About
Went there for Valentine’s Day.
Started with the Bread and Giardinere (wasn’t worth it) and the Pork Meatballs (very good). Shared the Endive Salad which, except for the endive, had limited ingredients. Shared the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra which was good. I had the Lamb Al Latte which they deconstructed so that it was the texture of pull pork and 5 small pieces of potato. She had the Pork Loin which was undercooked (we should have sent it back). Dessert was the Olive Oil Cake (unremarkable) and dessert wine. I also had 2 glasses of Cabernet and she had a beer.
The dinner came to $233 and with tip $292.
I was prepared to spend this amount so it was not shocking. That said, the overall quality of the dinner, given this expense, was disappointing. I have had better dinners for much less at other establishments. It may be due to how busy it was and the occasion, but at these prices, the quality and a reasonable quantity should be there.
I've always been loving this place. the place is very small but cozy.
food is very delicious
great food, great people, the best in Pasadena and far beyond
Excellent pasta dishes. Great service. Will be back for more!
The food as always is delicious. Friendly good service. Love this place for brunch!
Ever dish we ordered was delicious. They make everything and it shows. Pasta is the best and only surpassed by pasta we’ve had In Italy. Go here every time we are in Pasadena. Not to be missed.
We were seated promptly at the time we had booked. Service was great. Food was amazing as usual, especially the wild mushrooms, squid ink lumache, and tonnarelli cacio e pepe. Olive oil cake was the perfect finish.
Food overpriced. Service too fast. Tables too crammed together.
Space is a bit tight but food and service were very good.
Wonderful juxtaposition of flavors and service!!
Excellent tasting food. Small space. Ordered roasted lamb shank. Came as a lamb patty. Delicious but for $37 I expected lamb on a bone.
Good food, good service.
Very tasty food and creative recipes. I love the food!
Fresh pasta was great!
Union hit every mark for our dinner on December 27th. We were welcomed warmly, seated quickly and received immediate attention. As suggested we ordered and shared, appetizers, main dishes and even a bit of dessert. The burrata, charred octopus and the meatball apps were wonderful. (How can you make a meatball sing?) The Torchetti pork ragu was a delight and so much lighter than expected and the polenta with wild mushrooms was a dreamy as others described. Thank you and we hope to come again on our next visit to Pasadena.
The simplistic decor cleverly hides the phenomenal dining experience awaiting the patrons of Union. The service is fantastic, as the serving staff works together to create a seamless eating experience. The cuisine is delicious - homemade pastas with delectable sauces and desserts that are wonderful.
Sunday Brunch was perfect for a kick-back get together with out of town guests. Food was casually creative and a pleasure. Service was totally attentive and non-intrusive. All-in-all, very enjoyable!
This was my first self-professed farm to table restaurant and it was excellent. Six dishes, 2 to die for (Chicken liver, Torchetti), 1 very good (mushroom polenta), 2 good (spaghetti, panna cotta) and one not so good (octopus, over cooked, but that can happen in a flash). Would have liked to have seen more of the ingredients on the menu, many dishes were spicy and too much so for my wife. A little more salt here and there would have suited us more.
The service was splendid, the room is just ok, but not a distraction. Prices were reasonable. Worth a try if you like good unique food.
We really enjoy the food that’s why we keep coming back... the staff is great... unfortunately the noise level is high and the seating is very tight. I am sure this is not the first time you have heard that... that being said we will be back.
Food is very tasty and services are good. However, it is a bit pricey!!
The meal was fantastic. Fresh and simple and so very flavorful. Recommend sharing each item among 2-3 people. For 2 people we ordered one item from each section of the menu and could barely finish. For 3 people, I’d order just one more item and there would be enough. (You can always order more later if needed)
One bite of the lamb, and you wonder how they were able to get so much flavor in the tender fall off the bone pieces. It comes with fresh arugula in citrus, a needed acid for the richness. The Tonnarelli was excellent. Oh, and the bread. Don’t skip it. You'll want some to sop up the amazing juices.
I discovered this restaurant when I went to Pasadena for a wedding. It was so good that I went again next day. Fast forward two months and I went back to Pasadena for a couple of days, and I took my son for his birthday. The food is superb, and the wait staff is beyond amazing. I was lucky to get a table when I did, because 15 minutes later it was packed and people waiting outside. This is a must place to eat.
Best food- everything is homemade from the pasta to the bread and butter! Outstanding service! Make your reservations early - a little hard to get into.
The service here is as incredible as the food. Everyone is professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt. The host even brought out two glasses of complimentary Prosecco to help us celebrate our anniversary. Highly recommend !!!
The best Italian food I’ve had in Los Angeles. I could’ve licked all of the dishes. MUST get the mushroom polenta and the spaghetti alla chitarra
Food was fantastic and so was the service. Would definitely recommend Union.
They seem to have increased their prices… And their wine menu leaves much to be desired. However the quality of the food is superb!
Had a gift card
Food was good though almost cold (plates should be heated) and the servings were minimal (same for the wine: not even a finger !!??). Wouldn't recommend.
OMG.... soooo good. Best fresh pasta ever. Will definitely be back!
Loved our server - although regretfully I forgot his name! We sat near the back towards the bathroom in a private-ish corner that may be used for larger parties. Our server was really knowledgeable and friendly and had wonderful suggestions for us as none of us had dined there before. The food was as delicious as he had carefully and accurately described - the burrata, the pork meatballs, the mushrooms with polenta and truffle, the cappelletti with brown butter and sage, and the the squid ink pasta. Another server saw that we were all using some of the bread we had left from the first course and offered to bring us more bread to sop what was left from the dishes. Amazing. And although we had gone for our friend’s birthday, we had decided to skip dessert, but our server surprised her with an order of biscotti with a candle. That was such a nice touch and helped to conclude a fantastic meal and experience. Needless to say we’ll all be returning.
Great restaurant!
As always it was Amazing!
The best food in town. Every time. No question. If you can get a table, this is truly one of the only restaurants I care to go to. I'm never disappointed. The servers are always super knowledgeable and nice. It was a little cold and the music was a little too loud this time, but always a pleasure. Highly recommended!
We were there on the first day they started serving brunch. The food was all delicious and the service was very good and very friendly. We loved it!
Amazing pasta and service. Love the cozy interior. Will be back! A true Pasadena gem, and love their farm to table philosophy.
The restaurant begun brunch service only for Sunday. I would like to have more of Greek selection seen in dinner menu.
The food is outstanding, so no complaints there.
In the winter type, you need to install one of those slow close mechanisms on the door and a velvet curtain to keep the warm air in and to make the tables close to the door appealing.
Lighting needs work. You need some sort of votive on the table. Currently, all the lighting is from above, which makes everyone's bags under their eyes pronounced. You want to make people look and feel fabulous with better lighting, so this needs a bit of a rethink. I suggest wall lighting to balance the overheads and a table votive that reflects the light of those seated.
Coat check - you need one.
The host on Saturday 12/30 was amazing and he deserves credit and thanks. I tried to find him to tip him $20 bucks but he was on break. :(
Food is great as is the service. Ambiance is a little lacking, particularly at the prices charged which were fairly high.
My family of four ordered a total of 4 appetizers and 4 pasta dishes and we ate it family style. Every single dish was amazing!
