Underhills Crossing Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Just not as good/pleasant as it should have been...Noise level, piped in music, just too high and it took until the third asking to get it adjusted downward...waitress very professional and knowledgeable but the wait time between courses, drinks etc was simply terrible...sensed there were troubles in the kitchen.
IGNORED!! We had a 4pm OpenTable reservation. Arrived at 3:30 and were ignored upon arrival to the time we left. LITERALLY. We entered the restaurant, remained at the hostess table for someone to greet us..NOTHING. I walked over to the full bar, approached a man apparently enjoying himself behind the bar, who looked like a Host, Owner,or Matre'd ,and told him we have a reservation. He came over to the hostess station, and said "yes, you have a 4pm reservation, sit where you like". We chose a table by the window, never to be approached again. No menus, water, drink order, NOTHING. I saw a waiter/bus person twice, gave him eye contact but he went outside. The host/matre'd-man, whatever, seemed to be enjoying his champagne with other bar patrons , laughing and drinking. I apologized to my friend (it was to be her birthday dinner) and we walked out!!!!!!!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
We were very happy with our experience at underhill.. I found it by accident while doing a last minute search on open table. We experienced the best customer we have had in a long time. Everyone was very attentive!! Food was excellent!! Nothing disappointed!!we thought the cost of the food was reasonable.. there was a gentleman playing the piano and he was terrific and of course, added to the ambiance. We look forward to going back!
We all had amazing dishes and cocktails at Underhills. The sole special breaded in onion and panko and served in an anchovy beurre blanc was amazing. The shrimp tempura appetizer was fabulous as was the Veal Milanese entree. The Silician Slap cocktails was one of the best that I ever had.
Jose’s service was great from beginning to end. As well as the other staff. The food was great! Had the octopus appetizer, freshest oysters and frute de mer apps, then a romaine salad for entrees, steak and eggs and Norwegian salmon brunch entrees. Perfect portions and a great wine list. Decor is very modern without overdoing it. I love their attention to deal. Was a great birthday lunch. Thank you to everyone at Underhills Crossing!
Super restaurant. Food and service is outstanding. Especially our server by the name of José. He was funny, helpful, sociable, attentive towards our needs. I have only been going for many years and it has always been excellent. We may need to change the manu once in a while.
Underhills Crossing is simply superb from start to finish. Everyone is exceptionally friendly and makes you feel welcome. The environment is immaculate with small touches of details, such as as the beautiful flowers on each table. Menu options are varied and reasonably priced. Dining at Underhills rather for a simple pre-theater lunch or a special occasion dinner is always a treat. One of the best that New York has to offer.
Restaurant seems to try hard at being very good but just doesn't meet the bar. Nothing was bad but it just wasn't worth the bill. Food was ok, atmosphere ok. Overpriced for what was served which is a shame as I would pay their prices if the food was better. But for what we ate, can get better at other local family restaurants.
The food was less than mediocre. Should I return I'll never order the oysters, they had a smell that stayed with me for the rest of the day. The hanger steak was served almost cold and the fries were reheated. The ravioli that evening was more of a side dish than a full meal. The service was outstanding.
Ambiance was wonderful, drinks were very good. The food was very good! With the exception of the sole with some strange red hot sauce on it. It did not seem to measure up. Calamari, tuna, apps were very nice. Donut desert was nice but it needed a few more donuts added to it! Highly recommend trying the place! They need a new hostess, she was not friendly at all nor accommodating!
Unfortunately we were told it was a bad night Tuesday 08/08 because there were two parties going on.. We waited and waited for the food and when it finally arrived my snapper was cold and Dry. The calamari was chewy as well. It's a shame because you can see by the physical layout and menu someone put lots of work into it. Good wine, bad year! JC
Underhills Crossing is my first choice when out-of-town friends are visiting. It's easy to get to and has all the quality I can get in the big city, here in the suburbs. It has a nice, romantic ambience and the food is always very good. The service is always excellent. They know how to be very professional and at the same time friendly. One thing that was particularly good, was that they stay open, so when it's not typical breakfast, lunch or dinner time, I can have a good meal and it's quiet and there's plenty of seating. My friend and I met at 2pm the other day. It worked perfectly and then afterwards, I was right in the center of Bronxville and got some chores done. Other times I've been there in the evening and there was music and another kind of wonderful atmosphere.
