Union Park Ratings and Reviews
This was the second dinner we enjoyed at Union Park within a week's time; it was that good. As residents of Cape May we are fortunate to be able to dine at Union Park on a regular basis. The decor, ambiance, service ( our waiter was Ron, a real professional), food were all outstanding.
My husband and I took advantage of Union Park’s “restaurant week” pricing for the second weekend in a row. The menu selections were taken from the regular menu. They were plentiful and delicious. The room is elegantly decorated, lending itself to a romantic dinner. Our server, Lorie, was friendly and efficient. We are hoping to return before they close for the winter.
Positively perfect! My ribeye was the best I have ever eaten anywhere. My wife ate the short ribs and she designated that dish as the best she had ever eaten. My scallop appetizer was sensational! It was a bit like a spicy ceviche and was uniquely presented and tasted fantastic. My wife’s beet salad appetizer was incredible as well.
Add to that the attention of the best server around, Shirley, and you have the best dining experience imaginable.
We (party of 4) just returned to Union Park this past weekend for their “Restaurant Week” in November. They had a lovely menu. Items ordered to start were the crab bisque soup (delicious with a little kick) and Caesar salad. Entrees included poached lobster (so tender and yummy), short rib (done just right) and salmon (best salmon I have ever had). The menu included desserts as well. The fruit tart underwhelmed me but the chocolate desserts were good. Service was very good. We love this BYOB in Cape May.
The food was fantastic. We had Caesar salads to start, delicious. My fiancé had filet mignon, cooked perfectly with a great rub. I had the salmon which was moist and came with great sides. Both desserts were fantastic. Service was good. Overall, a great place for dinner.
The food is excellent: prepared with a deft hand and with creative twists. The service is very attentive and the dining room is nicely appointed. All-in-all an excellent meal, with one exception that was not the fault of the restaurant. Open Table made no mention that this restaurant is BYOB.
My family went to union park over the weekend to celebrate a birthday and it did not disappoint! From before we got there, the staff wasn't so accommodating with all our
Requests, and we went for restaurant weekend which wasn't very busy, but we were attended to with excellent customer service by all the wait staff. The food was
Incredible! We will be back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating. Thank you Union Park for an amazinng and special experience!
We were here during restaurant weekend and felt the food was quite good as well as portions. Typically you tend to get less food but this was quite a good value. I especially want to commend our server who was extremely sensitive to my wife's allergy issues.
Union Park is hands down my favorite restaurant in Cape May. The food, wait staff and atmosphere have been top notch every time I've been there. My husband and I enjoy date night at Union Park and I look for any chance to take other family members and friends there. Please, Please, Please don't ever take the profiteroles off the menu; they are a fantastic end of meal treat. I've already booked my next reservation! Thank you for such a lovely dining experience.
Considering my wife and I are local I can't believe it has taken us so long to eat here. Food was delicious, very satisfied with portion size, just the right amount of food to leave happy but not busting at the seams. Our waitress was great other than seemed to be more tentative to other tables, perhaps the "regulars", which is understandable. Having said that I would recommend to anyone.
Saturday evening 7ish reservation. The restaurant was filled. The noise level was moderate, noisier then our previous visits but we could still carry on a conversation without raising our voices. A BYOB so we came prepared with a vintage champagne which was opened and flutes were provided. Our server came over and delivered our menus and recited the specials (with the prices, which I appreciate) and gave us some time to think. Not a big menu but with enough choices. The room is classic and elegant. We skipped the appetizers because we both knew we wanted to try the desserts. The staff was attentive. The meals were excellent. The server was outstanding, even accommodating my dessert request. This restaurant is first class. We have been coming here for about five years a few times a year and never had a bad experience. We have recommended it to friends who also have enjoyed it. It is not inexpensive, but you get a great experience....every time!
We went to celebrate an anniversary and milestone in life. We always find the food well done. We were seated on a small side porch of just 4 tables, each with one couple. It was quiet and perfect for the two of us (normally we have always been in the main dining room but this was quite nice with views of the street, but no street noise). My appetizer was most unique! Chopped green olives (natural, not pickled in any way) and golden raisons in a honey - white balsamic glaze and topped with a fresh barratta cheese ball with some micro greens. On the side was dark balsamic honey glaze with small dollops of caviar and some pitta wedges for dipping. Most unusual and very good! I had their short rib which is always excellent. Moist, break apart and nicely-sized. The Mrs. had oysters on the half shell (her fav) and said the best of the season so far. They came with a very unique sauce of pureed cucumber with white balsamic and maybe a touch of white wine, but very tasty and different. She had the twin lobster tails (cooked just right) joined by some savory risotto. We shared a chocolate Grenache that was on the illegal side. :-) We will be back and the good news is in November both the lobster tail and short rib move to the prix fix menu of $35 :-) Go if you have not been there for dinner.
This restaurant is, without a doubt, the best in Cape May, NJ. The food is consistently delicious, service is outstanding and the atmosphere is beautiful. The owners take great care and attention to any food allergies and special requests. We go to Union Park for our special celebrations!
Union Park is located in a historic waterfront Victorian era hotel. The dining room is casually elegant. The service is spot on and the food is traditional but with a twist. We ordered from the pre fixe menu. My lobster over risotto was delicious. My husbands chocolate porter spare ribs were tender and full of flavor. The appetizers and desserts were equally creative and well prepared. We have eaten at this restaurant a number of times and have never been disappointed.
Visiting Cape May? Union Park is a must do. Located in a historic beach front hotel, the surroundings are elegant, the atmosphere quite, and the service attentive without being fussy.
Our meal, as always was superb. Tonight: Oysters ( Cape May Salts ) briny cold and delicious, Figs with goat cheese and micro greens sweet and tangy, succulent lamb chops cooked perfectly, and the Duet of Duck plate licking good.
Union Park took it's place as one of Jersey's finest years ago, that it gets better with each visit is testament to Bob & John's attention to customer satisfaction. Don't miss it.
Very disappointed in our experience here. We are very frequent customers (we have eaten here at least 15 times). The service this night was horrible (Elizabeth was our waitress). We had to ask numerous times for water and bread. We were lucky we received that. She also was not pleasant. Our food was mediocre.
