Mexican
Uncle Julio’s is a Mexican from scratch kitchen serving only the freshest ingredients. Specialties include: chicken & steak fajitas, and bacon wrapped shrimp. Other favorites include: honey chipotle chicken & bacon fajitas, costillas, and carne asada.

Uncle Julio’s menu also includes Tex-Mex classics such as tacos, enchiladas & tamales all with a selection of sauces made daily. Insider tip: order the tableside guacamole. It’s prepared for you at your table; if you like it spicy kick it up a notch with fresh chopped jalapenos.

Uncle Julio’s has a vast drink selection. Try our fresh margarita of the day, made to order with fresh fruit. If you prefer a frozen drink then the Swirl is definitely the perfect choice. The Swirl is frozen sangria & frozen margarita layered together dating back to 1987.

For reservations, please allow up to 15 minutes for us to prepare your table.

The waitress was ok, but all that she suggested was not what it what we received when ordered. I asked for sweet tea and received unsweetened tea. And she got a slight attitude. I don’t think for the price we paid for our entree was a equal to the amount of food we received. Our appetizer was done wrong instead of the manager coming out to address the issue the waitress was sent out to bring the right appetizer out but we would have to pay for it because we had only mix it up with the chip to see what was in it to make sure it was right. But it wasn’t. We wasn’t even offered a discount or anything for our troubles. Not to mention the food was kind of burnt when it came out. Even after we got our food we waited 5 minutes to get silverware.

This was my first visit. When I walked in the noise was deafening. It was crowded which is a good sign but i guess the kitchen was t prepared because it took our food a long time to arrive.
We ordered the lunch combo of chicken tortilla soup and tacos. I had the chicken tacos and my lunch partner had steak. She had to return them because they were very chewy.
Bottom line this is not a bad restaurant but probably won’t be returning.

Some of the best Mexican food I have had in a very long time. The chocolate pinata was the reason we came to Atlanta and we will be doing this again in the future! Only complaint of the experience was the service seemed relatively slow and our second round of margaritas seemed to be missing the tequila entirely.

Too bright and too cold to get cozy and enjoy a meal. Service was great, but the margarita was syrupy sweet - disappointing for a Mexican restaurant. The food was bland, nothing stood out in a good way. Too bland where it should be flavorful, too salty when it shouldn't be, and the enchiladas were served lukewarm - which makes me think they're probably pre-made and frozen.

I will not eat here again and would not recommend it.

Unfortunately, our experience at Uncle Julio's was not positive. We ordered cocktails at 7:40 and at 8:15 we had to flag down our server to make sure he did not forget about us. He followed up by letting us know the bar ran out of glasses and they were waiting on clean ones. Our drinks finally arrived about 8:30 with a not so frozen daiquiri. We drank it because we were afraid of waiting aonother 45 minutes for a drink. We finally ordered dinner since we had the server's attention. He had not asked us if we were even ready to order yet. Without sounding too negeative, our service was at the most fair. I could share more, but I think I will just leave it at the fact we will probably not be dining here again.

Service here is usually pretty slow, and it was a little worse than normal. No water refills happened. Took awhile to get our orders taken.

The hostess was rude and awful. I would walk out if I saw her there again. She had us walking all over for the table (and I witnessed her doing it to other guests later) because she didn’t ask us to just stay in the lobby while she checked on the table, which would make a lot more sense than walking guests back and forth. She was condescending to me as I let her know about my reservation and was condescending as she left us at our table.

Food was fine. My drink was fine (although the glass was left sticky from the bartender, meaning they didn’t really wipe it when passing it on to the server - minor detail). I would return if other similar places were busy and if the hostess was not present. But this last experience was really disappointing.

I took a guest especially to this location to enjoy the stuffed shrimp with the fajita platter. After we placed our order, Our server advise that this was not ready for lunch and that it was never served for lunch. Despite this item is on the menu, and I have enjoyed it at the Peachtree Road location this location does not seem to be willing to accommodate it’s lunchtime guess.

I will not visit this location again

It took 30 minutes to get a drink, while other tables, that came after us, got theirs. The food was great. The floor looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. This made me scared that the kitchen was dirty.

My wife let people know as we left. I doubt they let management know. The service there has gone down hill. It was one of my favorite places. I will not go back to this one, again.

We were on a tight schedule, six of us needed to meet for supper. Made reservations at Uncle Julio's via Open Table for 6:30 PM. Even in the pouring rainstorm, all arrived by 6:15 PM. We were not seated until after 7 PM and only then after repeated reminders to the host. Server greeted us then said he'd be back with water while we looked at the menu. I told him to stay and take our orders now because we were pressed for time. He ignored me and said he'd be right back with water. We eventually placed our orders. I put everything on one check to make it easier for them. It took over 30 minutes to get the food. We ate fast but had to leave most of the meal behind. It's a shame because the food was very good. Don't eat here unless you have tons of time or are by yourself and sit at the bar.

Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time, though there weren’t many other people eating during the time we were in the restaurant. Everything seem to take a long time, but it is unclear why that would be the case since the restaurant was not terribly busy. When our food did arrive, it was clear that it had been sitting in the kitchen for a bit before it got to our table. My husband’s fajitas were NOT “sizzling”, and the cheese in and on my enchilada had cooled substantially. The waitress also dropped several plates while clearing our table, the mess was pretty much left until we finished our meal. We have eaten here other times, and had a much better experience. However this particular visit left quite a bit to be desired.

The guacamole appetizer didn't came until dinner came and the quality was poor. I mentioned it to our server and he didn't apologized for being late didn't do anything about it by replacing it. The chicken was undercooked in my opinion with little flavor. We used to go there on regular basic but this last visit turned me off.

This restaurant offers excellent service and good food. It is quieter than other Mexican restaurants in the Perimeter area. However, we found the food a bit salty and the thought the interior decor was very outdated and not in keeping with the restaurant's price point and service level. Other Mexican restaurants in the area offer a better value.

Extremely disappointing experience. First, they absolutely did not honor the reservation. We were 6 people and made sure to reserve several hours in advance. OpenTable showed available tables at every 15 minute increment. Arrived at the restaurant 5-10 minutes before scheduled time, told them we had a reservation, and they said, "Sorry, we're very busy. It'll be 20 minutes." Never asked for our name or even looked at the list of reservations. Every other party that arrived, whether 2 or 10 people was told the same "20 minutes."

When we were finally seated - 35 minutes after our reservation - we thought things might get better. Waitress was pleasant, apologized for the wait and took our drink orders right away. Then it went downhill again. Drinks were slow to come. Salsa was placed on the table, but then chips failed to show up for at least another 15 minutes. Salsa was very salty, but not spicy. Food was mostly bland, and several in our party indicated that it was not hot. After taking order, we basically never saw our server again as others brought out the plates, so there was no one to check if everything was OK or to ask for refills or anything else. I can forgive our server as she was working far too many tables, but no one checked on us. The manager seemed to be too busy making tableside guacamole instead of overseeing the waitstaff and checking up on everyone.

Again, *extremely* disappointing. Not our first time at this restaurant, or even this location, but something was very much off - enough so that we are unlikely to come back.

Funny enough, writing a review this Sunday, for a visit to Uncle Julio's 2 weeks before, caused a major hankering for a re-visit that day...right before taking a 10-hr drive out of town!!! I'm SO glad I visited again too!

The start was bumpy, but everything after was awesome! My hostess did fail to initially honor my booth seating request, but acknowledged the medical need behind that request so I'm not sure what she was thinking. However, she returned me to the front, went back and ensured the open booth was clean then returned to seat me. No apologies received for her error. My seating request wasn't for convenience. There was a medical need.

My server's hospitality quickly dissolved that bumpy start with excellent, attentive service start to finish. Drinks were always filled, quick food delivery despite how busy they were, sensitive to my every need and on-point food suggestions too!

To start, the chips were a little oily, but freshly & crispy. The fresh salsa was so good and if you like that burning tickle down your throat, get the Habanera salsa. It was awesome! I got the Fajita Skirt Steak again. My server noticed there was very little lettuce under the mound of cheese. He also knew the tortillas available to serve weren't fresh off the press so requested my patience as he returns with more lettuce and super fresh tortillas. He wanted to at least get the food out while piping hot. So attentive & considerate!

Now for the most shocking & amazing part of my visit...THE BLACK BEANS!!!! I've had black beans at home and elsewhere. These black beans they make.....will take you to heaven!!!! I'm not a beans fanatic of ANY sort, but these black beans...oh. my. Goodness! I could eat these alone 3x a day! They are THAT amazing. I cant believe I'm even raving about black beans too, but holy moly batman! If you enjoy black beans & rice on a rare occasion...this is a MUST TRY!

My experience on the overall was most enjoyable and I thank my server, Aaron for that!

GREAT food but service was really slow. Our server seemed to be super slammed where as others stood around an no help was provided. We were a table of 6 and not in a rush, so wasn't an issue, but seemed silly no one could take time after repeated requests to get us water, silver or napkins.

One of our favorite places but today was a big disappointment. The manager made the guacamole(at the table) with too much salt. When we brought it to his attention they just brought out a premade one without telling us and of course that’s less expensive (Felt like they were just making the issue go away).. Also, I think they were short staffed. The waitress was nice and the food was fine but the guacamole is one of the things we go there for and the meal started off bad. Service score is more based on the beginning of the meal.

When you have a group, we had six, the bill is nice and expensive. Felt like the overall mood was ruined ... so the money wasn’t spent well.

I took the family there for pre thanksgiving mex. the restaurant did not know of our reservation through open table nor did they get our seating request. But they weren't very busy and we were seated in the middle of the room. Their theme music way too loud but the food good and the service was very good.
