Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - Midtown 56th Street Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. It was decent, but not worth it. Several frustrating aspects, the menu online was not available- which is why we went. They didn't have chicken tenders for the kids menu, they also didn't have 1 of the 3 sandwiches they offered on that menu. So, we probably would not go back.
Not great. Yellowfin tuna was not good - no flavor and not cooked accurately. Don't bother ordering that dish.
Mac n cheese was good.
Potato was fine - can't really mess that up short of undercooking it.
Ny strip had a lot of fat.
Bread was not warm and butter was very cold.
It was decorated nicely for holidays.
Was very excited to try. The service really was lacking and it’s what they pride themselves on. Our waiter came by twice and the first time was to force us to order. The food was just OK. Who ever is the pastry chef did a wonderful job and that was the highlight of the entire meal. Who serves a steak on a cold plate. Not warm, hot, room temp, cold, this place.
We got there about 10 minutes early (6:50) and the hostess/manager offered to seat us right away because he needed our table for 8:15 reservation. At first I was like OK, so I said thank you. He looked at me and said she (my wife) already said that.
Again was very excited to try this place. Read some great reviews about it. If I was Willie Jack Degel, I’d be embarrassed and pull best Steakhouse in New York off the sign.
I'd been to Uncle Jack's previously. Was disappointed this time because I could tell from the minute I walked in with my 11-year old niece, that I was sized up and then stuck at a table next to the kitchen. In spite of the fact that I had a confirmed reservation, there was quite a bit of juggling and running around to determine where they were going to seat us. We definitely felt like 2nd-class patrons--even my niece noticed that service was slow and our waiter was not particularly attentive.
I will not waste my money on Uncle Jack's again.
Very slow timing between salad and main course. 40 minutes! Ridiculous
Appetizers and salads came out timely. Just couldn't get steaks/main courses out
Waiter knew and said he told the manager
Manager did NOT come by our table to apologize!
And restaurant was half empty
Because of this I would not review mnend thus location of uncle jacks
Food was very good but service was erratic . Had to ask waiter for wine list. His overall approach was rather quirky. Evidently his shift ended and he just said goodnight but the passover to the new shift was problematic . Coffee was never delivered until we asked second server about our order. Check was also not delivered until we asked another person for it. Little things like that throw off the entire experience. When you pay NYC prices you expect superior service.
My and the wife come to NY every year for our anniversary and have been talking about Uncle jacks for a while now. We came in with high expectations! Being you know restaurant stakeout.. luckily we had a good couple next to us because the tables our very very very close together! Took 40 minutes for my wife to receive 1 (non) alcohol drink. That was the last, let's just say that.. I had a Coke and was never asked for a refill, had to wave him down consistently. Food was amazing!!!
We've really loved Uncle Jack's in the past and we've made it a routine stop in our NYC travels. This visit however left us disappointed. The food was good (it always is) but the service was really bad, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. For the price, we expect good food AND good service. Might need to find ourselves a new NYC favorite.
Our second visit to Uncle Jacks from the Uk and it didn't disappoint. The fillet mignon was cooked to perfection and the sides of sautéed asparagus and garlic mash were a perfect accompaniment to our steaks. Service good and staff friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.
Food is delicious and tasting. Staff is helpful and friendly. The restaurant is a bit tight and packed with customers sitting close to each others which noise level is noticeable.
Overall, this is a great place for a special occasion who want to enjoy great food and cheer up together but not a business venue nor romantic place for dating couples.
I was really looking forward to dining at unclejacks but came out disappointed..Yes the staff were friendly but intrusive. We didnt get time to relax there were so many staff on top of us as soon as we sat down.By The end of our meal l couldn't get anyone's attention.Barely recognised The hostest when we arrived dressed really casual never introduced herself..The meal came to $200.was not worth that..My fish was really salty ..There was a French couple beside us asking the waiter about weight of meal and he was really rude to them..
Uncle Jack’s rarely disappoints. The porterhouse was delicious, and their Wagyu meatball appetizer is absolutely special! It was my guy’s birthday and they brought out a decadent chocolate dessert for him, on the house. The service is wonderful and the decor is elegant...it’s not your typical sawdust-on-the-floor steakhouse. I always enjoy myself at Uncle Jack’s and this is my favorite location.
