Great food, staff, & price. Cozy, feels like you’re at home or grandmas. Home cooking and very attentive fast service. Everyone at Uncle Lui’s approached our table to make sure we were all good and happy. Excellent gem of a restaurant.

We meet friends at Uncle Lui’s once a year when we are in Florida. It’s a great casual Hungarian restaurant with many authentic Hungarian recipes. The minute you sit down they bring hot crispy potato pancakes o the table. Portions are enormous and they expect you to take home food. Certainly nothing fancy. Tables and chairs are somebody’s old kitchen sets, but it’s a fun place and food is good.

The food is good. Very very large portions. We've been attending for many years and they don't seem to recognize us. Very strange

Hungarian/Central European cuisine, family run, good quality and generous portion at affordable prices. The Wiener Schnitzel is one of the best I ever had and the side dishes (creamy spinach, red cabbage) are excellent. The main course comes with soup or salad included in the entree price as are the dessert and coffee. The house wine is a passable table wine. The ambiance is casual, reminding me of the small bistros in eastern Europe.

This was our first time eating at this establishment! As soon as you entered this restaurant it was a feeling of sincere welcome!! The owner and the staff are so friendly and extremely helpful!!

The food was excellent the portions are huge you cannot finish it at one seating! We had to take dessert home with us.

Thank you, for a perfect first time visit. We will be back.

Do not miss going to this restaurant!! It will be your loss!!!!

Wonderful food! And plenty of it! The soups were perfect, the lobster bisque was not too heavy and deliciously seasoned, and the corn Chowder was spectacular! All food is made to order and served HOT, which is great! Reasonably priced wine and apple strudel was to die for! Don't miss this great value!

If you are looking for good wholesome cooking this is the place. It is central European cuisine like stuffed cabbage rolls, Wiener Schnitzel, roasted crispy duck, creamy spinach, red cabbage, potato pancakes (latkes), apple strudel.
The service is friendly the house is a decent table wine. The portions are enormous, prices are low. In the price of the main course, soup or salad and a dessert are included and so is coffee or tea. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and the left over was enough for two lunches.

Fantastic. If you like food, you must eat here.

Also if you like service, you must come here.

And if you like fair prices, then FOR SURE you must eat here.

Specialty is Wiener Schnitzel, and the portion is for TWO people for only $21, including appetizer and dessert!!!

Oh, it was very good.

I really hate writing this review because I feel for the owners, and it could very well be a matter of personal flavor. We always look for local places we can try and support, and found a groupon for this place. I remember eating Goulash as a kid and my husband loves my Schnitzels so we thought it would be fun. I did a lot of research before and was overwhelmed by the good reviews on both Groupon and Open table. So you can imagine my surprise. The place stood in time, from back in the 70's, but was clean. You do get a lot of food for your $ but I the food was just not tasty and was poorly presented. I felt like a child who went to her Grandma and forced to eat food you hate... We really wanted to love it. The Veal Goulash was HUGE but just tasteless and the Spetzle was dry and have no flavor. I added so much salt and the gravies and really nothing was going to save this dish. The Schnitzel was just as tasteless. I am very sad to write this review and hope others will have a better experience.

One of our favorite places to eat and one that never has disappointed us. Service is always excellent and everyone is friendly and helpful. I love the hunter schnitzel but tried the wiener schnitzel this time.. delicious. Warning, go hungry; the portions are Trump-sized (HUGE) so expect to take home plenty. There are appetizers on the menu but if you are ordering entrees you don't really need them. You get large potato latkes, soup or salad, and coffee and dessert as part of your meal. the only negative is that finding the place is a bit tricky. It is located in a shopping mall on Oakland Park Blvd but because the shops are perpendicular to the main road rather than parallel, as most are, it is easy to pass by the first time.

2nd time there and we brought 8 friends (4 couples ). We loved the food and service. Our friends couldn't stop raving including the next day.
Service is incredible. How do you get 10 meals out the same time AND all hot.
We will be back again...

Being of Hungarian heritage, I was excited to have some of "mom's" cooking again. I recently visited for my 4th time, each time bringing someone new with me. Portions are huge and delicious. Take Home boxes are encouraged. I can't wait to introduce this restaurant to my new friends!

Uncle Lui's is a rare find in South Florida. Homey comfort food served with huge portions. I loved the European atmosphere and menu. It's located in an out of the way plaza, but well worth finding. It's no surprise that on a weeknight they are busy!
