Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine - Hell's Kitchen
Dinner was delicious. The grilled trout was done to perfection. Pita and tzatziki appetizer was wonderful. Carafe of wine was very affordable.
Have been going to nicks for close to 20 years and it only gets better . Dinner this weekend was probably the best ever - split huge mixed appetizer platter and grilled shrimp followed by dessert and coffee. It too far to be pre-theater and defiantly with the short walk .
Dine at Uncle Nick’s at least once a trip to NYC.
Always awesome food, service and price!
Great service ! Authentic cuisine and nice portions .
Enjoyed the food very much and the wait staff were very attentive. The tables, though are too close to each other and had the restaurant been busier I am sure I would have been uncomfortable.
Authentic Greek food in the heart of NYC. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious.
Solid Greek food in Hell’s Kitchen. Whole branzino and halibut steak was very fresh and simply prepared grilled with lemon and olive oil. Nice grilled octopus as well.
Have recommended Nick's several times. Friendly, cost effective and food is well priced and delicious.
We dined quite early (4:30 reservation), so the noise level was excellent. Very personable wait staff, and the food was fresh and delicious. Perfectly cooked fish, excellent tsatziki. Just right for neighborhood dining ( especially considering that the neighborhood is Hell’s Kitchen!).
We have dined at Uncle Nick's many times over the years. It is great, authentic Greek cuisine that never fails to be done just right. From appetizers to desserts, you cant go wrong with any of the menu choices.
Good restaurant outside of the Time Square area. Traditional Greek food with great appetizers.
Went for dinner the other night. My friend had the salmon, which she has ordered before and liked that. I got the lamb shank (they didn't have the lamb burger, which was one of the advertised specials), which arrived so tough that I had to wrestle with it and a knife. I finally gave up and asked the waitress to see what the chef could do. She said all the lamb shanks were cooked the same way. That was disappointing and given what they were charging, it should have been prepared as you expect a lamb shank to be: the meat falling off the bone. I said I would just eat it but the waitress felt strongly that I should be happy with what I was eating. I ordered the lamb kebob instead. That was grilled on the spot and came out much better.
We used to go to Uncle Nicks regularly when we lived in the city so it was fun being back! The four dips were delicious as was the pita bread. The mussels were over cooked, not cleaned well.
Recommended to us by a local resident, Uncle Nick's was a great experience. The portions were generous and the food was very tasty. We had grilled swordfish and a lamb kabob and were very happy with both dishes. Our waiter was very helpful during the evening. We finished with the rice pudding and it was outstanding! We can't wait to to return!
They have a wide selection of delicious fish and cooked simple but delicious. The baklava is really good too.
Always wonderful departure from the usual fare. Don't look at as only a Greek restaurant; look at it as one of the best fresh seafood restaurants in midtown! Service is also outstanding.
The whole fish cannot be beat! I had the flounder and my friend had the red snapper. Both were absolutely scrumptious. The vegetables were very good and made differently from my last visit; much improved and delicious.
I have eaten there 2X. The first time my moussaka was fabulous. The second time, this past Fri eve., the eggplant was hard and not cooked well. It ruined the dish. 50% doesn't make this a place to look forward to.
It is hard to find a place in NYC where you can hear yourself think let alone have a conversation. This place had good food at a reasonable price and is not obnoxiously loud. I would recommend it for those reasons.
Really good food at reasonable prices.
This is my 3rd visit to Uncle Nick's and it was the best out of the three. It had been quite some time and it just keeps getting better. Our party had 4 people in it so we shared a bottle of wine along with appetizers then had our own main courses. The tzatziki was some of the best I've ever had!! I'm not a fan of potatoes but everyone else liked the scordalia. The saganaki was served as it should be...flaming hot. It was delicious as was the grilled octopus. Our entrees consisted of the mousaka, gyro platter and beef kabob. We ate everything!! Our waiter was very nice as was the owner.
I look forward to going back and next time with my Greek boyfriend.
As we were going into Manhattan to see the decorations and were meeting another couple, we planned to go to dinner. My significant other had eaten here numerous times and recommended it. We made a reservation for 7:15 p.m. on 12/8.
We arrived early and were told there were no tables available, which we understood. While we were waiting, another group came in who did not have reservations. They were told it was about a 30 minute wait.
I was not comfortable with leaving because I had a feeling that the maitre'd would give the next open table to whomever walked in. A table opened up and I and the wife of the other couple stepped back into the restaurant from the vestibule (because we both had the same feeling about the matrie'd) to get the table. The maitre'd proceeded to ignore us and seated the group who had no reservation. We complained and expressed our displeasure and were given a million excuses but no apology and were repeatedly told we had a 7:15 reservation (I guess he was going to make us wait to 7:15). When we told our significant others what had happened mine proceeded to give the matrie'd a piece of his mind. A gentleman (we presume an owner) then came to the vestibule to ask what had happened and next thing we knew we were escorted to a semi-private back area of the restaurant.
Our waitress was wonderful and down to earth and proceeded to completely make up for the rudeness of the maitre'd. The food was amazing (I had was the most tender swordfish I have ever had). All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely recommend Uncle Nick's (just make sure to arrive exactly on time for your reservation!)
Uncle Nick's never disappoints. Food is always good and plentiful. Service is fast and courteous. Took my family there for dinner after a Saturday matinee and everyone loved it. As a heads up, Uncle Nick's automatically adds tip to groups of 6 or more. I didn't pay attention to my charge and as a result double tipped. But Uncle Nick's management was very understanding and helpful in correcting my error after the fact. Looking forward to my next visit to Uncle Nick's sometime soon.
Very very fast service! Casual environment, nothing fancy but very good food and attentive staff.
Saganaki good. Meatballs crusty and not flavorful. Waited so long for a steak, I was sure they had forgotten to give the order to the kitchen and was prepared to forego it. It did come, once my companions had finished their food, and too bad for me: it was dry, I had a lot of trouble cutting it, and it had no taste. $29 for something I could not eat. Explained to the waitress and she said she was sorry. I was charged fully for it.
Was my go to years ago
Did not keep.up with the times
We absolutely loved everything about the place. The food was authentic, delicious and yummy. The service was warm and friendly as was the ambience of the place. We will definitely eat here again and recommend it to our friends and family
First time here and went because of the great ratings. At first as I approached Uncle Nick’s, I was worried as the people I was with are quite discerning diners. When they sat at up front close to the kitchen with all the noise and the banging dishes I was sure this was going to be a disappointment. But boy was I wrong! The service was amazing (didn’t get our waitress’ name but she was a beautiful larger woman, with such an engaging manner. She was phenomenal. All the food was made to order and I had Greek salad and saganaki and their freshly prepared tzaziki (sp?) was the best I’ve had at any Greek dining establishment it was also a short walk to seeing our broadway show Mean Girls! All in all a fabulous culinary experience!
This restaurant in Hell's Kitchen has great Greek food. It is a no nonsense place with great fish especially! The mussels are alway delicious too! We always enjoy the dips with Pita bread! Highly recommended!
Had a great time here! Food was delicious! I would highly recommend this place if you go to the hell’s kitchen neighborhood.
Good value and good food!
A local favorite. Family owned and run for decades. Best fresh grilled fish and Greek food in Hells Kitchen. Great for a group
Excellent food and service. One of our favorite restaurants.
Great food and service. Reservation was right on time and we had plenty of time to catch our 7:30 show.
The food at Uncle Nicks is always delicious, prepared authentically and with care!
Loved it -- great, personable wait staff; authentic greek food. Feels healthy! (At least the salad and fish I got).
Will def go back!
Uncle Nick’s Greek Restaurant was absolutely outstanding. Everything from the food, the service, the atmosphere. The prices were excellent. The portions were the right size. The authenticity of the dishes were perfect. On a scale of 1 to 10, this restaurant rates a 20, definitely. I could eat there a couple times a week.
We’ve been a couple times in the past month and used to go a lot many years ago. The food is a good value, and the atmosphere is fine but you’ll be happier if you go in with moderate expectations. Our waiter on our most recent evening - wish I remembered his name - was extraordinarily thoughtful and helpful in getting us in and out quickly for theater despite our arriving late.
My family and I visited Uncle Nick’s many years ago and remembered it favorably so we decided to come back for a pre show dinner. My husband sword fish kabobs tasted off and we sent it back. The appetizers and other dishes (fish and chips, vegetable mousaka, and baked feta and tomatoes) were all mediocre at best. We were offered desert on the house to make up for the fish, and got the baklava. It was a huge portion but just overly sweet and disappointing. We’re definitely not coming back.
