Uncle Jack's Steakhouse - Bayside Ratings and Reviews
Went here for my mom's 89th birthday. Sergio, our waiter, was fantastic. Friendly, helpful and treated my mother as the birthday girl she was. Had the seafood platter and Caesar salad as appetizers -- both excellent and enough for 6 people (which we were). We each had various kinds of steak. My filet mignon was perfect -- charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. Sides of garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and brussel sprouts were all very tasty. Pecan pie was a good choice for dessert. Great food and very accommodating. It is pricey but everything was top level.
The bacon in maple sauce is an absolute must appetizer--delicious and good value. In contrast the Brazilian lobster tail was nothing special (a bit tough) and overpriced. The steaks are what you would expect from a Manhattan style steakhouse both in terms of quality and price. The house prosecco and cabernet were both solid. Dinner for two with 2 drinks each ran $280 before tip (those lobster tails) and so its not an every week restaurant. Parking is a real nightmare around the restaurant so plan accordingly. Second time I have been there and both times have been good experiences.
This is my 3rd visit. The appetizers, especially the bacon, are worth the trip. Generous portion and excellent quality.
Service is top-notch --- friendly, attentive waiters.
My only negative comment is that the lobster/avocado salad was light on the avocado, light on the lobster, and too heavy on the dressing. For $21 I'd expect more avocado, for sure.
So AFTER being seated we are told that most of the items on the brunch menu aren’t available because the kitchen “got a late start”. Really?? The options were a burger or an omelette and “maybe” you can get eggs Benedict. If they had said that before seating is we would have left. But they didn’t for obvious reasons because they know most people aren’t going to leave after they are seated. NEVER again.
I've been going to Uncle Jack's for years & not just for special occasions. The menu options are excellent & their steaks are phenomenal & cooked to perfection! The crab cakes are unbelievable!! ! I've been to other steak houses, but Uncle Jack's is the best! I highly recommend! If you've never been there, give it a try. You will not be disappointed!!
The meal was rushed, not expecting this in a steakhouse. One of the sides of vegetable was burnt, should never have left the kitchen, at least we didn't have to pay for it. The worst was my stomach bothered me for 24 hours after having the samon for dinner. Totally disappointing and too expensive. I was expecting a wonderful meal and it did not come close.
Took my wife, adult son, and his girlfriend to dinner. We did get seated on time, although the tables are jammed so close together I wasn't sure which table I was sitting at. We st for quite a while without anyone coming to greet us. Eventually a waiter came. No introduction. We ordered some wine, and then placed our dinner order. Bread? No. We eventually asked twice after our appetizers were delivered. We finally got some. Three of us order Filet Mignon on the Bone. Charred on the outside like every other good steakhouse? NO. All three had that telltale gray color that indicted it was not charred in the broiler; maybe not even seared? Also, the pricey truffle butter that I ordered was sitting atop someone else's steak (in fairness, quickly corrected by the waiter). I'm sorry, a gray Filet is not what I payed all that money for. Normally I would have sent them back, but this was the first time we'd invited our son's GF to a quality dinner, and I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. I expected better. We won't be returning.
It was a terrible evening. The food was horrible and 2 people got sick. The bathrooms are dirty and the place smells near the stairway. We called numerous times and Melissa was supposed to call us back. She did not. We spoke to a suppposely chief chef and he said he will email us and of course he did not. No one in this restaurant had the decency to call us back. We are going to call the health dept. I wouldn't give this place a one star. The steak was cold and you compare yourself to Peter Lugos. This restaurant is managed very poorly. I am contacting corporate.
