproot apart from other establishments. The one thing that left us shaking ours heads was the choice in music. Absolutely unacceptable music being played for eating dinner at 5:30 in the evening. What the?????
Heard via word of mouth this place was good and wanted to try it out. Tried one of their cocktails and thought the alcohol to taste ratio was well balanced. Ordered the pork chop and wasn't disappointed - large piece that wasn't dried out. Date ordered the poke bowl and loved it. We got the shrimp dumplings to start and although there was only 4 they were super tasty. Will definitely go back!
Really good food, nice atmosphere.. although can get quite noisy. Great service.. friendly staff. My only complaint is the price of their drinks. Paid $15.25 for a Hendricks on the rocks. Brought it up to the waitress and she told me "yeah, its $2.50 more for on the rocks since it's a bigger pour". Really?? That's higher then NYC prices... in Warren, NJ? Shame, because everything else there is fairly reasonable.
Incredible attention to detail in all aspects...exquisite and diverse menu. Our server, Jade, was knowledgeable on the whole menu, the chefs, and background of restaurant.
Beautiful interior and just the right amount of buzz to have a private interaction while surrounded by ambiance.
Have been going to Uproot since it’s founding and have visited through every management and kitchen change.
Just starting to see the place slip in the ranks for the first time. Two reasons....The wine list by the glass is benign. Used to be better selections—like when someone tasted a wine and put it on the list because the taste was a priority.... not profit. For example, the Cloudline Pinot isn’t a good wine at all and there are many better choices at a similar price point.
Then on to the food... the size of the dishes are shrinking and the amount of proteins are proportionally smaller. Leads me again to question hunt for profit over quality/quantity.
Also the execution in the kitchen is down a notch. Previous chefs did a much better job.
This was my first time at UpRoot and we really enjoyed it. I had the pork chop; my husband had the lamb. Both were delicious (highly seasoned); the menu is suburb offering a wide variety of choice. It was very loud but that did not spoil the evening. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend and look forward to my next visit.
Went to Uproot for Saturday night dinner with my husband. We loved it! We shared 6 smaller plates, and we loved everything we had. The menu features a lot of different options, so there is something for everyone, from the basic to the adventurous. I especially recommend the Umami Bowl and the Korean Broccoli. The restaurant is beautiful and modern, with high ceilings and interesting art and décor. Our server was attentive and friendly. We will definitely return!
