Unicorn Pan Asian Cuisine in San Francisco's Financial District gives you a sampling of popular tastes from all over eastern Asia. Chefs use the freshest local ingredients they can find to make sure each dish is as authentic as possible. Unicorn's menu includes noodles, vermicelli, springs rolls, salads (both vegetarian and non), poultry, pork, lamb, seafood and vegetarian or vegan meals. Try the special Horn of Plenty meal, which is a sampling of many popular dishes served to a minimum of two guests.
At the bar, cocktails of all kinds can be mixed up for your enjoyment. You can also get local Californian wines and popular international beer brews. Unicorn hosts Karaoke at the bar area every Friday from 9pm until midnight. The bar has a small menu of snacks and bites for you to eat between drinks.
The food was not as good as I expected for a Pan Asian place in San Francisco.
loud! indifferent staff. loud. Karaoke bad . Food when they finally remembered it was decent. Did I mention LOUD? Save your bucks unless you like this sort a thing. was not for us.
The food is always fabulous. The tofu in wasabi cream sauce is a favorite. The noise level, even with few dinners is distressing.
great for late happy hour and bar bites.
could get a little loud, but great music, great drinks and great finger food!
We've been wanting to go to Unicorn for ages and were we ever disappointed when we finally dined there. We walked in to a dining room with no place setting and ear-splitting house dance music playing. The food was no better, as our spring rolls were dried out and tasted like they'd been wrapped in plastic and sitting in the refrigerator for two days. We couldn't wait to get out of there.
Unicorn is such a neighborhood gem in the FiDi. There's something on the menu for everyone... from yummy vegetarian dishes to the meat lover. The Asian-themed menu options are very much appreciated. Everyone I've taken here, whether for lunch or dinner, has loved it. Convenient for us b/c we're only a block away!
Though I come here often for lunch, dinner is a bit infrequent. The food is great with a cool fusion of flavors that sound eclectic (coconut and clams?) but actually work really well together. We tried the "Sea"special (three orders( and everything was great - all the way to the deserts!
Though our waiter was a bit unattentive, the rest of the staff picked up the slack and covered our table well...
After not going here since it first open, I was pleasantly surprised it was the same as when it was first opened. My guest and I were happy with my decision.
Awful food
Great service, great food, great restaurant. I have never been disappointed with Unicorn. One of my favorite restaurants.
Love this place! Great food, wonderful staff, delicious drinks... I will definitely be back over and over again.
Food has gone way down hill. My noodles were cold and over spiced.
Great place to meet friends/colleagues in a convenient financial district location. Friendly staff and service. Popular happy hour spot, too.
I have never been disappointed with Unicorn. Great service, wonderful food and lovely décor. Friendly atmosphere and host. I enjoy all there dishes, you can't really go wrong with any of them.
We started by enjoying a couple of cocktails in the bar and our appetisers were truly lovely and authentic in taste. Unfortunately our main dishes didn't follow suit and left us disappointed, hence the score of 3 for food.
Their spicy dishes here should not be toyed around with. I would say that the duck curry and their salads are tasty but a bit pricey for the quality. Took a long time to get service despite us being only the third of three tables being waited on.
Good food, great service, but cramped seating. Way too close to the party sitting next to us.
Good for a business lunch. Surprisingly quiet for lunch at 1:30 pm.
The Friday Happy Hour is well worth putting up with the lively noise level. Great prices on interesting cocktails and the bar bites are delicious.
Did not really care for the ambiance with the dark colors and purple lights. However, the food was delicious.
The food is great with reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and I loved the atmosphere. The calamari with the green sauce was the best!!! I still can't get over how good that was. I'd definitely go back to dine here again.
We have only eaten here at lunch and decided to give it a try for an early dinner on a Friday night. The food was as good as we remembered but the noise level was way beyond bearable. We hurried through our dinner in order to get out of the place. The traffic on Pine Street in rush hour was quiet by comparison.
I always order the scallops and they were still excellent. Today, the service was poor. We were probably the third people in the restaurant and the owner came and took our order quite quickly. But we waited and waited for our food. The restaurant started getting more crowded and people that came in after us all got their food. We asked at least 4 different people to check on our order. The first guy said their was a mistake but they are working on it NOW and it will be right out. Waited and waited even more, ended up asking three other persons to check on it, one was the owner. He says he will have the chefs work on it before they work on the large party. Well, I would think they would work on our order, we were there early and ordered way before all these other people that were eating and finished eating.
When the roti finally arrived, I couldn't even eat it. It was sooo greasy. In their haste to get it out to us, they didn't pat out the excess oil. My scallops were delicious but my co-workers basa was too spicy for her. Then we had to scarf down our food since our lunch break was over.
We went here for happy hour on a Tuesday and also ordered dinner cause it was my nephew's birthday. The choices of alcohol drinks are great and the bar bites are excellent. We loved, loved the Furikake Fries-it's the best!!! The fried chicken wings are great, too! For dinner we ordered the fillet basa, Singapore noodles and the claypot with chicken, etc. and we liked them all. We highly recommend this place, but don't expect big servings :)
This pan Asian restaurant has good food and the portions are generous. The boned trout was fabulous. Really enjoyed the lotus root and mango salad. Surroundings are a step away from the busy Pine Street corridor but it is calm inside with tasteful decor, Asian touches and a range of southeast Asian curries to taste through. Vegan and vegetarian choices are part of the menu, not relegated to some obscure part of the offerings. Nice place. Will go back.

Sort of in the middle -- not casual, not upscale. My favorite is the steak and vermicelli salad. They also have HH specials.
We arrived at the time the restaurant when it opened. However another bigger group came into the restaurant and got better service than we did. The waiter did not even ask us how the food was. And it took a long time before we finally got our check.
We liked the food and the ambiance but service was lacking.

Great food and selection. Servers are always helpful and attentive, never smothering. I've only eaten lunch here so I could not make more recommendations above.
great restaurant................................................................................................................................
Was accomodating/good food/very loud. Friendly staff, but service was a little slow.
Food is delicious with a nice presentation. Music too loud. Hard for the server and customer to hear each other.
Lovely Asian fusion menu well prepared and presented. It was a quiet lunch time but might get noisy in the evenings. They could use some fresh toner for printing their menus.
I usually order the scallops (my favorite) so I can't comment on the other food. Presentation and taste of food is very good. I've gone back several times.
All the dishes are cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. High quality ingredients and wonderful flavors! Reasonable prices, too.
