Owners, Susan and Ben Roberts partnered up with brothers Wes and Chris Wheeler in 2015 and we invite you to enjoy our Contemporary American Cuisine where we utilize Classical French cooking techniques with global influences.
Our beverage program includes a full bar, wonderful local craft beers, and a 150 bottle wine list with 50+ wines by the glass for which Undercurrent has been recognized by both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. We have been rated consistently tops in our class of restaurants.
The ambiance is truly one of the nicest in the area with ample space for you while dining. We now have a truly fabulous patio area. We seat our patio on a "first come first served basis".

I have visited this place a lot lately. Sunday brunch has nice healthy farm fresh food and you can eat for 15 dollars or less.

We were there for a late lunch during the week. My wife had trout and I grilled chicken. Two common dishes on many menus - however, these presentations were not common! The ingredients were super fresh and the flavors did not get muddled together. Daniel took very good care of us... taking time to answer some questions we had.
When I lived in GSO 16 years ago, Undercurrent was a great restaurant . From this lunch experience..... I would say it is still a great restaurant with great service.

The location was beautiful with ample parking across the street. We were greeted by one of the owner/managers and he made sure we were parked safely and the meters had plenty of quarters. He then took us to a very comfortable banquette. The bread they bring to each table was excellent. I had go temper myself! There were three of us meeting for a birthday lunch and the wait staff made the birthday girl feel very special. We each ordered 3 different entrees as well as the watermelon gazpacho. Each selection was divine. From the pork butt to the Summerfield burger to the daily special — each was delicious. For dessert we had the blueberry bread pudding with fresh vanilla whipped cream and caramel drizzle. I was deceased. The best bread pudding I have ever tasted (with Southern Roots in JAMESTOWN coming in a close second). Thank you for making our birthday lunch so special!

Food was tasty, and the waiter wasn’t hasty. We were celebrating Bastille Day so everyone was gay. Qwaffing the wine commending our short time.

OUTSTANDING!!!! Every time we have dinner we say it’s the best meal we have had and that it was better than the last. Tonight was no exception. We both had the rack of lamp and it was incredible!! We have such a great time with Josh.

Thanks for a great Anniversary Celebration.

Had an excellent experience at Undercurrent after not having eaten there in several years Service was friendly and efficient. My scallop entree was perfect and my wife's grilled trout was also very good The bread pudding rounded out a great experience

Fabulous from the time we arrived until we left! (My husband and I are visiting from out of State for work)

Service was spot on!! Host was super welcoming when we arrived...Very friendly Bartender...great cocktails (we had the Rose Spritz and Mule); Table server was friendly and informative and service was prompt; food was DELICIOUS and so so so flavorful....our starters were potato leek soup and shrimp/lobster spring rolls.....(Altho was a bit surprised Spring Rolls were fried....but we are in the South after all! LOL!!); we had the steak and salmon....AHHMAZING!!!! And last but not least BEST BREAD PUDDING EVER!!! A must have!!!!

We will be back!!!

I absolutely loved this place and the food. I had an amazing waitress she was was extremely attentive! I took my husband there for our late Father’s Day dinner and we both left extremely ecstatic about our experience there. We will be returning soon! -Gabby and Joey❤️

The mix of flavors/ingredients in both of our dishes just didn't go well together. My husband is a former executive chef and he agreed. The price we paid for what we got was not worth it. We were very disappointed.

As always Undercurrent never disappoints -- the food, the atmosphere, the service are all outstanding. We were there for Father's Day celebration and although I understand having the blues singer as an added attraction -- it's a very small room to have amplification. I would have enjoyed his music better without the mike and speaker.

First time dining at Undercurrent and we were very impressed. Our server was great and new the menu and ingredients very well. My wife has a peanut allergy and he was certain to make sure nothing came near our meal. Make sure you save room for the bread pudding. Nice little hidden gem in downtown Greensboro.

Half way our dinner they started preparing the whole restaurant for a company dinner the next evening. This was very annoying and made us leave without having desert. I really don’t understand why they did that as they had all day the next day to do that as they don’t do lunch on Saturday. Very disappointed about that. The food itself was excellent.

I have been living in Greensboro for years and decided to try Undercurrent for dinner. What an excellent, scrumptious discovery from the wine, to the entree to dessert! I had the half rack of lamb and wished I had gotten the full! The bread pudding was beyond delicious! The ambiance was perfect, great for small or large groups or an intimate date. I will definitely find myself in the Undercurrent again!

Celebrated a friend’s birthday here. I had delicious soup for first course. I followed this with a crab cake special that was almost totally crab. Delicious. My friend had perfectly cooked salmon. We even splurged on dessert. She had an ice cream flight with three special,homemade ice creams. I had their blueberry bread pudding. It is totally to die for. The restaurant was full at lunch time, but we had no trouble hearing one another. This restaurant is special.

My wife and I were celebrating my birthday and we both ordered the seared scallops,They were perfectly cooked and delicious. I had potato leek soup,also delicious. My wife had the shrimp and lobster spring roll and it was to die for. The spring roll was so good that we decided to return in the near future to sit at the bar and have wine and spring rolls.

My sister and I make a annual trip to Greensboro to visit a dear aunt. We found Undercurrent several years ago. It is always a wonderful evening, delicious food and relaxing atmosphere.

We had a wonderful dinner for two—chicken and fish. The meals were delicious and the wait staff were attentive but not hovering. The trout was so very good—I could never make it at home this mouth watering! We split a salad and it was enough! The waitress made some good suggestions and I appreciated that. She was very knowledgeable and caring. She helped with a wine selection—most helpful as well.

Really nice place for a quiet dinner.
We were in town for a business trip and chose Undercurrent based on their menu choices. We found out we were on the last day of the current menu, and it was going to change the next day. They frequently update based on the season and availability of local foods.
Alvin was our server, and was both knowledgeable and pleasant.
The bread was great - warm and quite tasty - two different kinds, a dill bread and one that was more like sourdough. Both very good.
I had the fried oyster app and the trout dinner (half size) and my companion had the ribeye steak.
All the food was top notch, and prepared very well, both in presentation and flavor. We enjoyed a glass of wine and took a bread pudding with us for dessert later -
yum!
I highly recommend them!

I was not impressed with the food. The lamb was rare. We asked for medium so my wife was not able to eat it. I traded her my Panko encrusted trout was was soggy encrusted. Some dishes were a mashup of so many ingredients they just didn't have much appealing flavor or texture. All that said, it was terrible just not impressive given the great atmosphere and reputation.
