From ALL the staff here at Undercurrent
Delicious. Astounding. Enchanting. Some amazing service, decedent food, and an atmosphere that helped my date and I forget any worries. Worth a 5 star review
Food and presentation was fabulous! The wait staff were courteous and very accommodating. I will return.
We had brunch Sunday the 2/17. The entrees were spectacularly good. Recommend the curry crab soup, it was really nice. Service was solid and attentive. Desserts.... not so much. Are they bought in? Way too sweet and heavy. Tiramisu is not a kind of cheesecake. Coffee was like office coffee.
Make no mistake, this was good and we'll be back! Just won't order dessert.
Food was great only complaint was portion size was extremely small. I understand they want you to get salad or soup with the meal but even with that portions were still very petite
A truly excellent restaurant. While there are other excellent restaurants in Greensboro, this is the best.
Great menu selection and the food was great. Good wine choices
Great service and food!!
My husband and I had lunch at Undercurrents on Valentines Day. The food was great. Our server, Garret was wonderful. He should give classes on how to serve the public. It was great...as always!
Always a great experience. Quality food and service.
Visited for our anniversary, My wife is a vegan so hoping out can be a challenge. I wrote on the OpenTsble app my wife’s likes and dislikes. The chef made up something special for her, No questions asked, That was a first for us and made the experience outstanding!
My husband and I love this restaurant! We have tried other fine dining establishments in the area, but, none compare to the meals we have enjoyed here over the years.
The duck is always perfectly cooked. The scallops are scrumptious. Also, the lobster eggrolls are a must!
This was our first visit to Undercurrent and we were not disappointed. Both the food and service were excellent. This has become our new favorite restaurant in Greensboro.
My food came out raw at first but after a quick send back the chef came out and apologized personally. They took it off my tab and the food was delicious.
My fiancee and I celebrated my birthday at the Undercurrent Restaurant in early February. The menu is not huge in scope and consists of a nice variety of seafood, chicken, duck, beef, pork and lamb selections. The portions are just right, similar to European dining. We did not order an appetizer or soup, knowing that the entree would be sufficient for our appetites. We both ordered products of New Zealand, lamb chops in a rice/cheese base in a sweet/sour sauce dotted with chorizo and butterfish on a rice base with accompanying chili sauce. The lamb was prepared perfectly at medium rare, but the butterfish was over-seared in the pan and somewhat dry. It is a compliment to the chef that no additional seasoning was needed for these two dishes.
The Undercurrent maintains a wide selection of domestic and foreign wines for any wine requirements. This is the second time we have celebrated a special occasion at the Undercurrent Restaurant in a year and would like to thank the hostess for going out of her way to secure a nice photo of us in front of the wine rack.
One of my absolute favorite spots in Greensboro. They never disappoint!
Overall the service was good; the staff was courteous and professional. The restaurant was sort of fancy, but not so fancy that it made me uncomfortable (like I had to know what fork to use for the course being served).
The bread smelled, felt and tasted like it was fresh baked. Our appetizer, the seafood spring roll, was fried to a perfect crunch and the pastry was very light and flaky. My entre was delicious (a special that evening, which was a portion of a ribeye steak, green beans, onions, potatoes, mushrooms in a flavorful sauce).
The desert was difficult to cut (some kind of apple tart), but I'm not a desert person...
All in all, it was good. I'm not one who wants to spend $80 on a dinner for two very often. I'd say the value was just average. We didn't get much food, and my date's portion (salmon) was very small for what we paid...
The food was some of the best we have had in Greensboro. I had he lamb chops, my daughter the salmon, and my wife the chicken. Everything was perfect . The desert was a apple pecan tart with vanilla ice cream and orange marmalade. From beginning to end creative cooking at its best
The only issue was it was my birthday and their was no acknowledgment
From the second we walked into the restaurant we where treated like celebrities. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Waiter was very professional and knowledgeable about the menu, food was 5 stars and worth every single penny we spent. Will definitely be going back again.
The food was an excellent value. Quality ingredients, well prepared. It describes itself as American fare prepared with French technique. I’d say that is an apt description. Good services and very enjoyable white tablecloth ambiance. I would wholeheartedly recommend Undercurrent for an occaision meal on a reasonable budget.
Delightful experience. Only down side was expresso coffee served lukewarm....
The food was outstanding and the service was even better. This has become our Go To Place in the Triad. A delightful experience
Always very good food, and done so well in a professional manner!
Five very good dishes - Terrine split among the three of us, Scallops, Mahi and Duck Leg. The Duck with mole sauce was outstanding as was Alvin's service.
I had a lovely lunch with a friend at one of Greensboro’s favorite restaurants. She had crab cake special, I had Brie, egg, ham on a roll. The spot lends itself to interesting conversation in a comfortable atmosphere. It’s one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Greensboro.
The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. The pace of the meal was dictated by our party, and the food was perfect.
THis is usually one of my favorite restaurants. It advertises that vegetarian options are available. I sent a note through my Open Table reservation that we would have a vegetarian who eats eggs and dairy in our party of 4. Our guest was told by the server that he could choose one of the dinner entrees and remove the meat, or the chef could create something , but he had no idea what that would be. He finally decided on a salad that had boiled egg on it. The salad arrived covered with bacon with the boiled egg on the side.
This upscale restaurant was given adequate warning to have a more inventive vegetarian option which includes protein. If they cannot do a better job with this dietary restriction, they should not advertise that they have a vegetarian option available.
We eat at Undercurrent whenever we can. The food, staff and ambiance is always terrific!
Excellent food in downtown setting. Bar was cozy and sharp.
I was very pleased with the food and overall everything. The only issue is - the tables are rather close together. People could listen to the table next to us and we could hear them. The person beside us could see (stare) right at me the way tables are positioned. Our entrées took a like long to arrive, however were excellent when they did. One other issue is the tables are too narrow to accommodate the items needed on ones table. I had to try to move everything tight together to make room when he brought our wine glasses and opened our bottle. There is not enough room across but too much the other way (so we had to lean forward to talk so the couple next to us didn’t listen). Overall, it is still one of my favorite restaurants to dine in.
This is one of our favorite restaurants for date nights. We decided to go for our anniversary this year. The server/management did everything they could to make it a special evening for us. Not to mention, the food was OUTSTANDING. My wife ordered the Ribeye which had a perfect sear along with no inedible fat/gristle. If you haven't eat here, you need to try it. If you have, you should go back. We are never let down.
We loved our whole experience! From opening the door , to meeting nice staff and eating delicious food. I definitely would recommend this to anyone that wants to enjoy a nice evening.
Always a top choice for a quality dining experience.
We eat at Undercurrents regularly, so we picked it for New Year’s Eve. My duck was undercooked. The waitress never came back to check on us until she thought we were done eating. I asked her to box my duck, because it was undercooked and I would cook it at home. Her response was okay. Not the response I thought she should have. I’m not sure if she was a new server, but we have never experienced this at Undercurrents or should experience this at that quality of restaurant.
We have been to Undercurrent several times and we never been disappointed. The meals are always fantastic, and we always look forward to bread pudding for dessert.
We dined out quite a few times in 2018 but the best meal of the year came on the 362nd day at Undercurrent. Onion soup, fried chicken, salmon, and ribeye were all outstanding. Service was professional but not stuffy.
A long-time downtown restaurant in Greensboro and a real treasure. Both dining rooms and bar are very attractive, well served and with good food well prepared. Recommend the lamb and scallops. I particularly like that there is a choice of smaller plates and that service is accommodating in any changes one might want to a specific dish. Wine list is excellent and well priced. Moving to the bar area is pleasant for after-dinner drinks with friends. Highly recommended.
I love Undercurrent, but this time I had a few issues. One is that the area we were seated in was chilly. I think it would be a good idea to warm the place up well before evening service starts.
I usually love the food here and my entree (lamb) was superb. But the onion soup could have been hotter and the pound cake needs to go back to the drawing board. I have a sweet tooth, but found that too much.
One of those ingredients needed to be toned down. I would have preferred a white, citrus flavored pound cake. Lastly, we had to wait quite a while between receiving our coffee and getting our dessert. The waiter
told us he was waiting on someone else to prepare our desserts. The dining room was not full while we were there, so I think this could have been done better.
As always, a marvelous experience.
Wonderful restaurant, highly recommend this place for a nice evening out or for a special occasion. Great service !
