Underhills Crossing Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Underhills Crossing is simply superb from start to finish. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and makes you feel welcome. The environment is immaculate with small touches of details, such as as the beautiful flowers on each table. Menu options are varied and reasonably priced. Dining at Underhills rather for a simple pre-theater lunch or a special occasion dinner is always a treat. One of the best that New York has to offer.
Restaurant seems to try hard at being very good but just doesn't meet the bar. Nothing was bad but it just wasn't worth the bill. Food was ok, atmosphere ok. Overpriced for what was served which is a shame as I would pay their prices if the food was better. But for what we ate, can get better at other local family restaurants.
The food was less than mediocre. Should I return I'll never order the oysters, they had a smell that stayed with me for the rest of the day. The hanger steak was served almost cold and the fries were reheated. The ravioli that evening was more of a side dish than a full meal. The service was outstanding.
Ambiance was wonderful, drinks were very good. The food was very good! With the exception of the sole with some strange red hot sauce on it. It did not seem to measure up. Calamari, tuna, apps were very nice. Donut desert was nice but it needed a few more donuts added to it! Highly recommend trying the place! They need a new hostess, she was not friendly at all nor accommodating!
Unfortunately we were told it was a bad night Tuesday 08/08 because there were two parties going on.. We waited and waited for the food and when it finally arrived my snapper was cold and Dry. The calamari was chewy as well. It's a shame because you can see by the physical layout and menu someone put lots of work into it. Good wine, bad year! JC
Underhills Crossing is my first choice when out-of-town friends are visiting. It's easy to get to and has all the quality I can get in the big city, here in the suburbs. It has a nice, romantic ambience and the food is always very good. The service is always excellent. They know how to be very professional and at the same time friendly. One thing that was particularly good, was that they stay open, so when it's not typical breakfast, lunch or dinner time, I can have a good meal and it's quiet and there's plenty of seating. My friend and I met at 2pm the other day. It worked perfectly and then afterwards, I was right in the center of Bronxville and got some chores done. Other times I've been there in the evening and there was music and another kind of wonderful atmosphere.
Service was inattentive last night despite a rather empty restaurant. When your waiter can't be bothered to ask about your food you know you are on your own. The kitchen did an excellent job as our meal was delicious. We'll chalk up our rather mediocre experience to the long weekend.
Summer has arrived , which means early cocktail hours in and outside at this lovely
establishment. "White Night" is especially fun and enjoyable. The place is hopping !
Food offerings are always good from their standard menu, but try the specials which are delicious and unusual. Service is pleasant and even if crowded, courteous.
Can't wait to go back.
The joint was jumping...but not for us. We arrived on time for an 8pm reservation and had to wait about 50 minutes for a table. We were lucky enough to get four seats at the small bar but within 30 minutes the crowd was three deep behind us and the noise level off the charts. Drink spillage was a bit of an issue too as folks standing grabbed their drinks from the bartender. The bartender was lovely and the manager handled the situation as best he could, comping us to our bar drinks. Once seated, however, we realized the noise was just as deafening and conversation was really difficult with anyone but the person sitting next to you. Making things worse was live music that you really couldn't hear so it just added to the general din. And while the food was good, it was not a standout. Service was pleasant and professional.
I wish I could give this a better rating since it's a pretty place with a nice staff, but between the noise and crowds, it's clearly not our kind of place. Obviously, its very popularity indicates most don't care about inability to have a conversation, but this is sad coming off my list of places.
we went to this restaurant for Easter Brunch ,
So we expected large crowds and we knew they were having a piano player so we expect the noise level to be up a tick from a normal visit . We brought my in laws and they didn't want to sit up front by the open windows . so they kindly shuffled some things around and got us a table in the back . the waiter was super nice , and very , very patient with my in laws many questions .Everyone was thrilled with their dishes . you can taste the high quality ingredients and the love they put into every dish . this is a wonderful restaurant for date night . we will definitely be going back to this lovely little place
Overall nice place - good for a date , as well as for a celebration dinner for two or four. Also perfect for a casual dinner at the end of the work day as it's a half block from the Metro North station. Food was delicious and the menu is varied. Service very attentive.
