The food wasn’t special. The apple salad was tasteless and none of the items ordered were special. The service was good and they have offered us dessert for our experience. However, I wouldn’t come back again.
Roof top dining with no umbrellas for the table we were seated at for a 2 pm reservation. They were not ready for a table for 5 when we got there.
The food and atmosphere was spectacular and I saw why people rant and rave about the rooftop. However, I went there on a double date and we were seated directly in front of the DJ stand and could not carry a conversation without yelling at each other. Overall was a nice experience but was overwhelmed by the music. Upon making my reservation I asked for a "nicer table, as it would be a double brunch date, and our first experience. Just felt they didnt read it or completely disregarded it.
Fun experience with nice view of downtown Minneapolis. Service was very slow, and the food was alright. Still an enjoyable experience even if a let down. I don't think it was worth the money.
Nice place to go on a Sunday. Loved the atmosphere and food was fantastic. Mom was impressed.
Had an issue with my food being messed up 2 times had to get the manager involved.
Not a stellar showing food was ok at best, at 9:30 Bc of how the service and my food had to be remade 2 times they switched over to an outside “club” and dinner was rushed. Overall not a great experience
Had an 8:00p reservation for an outdoor table. Arrived on time, told we couldn't go upstairs, no word on how long the wait would be. Finally allowed to go upstairs at 8:25p, after sitting in a non-functional bar area.
We were seated at an obvious add-on table way in the back, wobbly, mismatched chairs, still not wiped down from previous diners. Instead of a nice view and ambiance, we were about three feet from all the DJ gear and a waitstaff station, with no view of the sky and skyline whatsoever. No one came to our table for more than five minutes.
So we left and spent $425 at Crave, nearby.
The sun was beating down on the faces of two of our party and we weren't the only ones. It was so bad that the table beside us asked for to go boxes and decided to eat their dinner at home. There were umbrellas in the shaded section but no one made a decision to possibly move those umbrellas to shade those of us stuck in the sun. We had a great waiter, he was very nice.
We loved the food and service. However, our group was placed right next to the DJ and we could not hear each other without yelling. We asked to move when there were clearly other open table but they didn’t move us.
Really good service. Went on a Friday night and it was busy but our server was on top of our drinks and food was served quickly and tasted hot and delicious!! The night sky was awesome to see with the city scape. Enjoyed the whole experience.
Great place, amazing atmosphere with great service and drinks!
Food was great but tables were super close together (we were practically sitting on top of the party next to us) and the music from the DJ was way too loud to hear anything our server or each other was saying. Umbrellas would have been nice since it was blazing hot - we knew we were going to be outside, and put sunscreen on preemptively, and still even got burnt because we were placed directly in the sun. If we had been placed in the shade it would have been too close to the DJ to hear anything. Again, not the worst dining experience but for a day as hot as yesterday maybe don’t have brunch unless you have some heat combatant measures.
The ham and cheese skillet scramble and also the biscuits and gravy had so much cayenne pepper in them that it made it hard to taste the other flavors. Blueberry pancakes were light and fluffy but my husband said they were a little dry, no extra syrup or butter provided.
Food was mediocre at best and the server seemed very unhappy to be working.
We went to celebrate a birthday at brunch and I had a lobster blta that was fabulous! Unfortunately the day was extremely hot and without umbrellas I was baking in the sun after 40 minutes! No shade anywhere, except at the bar right in front of the DJ and very loud music. Fun atmosphere, but be prepared for loud music and bring your sunscreen!
Our reservation was at 8:00, we weren't seated until 8:45. The best part was that we were asked to then leave at 10:00 because the Dj set was starting. No comp was offered. No coming back.
The food was the main issue. I had a steak salad and every piece of steak was full of fat and gristle. I was unable to eat it. The rooftop itself looked a little dirty and worn. I like the rooftop idea but hoping they can improve this.
We had a reservation for 12 o’clock reservations weeks in advance, and when we arrived we were informed that they needed to start setting up for an event at 1 and that we would need to be out in an hour. The food came very quickly so we were able to get out but my friend ordered the cinnamon roll and it was rock hard. We ordered bottomless mimosas but were told that because of the event the cutoff was in 10 minutes. While they didn’t charge us for alcohol, I was disappointed in the experience as we were not told until we showed up that we couldn’t enjoy the experience. It would have been nice to have been contacted in advance so I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
Everything was cold. We ordered a cinnamon roll, classic breakfast, and pork belly skillet, along with a coffee and bottomless mimosas. The warmest item was the fried egg on my skillet. Yes, it was warmer than the coffee.
There's also a DJ for some reason and just made it hard to have a conversation.
Lastly, none of the staff was wearing masks for about the first half hour until someone asked them to. Take that as you will.
Place needs to be fixed up considering the price. Features were dusty, wind was able to knock a lot of things over (and a pole/curtain feature actually hit a group of people), and dress code needs to be enforced (starting with staff). Website says business casual...t shirts are not business casual.
The tables were extremely close together and you could potentially touch the next table. we found bugs and things floating in the water and hair in the food. wasn’t as pretty and scenic as the pictures food was okay.
This was our first visit to Union. In a word amazing. The food, staff and all around vibe was outstanding. The staff all went well above nad beyond. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
Service was great, server was amazing! Good was amazing! Atmosphere was amazing
Prior to arriving, I had called earlier about expanding my reservation to one extra unexpected guest, from 8 guests to 9 guests. I was told there was two large parties booked right after us and capacity is full. However, when we arrived, there was an empty table, with well over 8 seats, that remained unaccompanied the entire duration. We had to leave out one of our guests because of this! In addition, when we arrived we noticed how closely all the tables were together. There was a large party of guests behind our table, and every time they got up, their seats would bump into ours. We were not offered to be seated somewhere else, not even to the table that was empty which was mentioned earlier and located further away. We were also seated closely to the DJ, and the noise level was outrageously loud, with the large party included. That specific day we attended, the weather was sunny and high 80s. Therefore, the restaurant happened to have an open rooftop and we felt the weather. Our water were rarely filled and I had to personally call over the waiter multiple times to refill our water. On the bright side, the food did not take long and it was decent, price and quality wise. However, my group and my personal experience at union rooftop as a first time customer was not the greatest. I’ve heard great things about this place from friends and family, but maybe we happened to come on the wrong day? It was busy, loud, and hot. This is not the best environment we imagined union rooftop to be, but we made the best of it.
The Wagyu burger was pretty thin, and not the medium rare I asked for - the one at Crave is way better! The fries were good though. $14 for a Sangria is too much. The server Terrell was really good though, always noticed as soon as we tried to get his attention but wasn’t overfrequent.
Food was below par. My salad had so much dressing on it, I felt I was drinking the bottle of dressing. Just overall left something to be desired.
Food was one dimensional, not too many flavors but it got the job done. The service was pretty slow. We ordered bottomless mimosas and it was only filled twice. There was a lot of wait after our food, we hoped to have some sort of birthday cake after. It finally happened after a while. I understand the place was busy, it just seemed like our table wasn’t a priority compared to others. Overall experience was okay, enjoyed the view and experience. Food and service was a little slow.
No prices for drinks, didn't know until the bill hit...oops. why have prices for wine and half the drink menu if you aren't gonna do it for everything wtf that's lazy. There was a ton of people and it was everyone's birthday, I was just trying to have a good night out.
Great food and awesome spot. Retractable glass roof so cool Views all seasons. Have always had a great time there
Food was average, service was consistent.
The food was great specially the cocktails are phenomenal!!! Their blueberry cocktail and blackberry cocktail are one of a kind!!! I highly recommend this place.
Always such a lovely time here! Staff were friendly, and the vibe was great! Perfect for a girls' night out.
The hostess had the worst attitude. Although we had a reservation she sat us right in front of the DJ who was blasting music so loudly that our ear drums were going to burst. Couldn’t even hear the person next to me speak even when shouting. When asked to move to a different table, the hostess gave attitude and reluctantly moved us. She gave the people before us a table much further away from the DJ and although there were open tables she still sat us at the worst possible spot. Our server however was very kind and professional unlike her.
Absolutely would recommend this place! So good! Calamari was super good!
The live DJ and saxophone is too loud to even have a conversation. We were seated near the front with the amp pointed directly at us. We had to text to each other because we couldn't hear a word we said. We had to colonics l communicate to the waitress with nods and pointing. I get it's your vibe and everything but when you seat people so close to speakers that loud, it's just aggrevating.
Food was ok, service was underwhelming. The environment is dirty. If you're going to have a rooftop restaurant, provide a nice way to get there. The elevator is slow and can only accommodate 1 group at a time. The stairway is DISGUSTING!
It was nice to have music, but it would have been nice to be able to hear and talk to the other people at my table. It was a disappointing experience.
Music was way to loud. I asked the hostess to ask the DJ to turn it down. She would not do that. We were not the only one who complained. Would not go back because of that. Way to loud-had to shout to be heard!!!!!
Customer service sucks , charges my card wrong price , food was not worth the money. Orange was served to us hot with no ice , the mimosas was hot not ice . Only got three rounds of mimosas for $15 with a 90 minute table time
Food was great. Place is cute. I was shocked to see that almost all the waiters/waitresses did NOT wear a face mask when they were simply walking around and even when they were serving food to us. I read the guidelines that they posted and said that "waiters are required to wear masks". Service was slow. Took well over 30 minutes to get two orders of egg benedict. Did not get water refilled. Place was busy but not overly jam packed.... I would come again. Hopefully it will be better and hopefully the waiters/waitresses will have masks on this time..
