Umi Sake House Ratings and Reviews
I loved everything about the place except for one thing which is just me being picky. The chairs in the garden room are quite low and the bench seats are not proportional so it makes conversation a little awkward and you end up either propping yourself on the table or slouching back into the seat.
My fiancé and I were visiting from out of town. Months before our visit I searched for the best sushi in Seattle (as it’s one of our fav’s)... Umi came up and I made a reservation. Two friends joined us for a night of good food, good beer and great company! Definitely recommend!
First, even though we were on time we still had to wait for our table another 20 minutes. Then we were seated in the middle of the room, even though we had requested a quieter corner because we were celebrating my wife's birthday. We could barely hear each other above all the noise. Don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon.
Did this restaurant recently undergo a management or chef change? It used to be so much better. We took our extended families here for a post holiday dinner and were almost embarrassed by the quality of the food. Service was excellent, but the food was not good compared to what it was last time I visited (months and months ago) and also compared to what you can get at a similar restaurant. Even for the HH pricing, I wouldn't go back.
Umi has a thoughtful menu, decent happy hour and great service.
I probably would have felt better about the restaurant if my feet didn’t stick to the floor and the women’s restroom were better maintained.
I might go back again, but with so many choices for places to eat, I might not be there anytime soon.
Had an amazing time here! My boyfriend and I came for dinner (made reservations ahead of time) and were seated right when we arrived. The wait staff is wonderful and was always around to clean a plate, answer a question or fill up the water. I did the sake tasting (3 sakes) and had some great suggestions from the waitress. I hadn't realized how much sake can be effected by the food (much like wine) so try some of the sake with a few bites of food--all the difference! We ordered a few pieces of sushi along with a couple of rolls. We absolutely loved the tuna, it was one of the best pieces that we've had, but were a little disappointed by the salmon sampler. Perhaps we had high expectations due to the other reviews.
We will definitely come back, highly recommend!
Not our type of place. Could not have a conversation because along with the music, it was just too loud. We chose 5 rolls and really only liked one of them. Also prefer to have a regular height table to eat from. The low tables were not comfortable for eating. Place was packed and saw some really interesting rolls go by.
