UNION Rooftop Ratings and Reviews
We had a great time celebrating our son's 25th birthday and also his little brother's 19th. The sparkler candle was a great touch and they both felt special. We loved he glass all around withe the views of the city on Hennepin. Food was fabulous and our server was so caring and helpful!
This was a surprising 4 stars for me! I had been here before and recently noticed they changed the menu. In the past, the menu was fairly expensive and the food wasn't great. Not a place you would want to go before a show. Since the menu changed we decided to give it a try before the Brave New Workshop show. I was actually VERY impressed.
I had the Tuna Poke and Beet Salad and both were seasoned well and done perfectly. Beets can be undercooked sometimes and these were just right. I will be coming here more often when going to shows in the area.
Food (filet), wine & service were all excellent. We were there on a Wednesday evening before a show.
Was seated next to windows where it was too cold to sit to be totally comfortable during -0 temps. Table space was tiny. Restaurant didn't appear to be clean, needs a freshening up.
I went to Union Rooftop for my birthday and had an awesome experience! Delicious food for a reasonable price and very fast and friendly service. Love the skyline views! Free birthday dessert was also a plus! Highly recommend the truffle fries as an appetizer - best ever!
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner before going to see a show at the Orpheum. The atmosphere was really relaxed and enjoyable, and we loved being able to look out across the street and see the Minneapolis skyline. The food was good and came quickly. We'd recommend!
Can we be honest? This restaurant is terrible and you should avoid it. Let me tell you what I ordered. I ordered the calamari as a starter. The calamari comes with fried peppers. That sounds great, but it was overwhelming or they were running out of calamari, because about 3/4 of the plate was fried peppers and not calamari, but we ordered calamari. Total joke. My date ordered the Steak Frites. Seems like a safe choice. The waiter told us it would be timed appropriately to come out after the appetizer. It came out cold. COLD! It was steak frites. How do you mess that up? They did. It was terrible. Do not go here. Repeat. Do not go here.
I was recommended to go here for my husband's birthday. The venue was so cool and the food was fantastic! The only things that could have been slightly better: 1. making sure wait staff knows of any special notes in reservation as she did not know it was my husband's birthday until I told her. 2. The gluten free notations on the menu were done by hand. It seemed a little "cheap" but it didn't bother me. Just surprised there wasn't a notation on some of the food already to alter for gluten free. 3. The waitress knew I couldn't eat gluten but didn't ask if the appetizer (which was notated to be altered to be GF on menu ) should be GF so I could only eat part of it. The attention to detail on things like this, really makes a difference.
Either way, the place was great. Service was fast! It was a "hopping" place with a holiday party going on so it was louder than I expected but not too bad. Great place for a birthday... only about 6 other people celebrating their birthdays there too. :)
The citrus suave used for the salmon was so yummy, I need that recipe for my home life😘 and for desert I would recommend the apple pie ala mode, there is not enough great things I can say about desert. The vanilla bean ice cream was so delicious and the mini apple pies were thee best I've ever had, even better then my mom's apple pies😁😁😁.
Great service from server and co-servers. Food was good. Mimosas were great. Coffee not hot. No vegetarian, dairy free options. Hostess was not friendly. Staff was not ready at 10:00 when the restaurant was supposed to be opened. They seemed to be scrambling to get set up. We even had to wait outside while the doors were being unlocked a few minutes after 10:00 am.
The food was really good but the service was mediocre. I told the lady I had made a reservation on OpenTable which she failed to check me in with. The server brought out one wrong entree but gave us chocolate cake to make up for the mistake. We went around 930 and it was a little loud and I had no idea it turned into a dance club later in the night.
When I made the reservation I clearly indicated in my reservation that this a birthday celebration and if I need to make a cake order a head of time. I had never been contacted by the restaurant, I had to call a day before to check for my request. When we we're there, I had to ask for the birthday cake when the waiter want to bring the bill. The service was kind of poor and unprofessional, unlike other top-rated restaurant. In fact I was disappointed by our experience in this restaurant. However, I act as a gentleman and left a good tip, but definitely will not come here or recommend this place to anyone.
I went to Union Rooftop for my birthday and my overall experience was not very impressive. When we first arrived there was a bartender who told us we were not able to use the elevator to get to the rooftop, which my family and I found out was a lie when we were leaving. Not sure why he felt it necessary to tell us to take the stairs. Additionally I made reservations for the rooftop specifically and when we arrived at the top I indicated my name and they did not have a table ready. I feel by making a reservation this should have been prepared in advance. Lastly I chose this restaurant to get a good view of Minneapolis however apperently the doors were broken and we told an employee would come open them for us however they never did. Overall if you’d like to feel like you’re eating breakfast at a bar at 2 o’clock in the afternoon this is the place for you!
Great overall experience! This is a great place to go if you are new to the city - definitely has a tourist-y vibe being the only year-round rooftop in Minneapolis. Food was good, appetizer portions could have been bigger for the price but main entrees were plenty filling. It is loud due to the construction of the space, but still a cool spot to visit!
