Uncle Lui's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time eating at this establishment! As soon as you entered this restaurant it was a feeling of sincere welcome!! The owner and the staff are so friendly and extremely helpful!!
The food was excellent the portions are huge you cannot finish it at one seating! We had to take dessert home with us.
Thank you, for a perfect first time visit. We will be back.
Do not miss going to this restaurant!! It will be your loss!!!!
Wonderful food! And plenty of it! The soups were perfect, the lobster bisque was not too heavy and deliciously seasoned, and the corn Chowder was spectacular! All food is made to order and served HOT, which is great! Reasonably priced wine and apple strudel was to die for! Don't miss this great value!
If you are looking for good wholesome cooking this is the place. It is central European cuisine like stuffed cabbage rolls, Wiener Schnitzel, roasted crispy duck, creamy spinach, red cabbage, potato pancakes (latkes), apple strudel.
The service is friendly the house is a decent table wine. The portions are enormous, prices are low. In the price of the main course, soup or salad and a dessert are included and so is coffee or tea. I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and the left over was enough for two lunches.
Fantastic. If you like food, you must eat here.
Also if you like service, you must come here.
And if you like fair prices, then FOR SURE you must eat here.
Specialty is Wiener Schnitzel, and the portion is for TWO people for only $21, including appetizer and dessert!!!
Oh, it was very good.
I really hate writing this review because I feel for the owners, and it could very well be a matter of personal flavor. We always look for local places we can try and support, and found a groupon for this place. I remember eating Goulash as a kid and my husband loves my Schnitzels so we thought it would be fun. I did a lot of research before and was overwhelmed by the good reviews on both Groupon and Open table. So you can imagine my surprise. The place stood in time, from back in the 70's, but was clean. You do get a lot of food for your $$ but I the food was just not tasty and was poorly presented. I felt like a child who went to her Grandma and forced to eat food you hate... We really wanted to love it. The Veal Goulash was HUGE but just tasteless and the Spetzle was dry and have no flavor. I added so much salt and the gravies and really nothing was going to save this dish. The Schnitzel was just as tasteless. I am very sad to write this review and hope others will have a better experience.
One of our favorite places to eat and one that never has disappointed us. Service is always excellent and everyone is friendly and helpful. I love the hunter schnitzel but tried the wiener schnitzel this time.. delicious. Warning, go hungry; the portions are Trump-sized (HUGE) so expect to take home plenty. There are appetizers on the menu but if you are ordering entrees you don't really need them. You get large potato latkes, soup or salad, and coffee and dessert as part of your meal. the only negative is that finding the place is a bit tricky. It is located in a shopping mall on Oakland Park Blvd but because the shops are perpendicular to the main road rather than parallel, as most are, it is easy to pass by the first time.
The Service is excellent. The owners come to the table and are very courteous and considerate. The menu has many Hungarian options as well as blackboard specials. You will never leave hungry. The amount of food is huge and delicious. We have been to Uncle Lui's several times and always enjoy the food and service.
Being of Hungarian heritage, I was excited to have some of "mom's" cooking again. I recently visited for my 4th time, each time bringing someone new with me. Portions are huge and delicious. Take Home boxes are encouraged. I can't wait to introduce this restaurant to my new friends!
Been trying to get a reservation for this place for weeks, finally struck it rich and it was worth the wait. Just wish they didn't have those oil cloth table coverings.
The food was amazing starting with the corn chowder soup. There were so many delectable sounding entrees we had trouble choosing and will be back to try them all. The side dishes were to die for and for desert we had the apple strudel that was the best this side of Hungary.
Appetizer ( potato pancake & corn chowder) and desserts were exceptional thereby posing a challenge to the entrée. I had the Hunter's Schnitzel and it was good but too much. Difficult to use utensils as food hung over the edge of the plate. Between meat and one side dish did not see need for red cabbage and creamed spinach.
