Uncle Julio's - Lombard/ Oakbrook
Uncle Julio’s menu also includes Tex-Mex classics such as tacos, enchiladas & tamales all with a selection of sauces made daily. Insider tip: order the tableside guacamole. It’s prepared for you at your table; if you like it spicy kick it up a notch with fresh chopped jalapenos.
Uncle Julio’s has a vast drink selection. Try our fresh margarita of the day, made to order with fresh fruit. If you prefer a frozen drink then the Swirl is definitely the perfect choice. The Swirl is frozen sangria & frozen margarita layered together dating back to 1987.
For reservations, please allow up to 15 minutes for us to prepare your table.
We ordered Fajitas and we’ve always had our Fajitas come out sizzling at any other restaurant we noticed upon leaving, the table next to us had sizzling Fajitas, our food was Luke warm and our rice and beans were dried out, we also didn’t appreciate our guacamole being served on a bed of lettuce, needless to say, we will not visit this restaurant again, Nothing authentic about this restaurant
Good food. Messy presentation with the exception of the piñata. Excellent drink options. Overall - 3.5/5
Prices were a little high, but the food was excellent. Noise level very very high. Couldn’t hold a conversation.
Asked for no tomatoes due to ALLERGY. My plate was full of tomatoes.
Asked for tortillas, never got them.
Very busy, but keep in mind it was VDay, the food was good, but not hot just warm..service good! Overall good food & good service , despite being so crowded
The food was good. The prices are high for the amount of food given. Our server Elizabeth was outstanding.
Always delicious food. The Crispy Taco Plate is exceptional. Last night, the noise level was deafening to the point where I could not hear my daughter-in-law across a small table. There was a large group in the next room, but on top of the people noise, there was an irritatingly consistent thumping of bass from the otherwise inaudible music playing overhead. The music should have been turned off. Again, the food was fantastic. The server was great.
Waiter was great. He was very helpful. Food was amazing
Food was amazing and service was outstanding
It was Anniversary dinner and birth celebration of friends baby. Wait was over a 1/2 hr and when seated we were cramped in corner. The place was crowded but being that we had a baby they should have placed us in a less cramped area/table, probably the tables in aisle by the serving / tortilla maker side. I felt like a sardine in a corner. Food took long. We weren’t even offered water and I asked for it and they still forgot to bring it. They also ran out of the piñata deserts. They were pushing the alcoholic beverages. The hostesses seating everyone weren’t very concerned we had to wait long. Finally no one acknowledged the celebration!
We waited for 1:15min after a reservation time. On average they were 45-50min late on reservations.
Manager didn’t care one bit.
Service was terrible but food was very good
Food was great. It was busy so we were packed in like sardines. Waitress was slow, busy, and flustered. Manager was NOT helping nor checking on tables. Took home our leftovers in the containers and were not even offered a bag. This restaurant WAS ALWAYS better than this. WHAT HAPPENED?
Great as usual.
Me and my family went on Feb 3rd for my daughters 20th birthday and we had a great time. The chips and salsa was delicious the food and appetizers were great. Our server miguel was very attentive to our needs and made sure our drinks were always replenished. The chocolate pinata topped off the dinner. Thank you uncle Julio's for a great experience. We'll definitely be back
Took my son and his girlfriend to U.J, it was their first time. Server seemed distracted and overwhelmed he came back to our table
A couple times and it took about 25 minutes to get our piñata after we ordered.
Table had no lighting. Overhead bulb was burned out. Server was very slow. Didn’t bring tortillas when fajitas arrived. Table wasn’t cleaned off after meal.
We went for a birthday dinner. The food was great. The service was ok (never took one of our drink orders, forgot to bring tortillas), but otherwise everything went well. We will definitely go back.
Service very slow.
Fish tacos inedible.
They forgot to cook one of our meals -one person had to wait for 10 minutes their meal. Disappointed.
Food was great! Service was great! We had a fantastic time and we will be back!
We love Uncle Julios in general and tried this location for dinner meeting with 2 others out of state co-workers. Although the sign and the online information stated the place closed at 10pm, we were asked at 9pm if we were done since they were closing due to slow traffic in the restaurant. While we understand that staff was trying to wrap up and head home, we felt kicked out.
Birthday dinner with my Hubby and 8 year old daughter. It was fantastic and we enjoyed our server and table-side guacamole “maker” guy! Our server was especially spectacular. We asked her if she previously worked for a high end restaurant - she was terrific and WELL TRAINED. Thank you for this terrific experience. UJ has been a favorite of ours for years! We used to frequent the North Ave location before moving to the burbs. The Oakbrook location has been our new favorite. Thank you.
Great waiter and staff!
Being from Texas, Uncle Julio's is our favorite go to for tex mex!
It was good food but was loud.
Long wait for food. The food was not very good which is very unusual for this restaurant.
Drinks were sub par and we were disappointed with them so we skipped ordering any more. Other uncle julios locations make the drinks much better. Service was slow but friendly. Food good as usual.
Food was good, restaurant was noisy, value for money just wasn’t there. Unlikely to return.
The food was mediocre Mexican. We found it rather expensive as opposed to other Mexican restaurants in our area. We did really enjoy the chocolate piñata as it was our granddaughters birthday and she chose this restaurant because of the piñata. The piñata presentation was great, but the rest of the food was just okay.
UJ’s menu is solid. The food better than average Mexican fare. The service in this location is just awful. It starts with the hostess and continues throughout the experience. The Uncle Julio’s in Naperville is awesome compared to this place. If you think you’d like to try UJ, do yourself a favor and choose Naperville over Lombard - night and day comparison.
My friend and I went to Uncle Julio’s at this location to have dinner and we literally sat and waited 20 minutes just to be approached and asked if we wanted some water. We only got approached by our server maybe 3 times and basically were rushing us to get out even though they weren’t even near closing. Dissapointing. Won’t come to this location again.
It’s was awesome
The food is fantastic. The table side guacamole is to die for. So is the chocolate lovers piñata. Overall a great place for special occasions or just date night.
I visit Uncle Julio's about 8-10 times a year, I have never been disappointed, the food and service is outstanding.
We had a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The table side guacamole, fajitas, and chocolate piñata were all absolutely terrific!! Our visit was perfect from start to finish. Can’t wait to return!
For it being NYE, things were a bit delayed, but overall food and service were good!
Great time...took a while to get our round of drinks but otherwise it was great!
I had a reservation for 3 people and we were seated almost immediately.
The food was good, as always at Uncle Julio's. The Guacamole is always amazing, so creamy.
Top shelf Margarita's will not disappoint.
Our server was much less than attentive. We asked several times for napkins, utensils, another round of drinks.
I guess my friends and I were just too old for his attention! My sister was willing to leave a much bigger tip than I would allow her.
TIPS= too insure proper service.
More than what we gave was just not earned.
Arrived 20 mins early for reservation and they would not seat us despite multiple tables empty, service was very slow and long wait for food. Once food did come 2 of the 4 plates had food that was lukewarm at best. Been there multiple times and is usually far better and quicker but this experience was disappointing.
Not many food options for kids/toddlers.
