Under The Cork Tree
Great place to meet friends or go on a date.
The air conditioning system was not working and it was 97 degrees outside. We had to ask because it was so warm and then we noticed large fans. They moved the fan from our section and we has to ask multiple times for them to point the stand up unit in our direction. The buffet was not kept well, presentation was cramped and messy. There were no available condiments and everything needed salt. It was very warm and the fruit nor the yogurt were on ice. The specialty cocktail list looked great, but the cocktails we ordered didn't live up to their description. Maybe if it weren't so hot it would have been better.
Fix the A/C unit! If we didn’t have a late reservation we would’ve left. After reading a few reviews it seems that the A/C unit has been out of order for some time. I don’t know many people who will spend a premium to have dinner in a hot and humid restaurant.
Great wine selection But food was ok. Our sea bass tapas was a little fishy and we did not eat it.
We would like to visit again but we are going to wait until the air conditioning is fixed.
Delicious food and great service! Unfortunately the air conditioning was out in the entire restaurant so it was HOT when we first sat down, but it was fine throughout dinner once we were settled. Walnut salad and crispy rock shrimp were my favorites! Will definitely be back!
Great food! Very authentic Spanish food.
We had dined at Under the Cork Tree previously, but based on our last experience we will not be returning. While the food was decent, the rest of the experience was awful. Multiple items were missing when our food was brought to our table. When we informed our waiter he did not offer an explanation and never provided an update. The items were not served until everyone had finished their entrees (at which time we requested to-go boxes). In addition to the issues with our order, they sat five of us at a table for four (despite a reservation), the red wine we ordered was so warm that it was almost not drinkable, a glass was not offered when we ordered a beer and the restaurant was so warm that it was more comfortable to be outside. It is easy to overlook one or two service issues but really hard to enjoy a dinner when the service and environment is this poor.
Love the tapas menu! Solid wine list.
The food and service were fantastic but they were experiencing some issue with their Air conditioning, it was way too warm in the restaurant.
I would have appreciated a phone call to warn us about the A/C problem since this dinner was for high-level business execs all wearing suits and jackets.
Great spot! Enjoyed the wine and tapas - especially the lamb ribs. Only complaints was the inside was actually very warm so we moved outside and it was better.
This was an excellent experience; Service was terrific!!
Need to install more fans as it gets warm due to the kitchen.
After reading the reviews, we ventured away from our 'hood to check this place out. It was really good! Some of the best seafood paella we've had in a while. It was well-seasoned with a perfectly crispy sofrito that we literally scraped off the bottom of the pan. The salads and small plates shared before the main event were delicious as well. If the weather allows (which it did on an unseasonably comfortable July evening) sit on the patio and enjoy.
Met a friend there for lunch. Sparsely occupied tables at 12:30 p.m. midweek. Food was fine, though overdone for my tastes. Rather pricey, which may explain why there were plenty of tables.
Our food was fabulous, especially the barrata salad. The entrees (scallop risotto and artichoke tortellini) and dessert (date cake) were great. After being seated, it took a quite while to get a cocktail and wine, but everything else was served in good time. The doors were all open (no air conditioning) and it was very warm. We don't know if it there was a problem with the AC or not, but it wasn't unbearable. In fact, I'm going back for lunch tomorrow.
The AC was broken the day we dined at the location. Our party of 10 was seated in a private room. Yes, that would have been ideal had the AC was fully operational, but it wasn't. Our entire dining experience was SO hot that it really took away from the experience. The food was good, would have been better if it wasn't so hot. Each of us were sweating from the moment we entered the restaurant. Restaurant should have notified me that there was an issue. I would not recommend or go back because this was dishonest. Owner/manager should have notified me. They had all of my contact information. I would have appreciated their in advance honesty and given more of my repeat business.
Ordered the specials, sea bass and tomato and barato salad along with octopus a la plancha and patatas bravas. everything was delicious. lots of greenery with the octopus so don't expect a lot of octopus. enjoyed the pomegrante sangria as well. for the cost it was sufficient. no lunch crowd on a saturday .
We ordered various tapas dishes for dinner. All were OK; nothing stood out. For dessert we shared a Creme Brûlée; it was good.
We love this place and have been there a number of times. Wonderful outdoor seating, great service, extensive wine list and an amazing selection of tapas always make a perfect Friday night for us. If you like Spanish cuisine you cannot go wrong between the large selection of Rioja and Granacha, super-tasty fish tapas and stuffed dates and dates cake for dessert. We will be back soon!! Thank you!
Really fun place for dinner. Good tapas and the service was too notch.
Our server whose name I can’t remember was excellent- he had a walking boot on his left leg. He was attentive and timely with everything. Food was spectacular!
The only thing I wasn’t that impressed about was the dimming if the lights as it made it dark in the restaurant.
Otherwise- we will return.
My friend and I had a nice meal. The waiter was overly attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered a bottle of wine, a hummus dip appetizer and each had a pasta meal that we really enjoyed. The issue is that the restaurant A/C was not working. I was feeling warm inside and was surprised to see a portable A/C in the open kitchen area. Not ideal. We did leave sooner than we wanted to as it was slightly uncomfortable inside.
Server pestered is every 5 minutes to order more. Annoying. No AC. Substandard experience.
Was a bit warm in the restaurant
Air conditioning was broke. Miserable to sit there but food made up for it!
Our dinner was very good in terms of the service and the quality/selection of meals. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because it was extremely warm in the restaurant on a summer day & it felt like the air conditioning was not working.
It was a weeknight and still it was kind of busy.. they have half priced wines on Tuesday’s. So turned out to be awesome! We love the tapas there. Polenta fries are my best..
They have a decent selection on wines too..
Too hot. Fix your ac.
I would like to return top Under the Cork tree after their AC is fixed. It was stifling. The food was good and our server was excellent, but we were miserable in the heat.
Restaurant was really hot
The restaurant was
Too hot in the restaurant. Get the AC figured out!
Food was delicious! Service was slow - didn’t ask for drink orders, drinks came out with food. Air didn’t seem to be working, but they had many fans so it wasn’t bad.
Waiter was more interested in other tables than waiting on us. It took over 20 mins to get a glass of wine. Will not go back.
The seafood paella is the best you’re going to have-Spain included. Portions are generous. Wine selection excellent and reasonably priced. The tapas looked great, but we knew we wouldn’t have room for more than 1/2 salad and paella, and maybe a dessert split 4 ways.
The service was slow and disorganize at times. We ordered a lemonade and took over 1 hour to get it, they claimed because they do fresh lemonade, which is great, but they didn't have the limes squeezed.
Great tapas! The wine was good. My Old Fashioned beverages were just right.
Cheese plate was good but the pasta was edible. A little over priced for what you get.
It was my 40th birthday and the air conditioning was not working. They helped us by buying some fans. But I do think that the restaurant should have called to let us know about the air being out. It was just SOOOO hot.
Sat on the patio, which was nice and quiet. There was a good variety of background music, and it wasn't too loud. The golden beet salad was really good and a large portion. Service was a little slow with getting drink orders, but I think the server was having an off night. Otherwise, I enjoyed my first time and will be back.
Had a lovely dinner here with a group of friends. We ate in the private room which was perfect for our group. The selection of wine is extensive, food was divine and the service was excellent. It was my first time dining here and I will be back soon.
We went for Fathers Day dinner. Food was excellent. Walnut salad and chicken entree were especially good. Our only complaint was the restaurant was too warm, need better air conditioning
