Umi Sake House Ratings and Reviews
Umi has a thoughtful menu, decent happy hour and great service.
I probably would have felt better about the restaurant if my feet didn’t stick to the floor and the women’s restroom were better maintained.
I might go back again, but with so many choices for places to eat, I might not be there anytime soon.
Had an amazing time here! My boyfriend and I came for dinner (made reservations ahead of time) and were seated right when we arrived. The wait staff is wonderful and was always around to clean a plate, answer a question or fill up the water. I did the sake tasting (3 sakes) and had some great suggestions from the waitress. I hadn't realized how much sake can be effected by the food (much like wine) so try some of the sake with a few bites of food--all the difference! We ordered a few pieces of sushi along with a couple of rolls. We absolutely loved the tuna, it was one of the best pieces that we've had, but were a little disappointed by the salmon sampler. Perhaps we had high expectations due to the other reviews.
We will definitely come back, highly recommend!
Not our type of place. Could not have a conversation because along with the music, it was just too loud. We chose 5 rolls and really only liked one of them. Also prefer to have a regular height table to eat from. The low tables were not comfortable for eating. Place was packed and saw some really interesting rolls go by.
Pretty loud in there and very busy for a Tuesday night. Took forever to get my drink out, and took a while for food to arrive. Wait staff seemed very busy. Really terrific food, great ambiance, very fun and exciting. Love this place, just don't go if you're looking to get in and get out. It's an experience.
I booked a "date night" to Umi Sake House through OpenTable but the experience was far from what a "date night" should be. We booked for a 7pm and got there around 6:50pm. The girl at the front said it would be a little after 7 because they were looking for a table for us. So we went to the bar. We went back to the front a little after 7 and the girl told us to have a seat and that our table would be ready soon. If I booked for 7pm, I expect to be seated at 7pm, not have to be sitting around for a table. The girl at the front was obviously stressed at how busy it was that she came off very rude. The rest of the service was very good the whole nigh. When we got seated, our table was against the wall and surrounded by the crowd. It was anything but romantic. If I chose "date night" then I expected to have a table somewhere private not in the center of a crowd. That's why I am rating the experience as "fair." However, our food was amazing. The best sushi I've ever had and well worth the money. I will definitely be back.
Went to Umi with a couple of coworkers before hitting the airport - we had to wait a little for a table, but that's to be expected. The food was all fantastic and the service was excellent. My only complaint is that it was a bit cold in there, and very loud; it was hard to hear our conversations without raising our voices. We ordered five rolls and some sashimi which was plenty of food and broke out to about $40pp which seemed totally reasonable. Overall, would recommend.
We always stop at Umi when we are in Seattle. Our first time was 8 years ago, and we visit Seattle at least every couple of years. The restaurant was not as busy our first time, but it has gotten busier each time we go, and the food never disappoints. They also have a great happy hour!
