Our server was Kaitlyn & she was adorable and wonderful. She had great recommendations and was very friendly. The food was SO good, ended up taking leftovers home because we ordered a little too much food for just the 2 of us. Will definitely be back for dinner - Kaitlyn also mentioned their brunch, so it's likely we'll check that out as well!

The owners of this place are very hands on. The staff remembers us (maybe just because of our cute dog!) and they always stop by to say hi even when they're not our server. This time I took my parents and sister here. Food was great! They enjoyed their experience as well. PS I'm so glad the brussels sprouts are back on the menu! Also, the squash dish with pomegranate is super delicious!

While my mom was visiting Chicago, she and two of my friends made a reservation for Unite on their recommendation. We arrived to a short wait, which was no big deal. The bartender was incredibly nice, and we were seated in great moods. From the beginning of our experience, it seemed like our waitress was pretty stressed. Three out of the four of us have worked in service, and we assumed that something was going on with another table while we waited a while to be asked about drinks. About a half hour after we were seated, we finally received our bottle of wine. The food we ordered was excellent, my only complaint there was that when my steak arrived cold (I had ordered it rare, but it was quite cold), I mentioned this to the man who asked how our food was, and he took it away without asking if I wanted to send it back, including the sides I had put on my plate. The steak returned to me without sides, and I had to ask the man for them back, which he eventually brought in a little side bowl. Throughout our meal, our waitress checked on us once in passing. I should mention here that we didn't have a bad time. Having worked in service, we all understand that off nights happen, and that there was probably something happening behind the scenes to stress the staff out. But for a meal where you're spending about $40 per person (we would have spent more had our drinks been checked on), a modicum of service is expected. I'd love to return sometime to get a second impression, but until then, I would only recommend this place on a weeknight.

My wife and I came to Unite for our second anniversary. We ate their the night we got married and the first and liked the food and decided to make it tradition. With one exception. My wife has been on a special diet and can't have oils, sauces, etc. So we asked our waiter to prepare her steak that way. Then she requested a simple side of vegetables, any kind, steamed. Broccoli, spinach, anything. No can do, and not available says the waiter. He doesn't even bother to go ask the chef. When we were almost done, the owner came out and apologized and said that we should just call ahead next time for special arrangements. I don't ever remember going to any other high end restaurant (this is somewhat expensive) and not being able to get a simple steamed vegetable as a side by just asking for it then. Maybe I'm asking too much.

This place was perfect for my brother who is new to the West Loop and myself who is from the suburbs. It is a gem and has such a lovely ambiance. The sexy seating in the front is like a lounge and perfect for cocktails and a date. They also made sure my salmon and Brussels sprouts (AMAZING) were prepared completely gluten free because I have Celiac disease and am highly allergic. Our server Daisy was sweet and very helpful in recommending beers to the boys and wine for me.

My boyfriend and I always try to find new places to eat at in Chicago and we yelp all our restaurants before we go to them. This one naturally had good reviews. We went with the restaurant week special and then ordered mac and cheese as well. It may have been one of the most perfectly cooked (medium rare) pieces of steak I have ever ate. The steak tartare was outstanding as well. The service was amazing too, I think the manager was serving us the food and he was very friendly.

I was slightly underwhelmed with the food. First, we had the wings- they were bland. They had a heavy sauce on the outside but flavors did not penetrate the actual meat of the chicken. Next, Had the hanger Steak, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. On the upside the lamb meatballs, toffee pudding and carrot cake were delish. I would visit again to try other menu items, since this is such a well appointed and inviting space.

Not sure what all the hype is about this place, but it was just alright. We were expecting to be blown away, but we went this past Sunday and ordered off their regular menu and restaurant week menu and both were just okay. The infamous hanger steak, nothing special. My brother and I both ordered our steaks medium well. He was given a medium steak. I received a well-done steak. The lobster mac and cheese, we found maybe 3 pieces of lobster. The salmon was good, but nothing spectacular. The only dish we all enjoyed was the mushroom risotto. I will also note that we waited 1 and a half hours for our entrees to arrive. Pretty disappointing, probably won't return.

Trevor made us feel so welcomed as did our waiter, Aaron. Aaron so expertly guided us through the dishes and cocktails that we felt we met a new friend who brought us delicious dishes of food! It was all excellent. We ate vegetarian this time but have been with friends who loved the meat dishes they enjoyed on another occasion. Urban Unite, it was wonderful again. Thank you. We'll be back.

It's been nearly a year since I've been to Unite. Where as the quality of food and menu is still top notch, I prefer the old style of their al a carte menu. For groups, it was enjoyable to just all order a bunch of sides and individual entrees. This time around entrees came with very small portioned sides. It seemed like I paid more and got less...definitely less of a variety to try all of the delicious sides Unite has to offer. Specialty cocktails are still my favorite here. The west town is by far one of my favorites of any cocktails i've had in the city.

I've been here with a big group and also with my husband and 2 teenage kids. Fantastic service, nice variety of menu options and have not been disappointed with anything on the menu - from the flatbreads to the salmon to the pork chops! We love the atmosphere - it's cool without the feeling that they are trying so hard to be cool.

My wife and I have been talking about trying Unite since we moved to West Town 6 months ago. We're fools for waiting so long. We went on Tuesday night to take advantage of half-price wine bottles. We started with Lobster Mac & Cheese, followed by the Salmon (for her) and the Ribeye Steak (for him) as the main course. We finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. Service: Our waitress did a great job recommending a white wine that complemented both the salmon AND the steak. Also, both our waitress and the owner (Joe) went out of their way to make sure our meal was perfect. Atmosphere: The restaurant does a great job providing an upscale meal in an inviting atmosphere with very reasonable prices. Dinner: The Lobster Mac & Cheese was delicious, and surprisingly lighter than most other Mac & Cheese dishes we've had elsewheere. Both entrees were cooked perfectly, and we thought for the price (~$40), the steak is one of the best we have had in Chicago. Dessert: The dessert was amazing; so amazing that we're considering going back simply for that...before it's removed from the seasonal menu. Overall: We found it refreshing to eat @ relatively new Chicago restaurant that clearly prioritizes providing great food & service over creating an exclusive environment. We'll definitely be coming back as much as possible. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone, especially West Town dwellers.

Really enjoyed the knowledgeable server who did a great job recommending drink pairings and wines with our meal. I ordered the Bavette's cut steak which was flavorful and delicious. The cauliflower side we ordered was under cooked and dry despite the romesco sauce. The drink menu was fun and tasty. Appreciated the good service all meal long and the chef/fm coming out as a follow up as well.

We had a really wonderful evening here. The menu has so many delicious things to choose from, I recommend just ordering many dishes and sharing. The calamari, wings, meatballs, flatbread, brussels sprouts were fantastic. Then we got the burgers, probably on of the better burgers we have had in the city. There were 5 of us and we all loved our meals. Sorry no room for dessert. Nice beer and wine list. Service was excellent too!

We love every item we order every time. The veggie flat bread is a great start and the roasted artichokes were amazing. The salmon and hangar steak are always prefectly cooked and simply delicious. The cookie ice cream sandwich was a great ending.

Awesome for a date night. We went for a birthday celebration. The staff was friendly and helpful and we loved the vibe there. Food was AMAZING! We had the calamari, hanger steak, and ice cream sandwich for dessert.

We had a great vegetarian meal as a group -- vegetarian burger was delicious and home made. Side dishes of roasted cauliflower, mac and cheese, baby artichokes, french fries were delicious. Unite Urban Grill (honestly, a strange name) is one of those excellent, neighborhood-y American bistros most neighborhoods aren't lucky enough to have. Sandwiches to steaks, interesting side dishes, clever cocktails, beers - you'll find something that sounds good on the menu and chances are it will impress you. Excellent quality food and service. Funky, tasteful decor. There is nothing overwhelming about Unite, and I mean it in a good way.

Nice staff committed to customer service and business success. Also knowledgable about total menu. Food was good but not a top tier steak house as the staff boasts. It is a nice neighborhood place for good food.

Our waiter, Aaron, was outstanding - from his knowledge and feedback of our wine selections to, really, just about everything. He's a keeper! Wild Mushroom Risotto was incredible as were the Brussels Sprouts. This is one place where I would enjoy trying everything on their menu - too bad we're just visiting for the weekend. Most memorable!

Urban Unite grill is a great place to eat in West Town. The menu changes seasonally. Everything I have ever had was amazing. The pork chops are outstanding. They are very juicy and seasoned well. The lamb meatballs are excellent. I have had them in a red sauce with crostini and with a corn salad and some sort of southwest dressing. The shrimp skewer is great. The desserts are to die for as well. I always get something, and I am not a dessert person. Recently had the carrot cake. Yum!

The food was okay and not worth all that money. Our food took forever to come and restaurant was not busy - 2 other people there. When it finally did come out, my shrimp was cold. I did not have energy to complain so I said nothing. I just wont come back again, not worth the money. There is a Cuban right next door. I would have gotten 2 plates of food for the price I paid for 3 cold shrimp skewers! ;-(

I'll be back for sure! It is so great to see a small place just doing a killer job rather than focusing on magazine write ups and parking expensive cars out front. Great place!

Unite Urban Grill is trying hard to serve great food, innovative drinks with good service. The owner checks in with every table to get feedback, and explain the genesis of the unique dishes when asked. I had a watermelon feta salad that didn't look like anything I've ever seen before. It was a slab of watermelon served with a salad of arugala on top. It was served with a steak knife, which was needed to cut through the thick fruit. The owner explained it was his wife's invention. You freeze the watermelon infuse it with balsamic vinegar, and top with greens and crumbled cheese. Very refreshing and substantial on a hot day. Drinks, named after neighborhoods in Chicago, bring unlikely combinations together with more or less success depending if you like things like alfalfa syrup in your cocktail. I only give the food a four because the mushroom risotto was uninspired, and not particularly tasty. The flatbread, covered in a black bean puree with sliced hot peppers, on the other hand was thin, soft, spicy and delicious.

We had a fantastic dinner Saturday night at Unite with our two teenage sons. The service couldn't have been better and there was something on the menu for each of us. We can't recommend this restaurant enough. The owners go out of their way to provide a friendly atmosphere and the food is delicious.
