Uni Sushi Ratings and Reviews
best in the woodlands , always fresh..................................................................................................................................@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The customers I took there ordered a bottomless of Chardonnay that was not chilled. $80 for a room temperature bottle. They went along with it and didn't ruin the evening, but they were annoyed. Server was young and inexperienced and should have shared it wasn't cold before serving it. Otherwise we had a great evening there.
Been here several times now and this was the first I have received poor service. Food is always good here. Come here before concerts at the Woodlands. Service was absent for long periods of time, with drinks running low continually. Other than service, everything was fine.
Went to Uni Sushi last Wednesday night as a party of 4. High marks for the food, decor, and drinks. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. However, the wait for our food and eventually for our check was very, very long. The waiter explained that the wait had to do with "the bartender disappearing", but that didn't explain why we didn't see our waiter past the point of getting our drinks.
We were celebrating a friend's birthday and it was fabulous, as usual. We loved our 7 1/2 roll of sushi (a favorite and unique to Uni Sushi). We enjoyed our pan fried dumplings and lobster rolls for appetizers (favorites again!). Then, the birthday girl ordered the shrimp avocado miso soup and loved it. We ordered the shrimp and scallop bento, which comes with a salad and their miso dressing, which we cannot ever eat there without getting. The shrimp and scallops are cooked in a soy brown butter sauce with thinly sliced jalapenos, which is to die for. The vegetables are tempura fried and the rice has two types of sesame seeds on it for extra flavor. For dessert, she chose the Mango Coconut Panna Cotta. At first, I was sad because they make the best vanilla bean crème brulee that I have ever tasted, but, this dish proved to be excellent!! We loved every bite. We love Uni Sushi and are so happy that it is close to home. Our only disappointment that day was that our waiter had to double as bartender, too, but, we had a great bus-man picking up the slack nobley. All in all, we are happy to have chosen Uni again!!
I had a great second date here. We shared a Millenium roll, Scuba roll, few pieces of escolar, and she wanted to try octopus. The ambience, as well Blueberry Mojitos, really allowed for entertaining conversation. The only thing I would've changed would be the size of table, but it's nothing sitting beside her couldn't alleviate. The sushi and rolls were very delicious. Interesting, in a good way, flavor combinations. The wait staff was not overbearing while still being attentive.
Our first visit to Uni Sushi and we had a great experience all the way around! Middle of the week visit was great as traffic was light, both at the restaurant and for the normally busy area. We had reservations, but really didn't need them on a Wednesday evening.
Massive number of menu choices could have been overwhelming, but our waiter, Donovan, helped us with some great suggestions. He also let us enjoy the food and drink at our own pace, so we didn't feel rushed.
Our food choices came out fantastic...from the Tuna Tar Tare & Rib Eye Beef Rolls for appetizers, to the Angry Dragon & Scuba Diver rolls for dinner, and finally the Apple crisp/cookie dessert. We were treated to an outstanding evening.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and a great experience!
We are regular patrons to Uni Sushi and have been since it opened. This time, we were celebrating a birthday. Because of their advance notice, we were shown to a wonderful booth and had an attentive staff. Our sushi. (especially our beloved 7 1/2 Roll), was delicious. Our miso salad, which we love so much, was up to its usual top-notch standard. For the dessert, we ordered the vanilla bean crème brulee. It was very tasty and had a beautiful presentation. In addition, they painted Happy Birthday on another plate in chocolate. All in all, we were pleased, and more importantly, the Birthday Girl was pleased.
Uni Sushi is located in the trendy Market street area. It is a smartly decorated restaurant with plenty of space. Our table was booked for 8:30 on Saturday night and there were quite a number of empty tables, busy but not packed. The front of house staff, three young ladies were pleasant enough but this seemed like an over use of human resources in that locale. Also the fact that they were gossiping about customers was not a welcome behaviour. The ambience was nice although we found it a little dark. Our waiter was extremely pleasant. Unfortunately not so discriminatory in his recommendations, he thought everything was good. We started with the Miso Soup which we both thought was spectacular. This was followed by the Rib-eye Beef Rolls which where equally spectacular! We also had the lobster and shrimp rolls, this was tempura batter filled with a kind of cream cheese with apparently lobster and shrimp in there somewhere, less than spectacular and could have done with some kind of sweet/spicy sticky sauce to contrast and cut through all the Philadelphia! Another appetiser, the Pork Belly steamed buns were great, the pork belly was beautifully cooked, soft on the inside and sweet and crispy on the outside. They were served inside a kind of white Japanese bun and dressed inside with sliced red chilli and hoy sin sauce. They needed a lot more of that delicious sauce and far less of the extremely HOT chilli! Our final dish was the Yuka roll which was good sushi but not spectacular. The desert, a fried tempura ice cream cake thing was plain awful! Very little ice cream in a thick soggy cake casing with no hint of tempura anywhere to be seen, I've had better straight out of the frozen section from any supermarket. Cocktails were nice, but nothing special. So overall a 3/5 experience that may have been a 4/5 with better choices/recommendations. The 5/5 will require some work in certain areas that will take what is a good solid restaurant to new heights.
Love love love Uni. I order things no longer on the menu and they have zero problem with it. They make it perfect every time. My wife loves sushi, I'm not a fan but so many other options for those who don't like raw fish. Try the fajita roll if you're a steak person! My absolute favorite. Dip in some soy sauce and man it's to die for. So good.
