Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine - Hell's Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Food is excellent, fresh hot and really tasty. If you want fancy, white tablecloths and napkins this is not your place. This is a really good meal at great prices and very large portions. The yogurt with walnuts and honey is a great finisher with ouzo. We come here on our every visit to NYC...every 2-3 months. The restaurant is clean, rest rooms are clean. Service is great. Drink and wine prices are very reasonable. Uncle Nick’s will never disappoint.
The food here was very good and moderately priced. Although not a fancy spot, it was quaint and cozy. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. We shared the mixed platter for the appetizer, it had a few peppers, fried zucchini, hummus and more. For my entrée I had the Moussaka which was very good, it came with a side of rice, but I asked for the lemon potatoes instead and was accommodated. My friend had the lamb souvlaki and the meat was moist and tender. The portions were large and we had some leftovers, so no dessert this time. Would definitely go back. They also had some lunch specials.
My wife and I were in NYC for 4 days - came to see the Springsteen on Broadway concert - and had four very different dining experiences during our stay. All were great in their own way, but my favorite was Uncle Nick's. Being 100% Greek, I am very particular about what is advertised as Greek food. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. The service was very friendly and attentive (yes, it was a Tuesday night and relatively quiet), the food was excellent - and a fantastic value - no skimping on the portions and high quality. I would highly recommend Uncle Nick's for authentic Greek food at great value. We will definitely come back next time we are in NYC!
Had dinner at Nick's on a saturday night with friends. We had just gotten back from a trip to Greece and wanted some greek food for nostalgia. The dips and pita were great for appetizer. I had the swordfish skewer for around $24, and it was very tasty. They had other traditional Greek items, . My friend had a good Pastitsio, and an ouzo. The food was great. The place is large, and was about 60% occupied during a 9:30 dinner. I would recommend it for sure, especially if you want to eat well and not spend that much money.
I was expecting great Greek food served Iwith Greek integrity. They were chintzy with the olives I asked for a few more for our salad for 4 and I was told I needed to buy a serving. They didn't use olive oil on the salad and it didn't have enough vinegar. There was no hospitable complimentary sweet either. A long way from the Greek taverna I know.
We actually thought we were going to another restaurant. Never mind. The food was authentic Greek like my Mom would make. Quantities overly generous, especially the booze part. (3 oz. of ouzo in a glass). All the food was good. Waiter forgot about us at the beginning but made up for it. Crowd around us was colorful if noisy. Good place and enjoyed it.
Consistently good since the 80s. Best fresh grilled fish in town. Homey not stylish, can get a little loud if crowded. But the food makes it all worthwhile. And the grilled lamb chops are delicious, too. Uncle Nick's is about the last of the original Hell's Kitchen restaurants. It deserves local support!!
