Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - Westside 9th Avenue Ratings and Reviews
I have been going to Uncle Jack's since Willie opened up his first restaurant on Bell Blvd in Queens. This time my wife and I shared the seafood tower and a Porter house for 2. They were both out of this world.
The meat which is served is absolutely delicious. The fresh ingredients which are used you will be able to taste, and the service is top notch. Uncle Jacks has a great bar scene and they have bartenders who know how to make the perfect drink.
Uncle Jacks was ok in every way. Nothing bad. We chose it for the location and because it was rated by both Zagat and OpenTable. It has a nice bar, though we sat at a table since there were 6 of us. My steak was slightly over cooked but everyone else’s was correct. The wedge salad was good. The decor was a little faded. This is a moderate, old school steakhouse.
Would have given a higher rating but the strip steak delivered to the table was so small and mis shapped, if it was my order, I would have sent it back. My friend ate and said it was good, but it was not acceptable from my point of view. My 8 oz filet was perfect. When your paying the NY price, they should not cut corners on the steak.
I have been to the other 2 Uncle Jack's so we were looking forward to dining at this one on the West side. The staff ( they couldn't do enough) and the ambiance was wonderful. However, my husband and our friend ordered the porterhouse for 2 and found the strip sirloin part very grizzly and tough to chew. They have had it in the other two Uncle Jack's where they enjoyed the dish emensly. We told them to tell the waiter but they did not want to make waves. Everything else was delicious.
Best filet ever, juicy, tasty, thick, tender. Scott, our server, was attentive and thoroughly professional. The manager (Firuzeh?) came over and talked to us. She was solicitous and respectful in wanting to know how things were going. Yes, we had a good time. We'll be back...
Usually reliable but must have been over staffed. Service very slow and inattentive water glasses empty on many occasions and steak for two that should have come out of the kitchen sizzling was warm enough to eat but just barely. Will think twice before going back.
I used to count on Uncle Jacks for a fullfilling, fantastic classic steak dinner, but lately they have gone downhill. The side portions of gotten much smaller, in fact smaller than most restaurants yet three times as expensive. Food presentation was atrocious, even Red Lobster would do better. (The oysters appetizer at $24 was just thrown on plate with couple random pieces of lettuce) Overall, I can now say it is absolutely not worth the high price. They seriously need to up their game at these prices.
i'm not impressed at all, the lobster bisque i ordered was so salty, cannot even finish. the salmon was so tiny piece, only one or two bite. For the price i paid for is really not worth it. the beet salad was also tiny portion for the price, and the beet wasn't good or fresh at all. Our waiter wasn't that friendly neither, probably because it was busy. Don't think i will come back or recommend to anyone, sorry.
