Went for date night. The food was delicious and just the right sized portions. The short rib had a great presentation and was done just right. Loved the fried plantain! Service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing. It was a little loud, but otherwise a great spot for a date. Save room for doughnuts for dessert!
Always a great meal at this gem. Mark, the chef , is creative. Cajun mussels are amazing. Am frequently there in the evenings but was recently there with out of town friends for lunch.
Delicious food and drinks
Service and food was excellent
Quick seating
Waiter was very good
Owner or manager (not sure)
Came over to see how we were doing and if everything was ok
My wife’s birthday. Staff was excellent.
Excellent food and service!!!
Great experience from beginning to end, including food, service, and atmosphere.
Excelllent food, creative menu, impeccable service, good value. This is a very different Uproot than the one when they first opened a few years back which was overpriced and not great. Now 2nd trip there recently and plan to continue to go back in the future.
Service was great. Very friendly. The spinach dip and pork dumplings were exceptional, while the pizza was very poor. The pizza was bland and still had raw flour on the crust. I would not recommend the pizza, but the cocktails and other snacks were very good. Nice place and great service.
Always a good experience overall!
Excellent experience. Had the chicken pot pie. It was amazing.
My wife had the quinoa bowl with the falafels. LOVED IT
THEY ALAO HAVE A GREAT BAR
This was our first time to Uproot. We received a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. We had the organic salmon dinner and the pork chop. The flavors and presentation were amazing. Then, for a treat, we had the homespun ice creams/sorbet and the irish cream. Both were a wonderful end to our experience at this restaurant.
I went back to this place after learning that they have a new chef. I liked the transformation to a casual, value oriented restaurant that serves innovative dishes. My duck dish was pretty good. Goat cheese wonton was very innovative. Loved the taste of it.
I love Uproot. I own a restaurant, I'm a chef so I am rather picky when it comes to dining out. I am never disappointed here. The Umami bowl is fantastic as well as the pork belly. I had a short rib special the other night that was amazing! Service staff is always pleasant and professional. Thank you for being a great place to dine.
Food and service were great, although the restaurant is kinda loud.
Food was amazing especially those homemade doughnuts. Would definitely go back!
UpRoot is a consistent gem in the area for creative, delicious food. My favorite restaurant in New Jersey!
Local restaurant, great Old Fashion's with WR and the food was excellent....!!!
Pleasantly surprised as last experience several years ago was overpriced and disappointing. There was clearly a major overhaul and now was delighted. Service top notch, food creative and menu items to appeal to every taste and budget. Excellent bar tender with delicious creative cocktail creations. Will definitely be going back.
Quickly becoming our favorite restaurant, UpRoot never disappoints. The food always tastes amazing and the service is top notch.
Always enjoy Uproot!!
Great place; always great, creative food. Good service. The happy hour menu and drinks are a great value.
The food here was really good. We had the pork belly buns as an appetizer, and the duck, short rib special, and mushroom pasta (garganelli I think it was called) for dinner. For dessert we had the donuts and pear strudel for dessert. The duck and short rib were especially excellent (I recommend letting the chef decide how to cook the duck and I also couldn't really taste the lavender but it was delicious nonetheless) and the donuts are what they are known for so we couldn't leave without having them. I've also had their wings (get the vanilla bourbon sauce) and fried rice and both were good but I just wouldn't bother ordering the fried rice again.
The place in general is really nice. It's a slightly older crowd but we saw many families here. You can always ask for a table in the back away from the bar where its quieter. This place was nice enough, and the food was definitely good enough, that I recommend it to my friends where they're in the area.
As always a pleasure to be greeted with warm smiles from the staff. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. This is our favorite place in the area.
Food was excellent, much of it locally sourced. A bit loud for my tastes. Entrees were excellent; I was underwhelmed by the peach streudel dessert. Plan to try again at a quieter hour.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back.
Great food, very accomodating for change in reservation party size (+1) at last moment. Wonderful dining experience.
Everything was good overall, my wife’s dish seemed extra salty and the “homemade” ice cream seemed average.
Amazing Happy Hour all day on Mondays. Mussels are meaty and huge and delicious. Bar pies are excellent....
When you go to a restaurant, it has to be the food right? Well, it fell short. My wife had the stir fried large plate and it was salty. I mean very salty. The burger that my daughter had was average ; nothing special and my duck plate could have been more crunchy.
The ambience and the service was ok. But if you going there to eat then food matter most.
I hope management and head chef will read this to improve for others. Been there like three times now and this will probably be the last for us.
Cheers.
Not for picky eaters. Minimal menu, seasonal in choices. Not a wide variety. Don’t expect to eat steak. The pizza was soggy and tasteless. The only saving grace was the delicious guacamole appetizer. I wouldn’t return.
Our go to place to enjoy a night with our family. A wonderful place to be with friends. A perfect place for any type of social gathering. Excellent service and delicious food.
This is a very unique place. The menu is very eclectic and fancy. If you are looking for something different and interesting go here.
Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a great meal comprised of several appetizers our waitress suggested, based on our preferences. Great wine and bourbon choices as well. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
Went for New's Year Eve dinner. Restaurant was very quiet. Had reservations at 8:30PM, and at 8:50PM the waiter told us the kitchen was closing at 9PM. Very disappointing to say the least and especially on New Years Eve.
UpRoot is one of our favorite spots. It’s a go-to with a creative, delicious, evolving menu & consistently spectacular service that offers a wonderful, overall experience every time!
Our experience at Uproot was mostly a very positive one. We enjoyed our meal and our server Naomi was fabulous! The ambiance was that of a NYC restaurant which was quite appealing. So many little details like cleaning the crumbs in an elegant way, removing silverware after appetizers and replacing with new ones before dinner, and giving a ticket to pick up our leftovers were some of the nice touches that set Uproot apart from other establishments. The one thing that left us shaking ours heads was the choice in music. Absolutely unacceptable music being played for eating dinner at 5:30 in the evening. What the?????
Always a wonderful experience with exceptional service. This is our go to place. I highly recommend Uproot.
Heard via word of mouth this place was good and wanted to try it out. Tried one of their cocktails and thought the alcohol to taste ratio was well balanced. Ordered the pork chop and wasn't disappointed - large piece that wasn't dried out. Date ordered the poke bowl and loved it. We got the shrimp dumplings to start and although there was only 4 they were super tasty. Will definitely go back!
Great food, impeccable service and wonderful ambiance. Can’t ask for much more in a suburban setting. Pricey for the suburbs but worth it every now and then to splurge.
