Uncle Julio's - Allen
Uncle Julio’s menu also includes Tex-Mex classics such as tacos, enchiladas & tamales all with a selection of sauces made daily. Insider tip: order the tableside guacamole. It’s prepared for you at your table; if you like it spicy kick it up a notch with fresh chopped jalapenos.
Uncle Julio’s has a vast drink selection. Try our fresh margarita of the day, made to order with fresh fruit. If you prefer a frozen drink then the Swirl is definitely the perfect choice. The Swirl is frozen sangria & frozen margarita layered together dating back to 1987.
For reservations, please allow up to 15 minutes for us to prepare your table.
I took a group for my Daughter's bd. My cheese/onion enchiladas were so hard on bottom could not cut with,a knife. Since celebrating did not say anything. I usually love the food!
I always have a great experience here! One time we did get forgotton about for and the manager came to us and offered us free desert it was okay though we didnt need anything for free cause we love coming here
5 in party, only ordered chocolate pinata it was excellent! We had a reservation and they seated a group before us, same party of 5. It was crowded, so service was not 100% so to be expected. Atmosphere was good. Went once for dinner and enjoyed it very much.
The food, drinks, and service were wonderful. My reservation was for 830, I was seated at 830. I loved our waitress.
How well do we like this restaurant? We dined here twice in 3 days. The salsa and chips are superb. The tortilla chips are light and the warm salsa a perfect accompaniment. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for the ceviche (nicely flavored with lime juice, cilantro, ship, tilapia and scallops). One of the best ceviche we've had. We ordered this on both visits. Likewise we also ordered the pulled chicken soft tacos. They had a nice smoky flavor. Unfortunately, we did not get to try the chocolate pinata, but we will definitely do so on our next trip to Allen, Tx. If you arrive early enough, ask for a place by the fireplace. Our server, Marilyn was excellent.
Attentive and personable wait staff.
Best Fajitas and tortillas we had in a long time. Chicken was juicy, and tortillas were freshly baked. The chocolate pinata was everything we expected it to be, and the servers did their best to make this a special moment for my daughters' birthday.
This was our first visit here and it definitely won't be the last. We dined here again 4 days later. See review dated 3/11/2019.
We eat at a wide variety of Tex-Mex restaurants, and none of them make beef fajitas as tasty as those at Uncle Julios. I like that their meat is served medium rare to medium, rather than overcooked to the point of being tasteless and chewy...as is the case with so many others.
I understand that those who are greeting customers need to be more friendly and open. They also need to handle better the influx of customers both, walk in’s and those with reservations. I made a reservation and even when tables and booth were available, I was asked to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. If I made a reservation was exactly to avoid that. The rest of our experience was good.
Waiter was sub-par.
Uncle Julio’s is the only Mexican restaurant I will go to. I always order beef fajitas because you don’t season them to death and I can get them rare. This time though they were closer to medium. I order them rare so that as they sit on the hot plate and continue to cook, they will still be at least medium rare. I don’t know if they sat for a long time or they overlooked them.
Excellent food & service.
The food and service was good. Beers were warm...every time we go there the bottled beer is not cold. It’s also super noisy...it’s hard to have a conversation.
Actually got my 100 points before we arrived at our table. Excellent food. Try the Nachos!!!
Had reservations and still had to wait another hour for our table
Ask for Pete. He's a great waiter. The prices are too high for Lunch. The Swirl is awesome. The food was good.
Great experience for the most part! They were extremely busy, even more so than usual. We had reservations but still had to wait about 15 min. I ordered the beef flautus which I’ve never ordered before and they were not very good. My husband and son both ordered the fajitas which they always get and enjoyed them. I won’t order the flautus again! They were too thick to eat and just fell apart when you bit into them. I also didn’t think the beef was very good.
Our reservation was for 7:45 and we were not seated until 8. Waiter was great and the food was excellent!
It was our first time to eat at Uncle Julios in Allen. I was not impressed with the pinata. There was only 5 or 6 strawberries and 5 or 6 pineapple chunks in it. I asked the waiter why there wasn't any blackberries in it and was told they ran out. It was 6:30 p.m. and they had already run out of the fruit!!!?? We paid $25.00 for this pinata and it was not worth it!! We were also looking forward to a -321 Margarita and was informed they didn't serve them at this location. You should not advertise online that you serve an item if you don't. If we had known that you didn't serve those margaritas we would have gone to a different location. The fajitas we had were very good, but overall I was not very happy with our visit.
Went for brunch. Party like atmosphere, service okay. Long wait for our meal, mine was already cold (Juevos Rancheros). Wife's meal was not correct, took about 20 minutes for the replacement.
The best chips and queso EVER! You can’t go without trying the chocolate piñata!!
We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Reservation made no difference.
Cement floors and vaulted ceiling makes this place VERY LOUD. All the food is good, but the Steak Fajitas are AMAZING!
We went here for a Valentine family dinner. Unfortunately, it was not the best. When we got our water, one of the cups had a crack and water leaked all over the table. Additionally, I ordered chicken crispy tacos and ended up getting beef instead. The waitress also seemed overwhelmed. Not a good experience for Valentine's day.
Great food and customer service.
We drive from Sherman!
We made reservations and the table was ready when we arrived. Great service and the food and drinks were teriffic. We also had the pinyata and it was also a hit. Thank you for a memorable evening!
We were most disappointed when we came with a coupon for a piñata and then were told that you were out. We had brought friends and family to enjoy the evening .
We are regulars, love the food but always hate the service. I’m hoping they’ve turned a corner because everything was wonderful - including the service!
The food at Uncle Julio's is ALWAYS fantastic! I love their streak fajitas and swirl or reverse swirl margaritas. Our party was great! The sever was a little slow, but we were a part of 6. He had to be reminded to bring refills and our order seemed to take a long time to come out, BUT everything was perfect! The Pinata was delicious!!!!! It's always a little loud in there. The older I get, the harder to hear, but still love it!
Made a reservation through Open Table and waited an hour. Manager said they took too many reservations. They couldn’t do anything about it, nor could they give me time estimate. Wish they told me that when we walked in...would’ve gone somewhere else. Was very disappointed to use an app for reservations but still had to wait as if no reservation was made.
Everything was ok.
Had a terrible experience at this restaurant! We made a reservation for 7:15 and were still not sat at a table at 8:00. We asked several times if our table was ready and were finally escorted to our table after 8:00. The table was filthy and has water all over the floor. They said they would clean it up, again we waited. When we were taken back to the table a second time, it was STILL dirty and the water had not been cleaned up! We left and went to a family owned Mexican restaurant and had a great dinner! We will NEVER come to Uncle Julio’s again! Highly recommend Cheppas Mexican restaurant in Allen!!
Our food was amazing. We only went for the chocolate pinata and loved everything we ate. It was very loud and warm, the fire was blazing, the whole time we were there. And despite making a reservation we still waited more than 20 minutes to be seated. After being seated our very busy waiter took a while to get our drink orders but once we got our drinks and food we enjoyed it. And the chocolate pinata we had for dessert was more than outstanding and my daughter loved it!
Got our table on time. Service was a bit slow and drinks took forever to arrive. It was also extremely hot in the dining area. Food was excellent as always!
Pete was very attentive server. Hot food arrived together for party of 4. Great quality food choices
Had to wait 25 mins despite having booked a table. Food was ok.
It’s been awhile since we have been to Uncle Julio’s and we were not disappointed! It’s more expensive than say on the border or some of the other chain Tex mex places, but you get what you pay for! The food was exceptional and the drinks were delicious! The only very small complaint I have is that it is very noisy, so I would suggest NOT going there if you’re looking for a nice date night with conversation.
We got there before the dinner rush but our food still came out barely warm. Not sure why it couldn’t be hotter with no time constraint to getting it out to us. Our server was ok. Only saw her twice. No water refill. ??? She was nice enough, quiet, just not very attentive.
