If you love Greek food, you'll love Uncle Nick's. Not overly fancy or expensive for NYC standards. Service was quick to deliver our order. Also, you know when you see NYC's finest enjoying local eats at the next table, you've got to be in a decent establishment. Very close to MSG as well as UCB Comedy Theater. Would love to go back regardless of so many other choices available.
I really don’t know what happened to that place, it was fantastic when it first opened, amazing food at first, it slowly declined and the food looks like plates you will get at any NYC diner…diner food looks and tastes better. The service is OK nothing to write home about and the for the quality of food the place is expensive…want to have a spanakopita or octopus then go, if you want to have great Greek food…don’t
Very happy with our meal at Uncle Nick's. The chicken soup was delicious. The lamb kabob was perfectly cooked and the portion was large. The tzatziki sauce was one of the best we've tasted. Nice location - very close to MSG which is why we picked it for our dinner before the show. Not to mention the good reviews.
Another great meal at Uncle Nick's! Always delicious, fresh seafood and Greek specialties. The staff is tremendously helpful and friendly, and even remembers our choice of wine (which perhaps says more about us than them!). We never miss a chance to eat here whenever we're in Midtown Manhattan!
Uncle Nick's looked in disrepair, very dirty and bright lights, lots of noise, no ambience. Plates breaking and lots of running around. The food was not really fresh. We ordered wine and frappe that we never received. He finally brought after I prodded him. I always allow for busy Saturday nights to be hectic but the service, food and the ambience was like being in a cafeteria. Good if you want to eat quickly and get out!
The food was delicious and well-prepared. We really enjoyed the eggplant salad and the grilled octopus appetizers. The sword fish and shrimp main dishes were delicious. The problem we had was that they brought our entrees while we were still eating our salads. Decided not to send it back because everything would then have been overcooked. The kitchen should have been more aware of the needs of the customers.
Authentic Greek cuisine, fantastic menu, great location and friendly service. I ordered (or tried my friend's) Avgolemono Soup, Moussaka, Spanakopita, Saga-naki Tiri, Oktapodaki and Pasitsio. All dishes were delicious. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the Oktapodaki (Grilled Octopus marinated in balsamic vinegar, herbs and olive oil - YUM!). I will definitely go here again and again!
Picked Uncle Nick's after looking at reviews for restaurant near MSG. Glad we did. Reservation at 4 before the crowds, nice and quiet. Quaint Greek atmosphere. Waiters very attentive. 3 of us ordered Chicken Kabobs over Rice pilaf- Delicious, perfect amount. 1 had Gyro platter- loved it. Baklava yummy ( and we make our own homemade !) Gradually other Ranger fans trickled in before game. Great location away from crowds. Will defintitely go again.
We stopped here before a hockey game at MSG and were so happily surprised by the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff. Legit Greek food served quickly and with love. We have made a note of this restaurant because we will definitely be back.
If we lived closer, we would also take advantage of their delivery service.
