Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - Westside 9th Avenue Ratings and Reviews
We were at Uncle Jacks before and had a great time and could not wait to bring back friends we raved about the service, food and atmosphere. Well this past Saturday night was horrendous. We were seated and the hostess did not provide us with menus so we sat and sat and waited for our waiter to make his big entrance. Never happened. Then when he did he took our drink order but took forever to bring them. Also imagine the restaurant with a lot of empty tables so this should not be happening. Took our order we started with two salads he comes over and starts to take the second one away with out asking if we were done. We were served our meal and he was gone for the rest of the time. The service did not match expectations considering what we spent. WE will never be going back not that matters to management.
Uncle Jacks never disappoints. From the second you walk through the door, you feel welcomed and at home. The service and food quality are second to none. I’ve been going to The Uncle Jacks in Bayside since they opened in the mid 90’s and it is great to see that the quality has only gotten better with their expansion. Two thumbs up and thanks for a truly fantastic evening.
8 in party 7 ordered beef, 6 of thought the following. We believe what they offer on the menu is not the product the serve. They state it is prime beef, it is not. They offered a bone in tenderloin it was not even a tenderloin let alone a prime beef! We informed the staff who in a very automated way said they would get the manager (the impression was they get complaints a lot!) at this point what can they do? They offer replace the steaks with another cut of beef... net/net avoid this place there are plenty of other $$$$ steakhouse in Manhattan
It was my son's birthday. He had filet mignon and loved it. My husband lived the strip steak. Baked potato could have been softer. Asparagus were really delicious but Brussels sprouts not so much. The pecan pie was outstanding. I had the organic chicken which was very good.
The only thing I don’t like at the majority of restaurants is that they look at you as if you are crazy or you are a strange thing when you walk alone. I would think this is common for most big city restaurants. They should have a protocol for lonely guests for them if they are walking alone.
Our food was placed on the table more than 35min after the salads. My daughters filet mignon was good but my NY Stip was one of the worst cuts of meat I had ever been served. The Brussel Sprouts were not prepared as requested and had to be redone. Overall for the price the meal was poor.
I have eaten at Uncle Jacks dozens of time and all of my reviews have been very good to excellent. Unfortunately this review will not be like that. In all the years visiting all the locations this is the worst experience I have had at Uncle Jacks. The service was horrible and the food, while good was not up to their usual standards.
It was a party of four and we were there for 2 hours and saw our waiter twice. Once to take the order and once to deliver the check. As an example all four of us ordered the exact same salad and two of us got ours. We had to flag someone down and ask (after almost 10min) where the others salads were. After another 5min they arrived from some other waiter. Our waiter never apologized or offered an explanation. The was repeated throughout the dinner (1 side was missing and took 5min to track down and was delivered lukewarm). Desert was mess, two orders screwed up and had to repeatedly flag someone down to get the check.
All of my other reviews have always been positive so this isn't a case of the only review I post is negative but I felt very disappointed, compounded by the fact the other couple we were with were they because we recommended it. I feel they didn't not get a great experience and they expressed their disappointment as we had told them of our many fine meals there.
The steak is what you would expect at a New York city steakhouse. The atmosphere reminds me of what an old fashion saloon should look like and makes dinner fun. The wait staff is very attentive, we were a party of eight and nobody felt that were waiting for anything.
Our service was great, very thoughtful staff. The food is pricey and very well prepared. It was our 50th anniversary and the food, ambiance, service were great. I had the marinated swordfish which was just OK, a tad dry but the marinade covered that. My hisbands steak was perfectly cooked nd very tender and flavorful.
The service was very good and out waiter personable. We split a porterhouse and it was excellent along with the creamed spinach. But the "disco fries" were just ok.
I wanted a crabmeat cocktail which I had gotten there and the Queens location many times but they didn't have it available.
They also didn't have my wine selection which the waiter told us they were out of for a week. He did recommend a similarly priced replacement and it was excellent.
Overall an excellent meal but I guess I have to expect perfection. As steakhouses go they are even more expensive than most.
