Uncle Peter's Ratings and Reviews
We needed a place to grab a very early dinner before dropping our friend off at LaGuardia Airport and what a find this place was!! The food was exceptional as was the service. The seafood ravioli was lighter than expected for a cream sauce and the whole branzino was so moist and flavorful. I'd come back here any time I was in the area!
Overall, we had a really good experience - the service is great, the prices reasonable, and the selection good. My husband and his friend enjoyed their cocktails. I ordered the linguini with meatballs - and while I know no one compares to mom's cooking - I wasn't happy with the meatballs at all. My husband had chicken parm and enjoyed it. Our friend is a regular who ordered a salad with avocado and tomato that looked great. Fries were well seasoned. Would come back to try something else. The tiramisu was delicious.
We were supposed to celebrate my nephew's marriage. Originally, the party was for 12, then for 20 and then for 23. Because of weather (Reno Nevada), we had to cancel and reduced the party to 10 (the NY guests). Uncle Peter's was very very accommodating and it was much appreciated.
The food was great and so was the service.
Food was good, but nothing special. Service was spectacularly awful. Took 5-10 minutes to get a menu even after asking for one, as 3 servers stood around while the restaurant was empty but for 3 tables (mine included). Clearly a local spot for Italian families in Queens, where it is apparently required that one shout when conversing in a restaurant
Have an outstanding dinner last night at Uncle Peters! The staff could not be more friendly! The food was excellent with a terrific mix of tastes! It was my mother in laws 75th birthday and the staff treated her well on her special day! Thank you - a real gem of a place!
Delicious food and very relaxing environment. Service was excellent. I enjoyed the waiters' humor and knowledge of the menu. We all had steaks and then I returned the following week with my company and had more Italian dishes. Both times the meals were outstanding!!
This is a "hidden gem", a great Italian restaurant in the middle of Jackson Heights. The food is surprisingly good (and reasonably priced), the staff are courteous and just-helpful-enough, and the decor is suitable (not great, but nice enough to feel like it is a good restaurant).
Two of us ate well, with appetizer, meal, desert, and coffee for under $100. That is a bargain in the Big Apple, especially given the quality of the food and the service.
The food was wonderful. I had the mussels and cavatelli with a beef ragu. The sauce with the mussels was decadent and rich. It included a chorizo and plenty of garlic. I had more than my share of bread to sopp up the sauce which left me with taking half my ragu home given the generous portions for both plates. My companion had a traditional veal scallapini with vegetables and started with the meatballs as an appetizer. Nothing was left on his plate.
I'm not usually at this restaurant for lunch, but it was an excellent choice for a quiet meal with a friend since there were few other diners on a Friday at 1:00 PM. The only thing that spoiled the ambiance was the horrible canned birthday music, played much too loudly over the PA system and continuing for far too long. (I have no objection to wait staff singing to a diner celebrating a birthday, but this recorded version was tacky and continued to play even after the wait staff had left the birthday table to go about their regular duties.)
Food was excellent....portion sizes are generous, the lamb was cooked to perfection and the Pollo a La Francesa was tasty. There was a slightly long wait between appetizer and entree but this is such a great place to relax and catch-up so we really didn't care much. The staff are extremely professional and nice. Even if this place is out of your way, it is worth trying.
