I had eaten at Uncle Jacks Steakhouse a little over 10 years ago, and praised it regularly as the high water mark for a steak every day since. I had the opportunity to spend a day with my daughter in NYC for her birthday and took the opportunity to return there for the first time since that time years ago. The food was amazing, but the waiter seemed annoyed to have to wait on a father and his 13 year old daugher. It felt more like a push to get us our food and rush us out there, which is a shame given that we spent over $180. It felt like he was as polite as he was obliged to be, but not at all interested in engaging in conversation or making this a particularity enjoyable experience. At the end of the meal he asked to pack up our food, which was frankly one of the things was the most excited about to have an opportunity to share the meal with a few other family members at home. He asked what we would like to take home, and I asked him to please pack everything. When I got home I was disappointing to see that he only threw the meat in a to-go container and didn't bother 'with the considerable amount of "juice" that the steak was sitting in or any of the hollandaise we had also ordered. Overall this has left a disappointing impression on a restaurant that I had previously held in high regard. I'm not sure if he was trying to convey a sense of being annoyed, or if it was just a lack of caring, but that's the impression that was given.
Took some family to NYC for their first taste of the Big Apple. Wanted to have a nice family sit-down dinner but had to take into consideration some food allergies (gluten and dairy). Uncle Jack's had us covered and then some. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation for each item. Everyone had a wonderful time and even three days later my father was still raving about the food/service.
There are many places to get a good steak in NYC but Uncle Jack's combination of unique atmosphere, excellent wait staff, and mouth watering food has made it a family favorite.
Been there often. The perfect "Go To" spot. Found it for business, then brought the wife. Never a bad meal. GET THE BACON !!!
Great service and food
The service was great and the food was better would recommend this for anyone.
Really great food, service and wine selection. A little pricey but understandable for the quality and service rendered. You will not be disappointed.
We had 5:30 Rez coming from theater and really not many people in place , so we're do they seat us next to linen closet, very disappointed and had to asked to be moved really place was empty and that's the best place to seat us ,
Great food and wonderful service. Big portions, enough to share
Say at the bar . Crystal was great
2nd Time to this Establishment.
Food is good.
Hosts Do Not Follow instructions.
Requested to not be seated in a High Traffic Area, & was sat RIGHT BY THE FRONT DOOR!!
Not going back just because the foods good.
Great service and attitude from Deena the bartender. Had high hopes for a high quality steak dinner, did not deliver. Wagyu $80 ribeye undercooked and fatty. Prime filet on the bone was mostly bone. Very cool atmosphere but food fell short.
Noisy steakhouse. Waiter seemed indifferent about being there. Food was good. Overall, not that big a deal
Service was poor. We had to request a refill on our drinks. Baked potatoe was served cold. Steaks were average. Wedge salads were good.
Out of 3 meals, the NY Strip was very fatty and the bone in filet was ice cold in the middle.
Food was outstanding, service was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable.
Fantastic experience. Great food, great old school vibe, really impressed.
Once again the service and food was exceptional! The manager Luigi is a true gentleman and is very hospitable! Mike the bartender was a great conversationist! One of my top 3 steak and seafood places!
They were closed when I arrived. No one bothered to inform guests with reservations that they would close. Had they it would have been understandable as there was a snow storm.
I have dined at this great under the radar steakhouse many times, however, the combination of excellent service by Antonio and superbly cooked steaks and sides made this one of my best experiences at any steak house.
I asked for my steak 30 seconds per side, and they did not disappoint, my steak was served perfectly, which is barely cooked at all. Several other steak places served my blue-rare order medium rare, which left me terribly disappointed. Uncle Jack delivered and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. The martini at the bar was expertly mixed and the bottle of wine with the meal was super delish. When I go to NYC and I want a steak, it will always be Uncle Jack.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here -- delicious food, cooked perfectly. Warm, inviting atmosphere and exceptional service.
Great NYC experience fine dinning a but pricy but great food
Grey Happy Hour met great people. And staff
Perfect steak. Fries were terrible. Tasted liked they were from a fast food restuarant. Side portions bad. Sautéed broccoli was dry.
Excellent steak and sides
First time but definitely not the last. Great food, great Steak and Superb Service.
Great food a superb staff. Mad conducting our business a pleasure
Our table was ready when we got there on the first floor. I asked if we could be moved to upstairs, and was quickly accommodated. Food and service were excellent and we were NOT rushed. Noise level on second floor is perfect for us older folks.
We will be back.
I don't eat meat but I do love classic Steakhouse side dishes and Uncle Jack's does that very well. Their creamed spinach is truly creamed and they serve the biggest baked potato that I have ever seen in my life.
Great food and service
Great steakhouse. Lunch menu a little minimal but dinner menu is great. Highly recommend.
I love this place! I go EVERY time I'm in NYC. Great for business dinners, excellent service! Food is incredible. The bacon appetizer is heaven.
The food was top notch as usual. All the courses were presented well. The service was not overbearing but concerned. We were not rushed even though customers kept coming in. As a party of four we were in and out in under two hours.
Overpriced steak. Can get better cooked steak at this price at other places. Bread offering was incredibly weak.
It was good . Our server was very professional knows a lot details on the menu . Very well prepared . Everything was good
I have been going to Uncle Jack's since Willie opened up his first restaurant on Bell Blvd in Queens. This time my wife and I shared the seafood tower and a Porter house for 2. They were both out of this world.
The meat which is served is absolutely delicious. The fresh ingredients which are used you will be able to taste, and the service is top notch. Uncle Jacks has a great bar scene and they have bartenders who know how to make the perfect drink.
Very pleasant Valentine's Day Dinner.
Thank you to the staff.
Uncle Jacks was ok in every way. Nothing bad. We chose it for the location and because it was rated by both Zagat and OpenTable. It has a nice bar, though we sat at a table since there were 6 of us. My steak was slightly over cooked but everyone else’s was correct. The wedge salad was good. The decor was a little faded. This is a moderate, old school steakhouse.
