I always love Umi, it and it's sister restaurant Momiji are my favorite sushi restaurants in Seattle. The rolls were excellent as always, as was the service. However, and this was by no means the fault of Umi, there was this table of drunk mid 30s white women seated at the table next to me and my dining partner and they were incredibly loud and obnoxious. So much so that even when shouting, my dining partner and I could not hear each other converse during certain parts of the meal because they were so loud. In hindsight I should have said something, but at the time I figured discretion is the better part of valour. Next time though...

To all the drunk white women out there, here's a pro tip: I know you think what you're talking about is the funniest and most awesome thing ever, but I can guarantee you it's not. Have some consideration for those around you and keep it down.

The food and service was excellent and extremely fast. My only issue is the noise level was too high to really be able to hear my friend 2 feet away from me.

Excellent experience and arrived early from an event. Accommodated the change in reservation with a little wait but while worth the time. Food incredible, service excellent, and environment modern, best Sushi outside of Tokyo.

Went here with a large group. Food was good but I was disappointed with the speed of service. Particularly because had a reservation at 530pm and were told by staff when we arrived that we had to be out by 7pm to make room for another party.

I loved everything about the place except for one thing which is just me being picky. The chairs in the garden room are quite low and the bench seats are not proportional so it makes conversation a little awkward and you end up either propping yourself on the table or slouching back into the seat.

The Seattle fried roll was so greasy and mushy. It was the worst sushi roll I ever had. The miso soup was bland. Would not go here again

My fiancé and I were visiting from out of town. Months before our visit I searched for the best sushi in Seattle (as it’s one of our fav’s)... Umi came up and I made a reservation. Two friends joined us for a night of good food, good beer and great company! Definitely recommend!

First, even though we were on time we still had to wait for our table another 20 minutes. Then we were seated in the middle of the room, even though we had requested a quieter corner because we were celebrating my wife's birthday. We could barely hear each other above all the noise. Don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon.

Did this restaurant recently undergo a management or chef change? It used to be so much better. We took our extended families here for a post holiday dinner and were almost embarrassed by the quality of the food. Service was excellent, but the food was not good compared to what it was last time I visited (months and months ago) and also compared to what you can get at a similar restaurant. Even for the HH pricing, I wouldn't go back.

Umi Sake is a family tradition around holidays and birthdays. It is the first request when we have visitors.

We love the variety of rolls and sushi and the service is phenomenal. The wait staff is always present but not overbearing.

It was a mistake to choose a sushi restaurant named after its sake selection considering that I don't drink, but the unmet expectation was in the food. I expect a lot from even a $40 omakase sashimi, and was left disappointed by how boring it turned out.

We opted into Umi because of the high ratings. Outstanding service and staff would rate the food as average. Had a couple rolls tempura style, part of the happy hour offer, average. Sashimi was nice, fish buttery fresh.

Probably will not return.

Umi has a thoughtful menu, decent happy hour and great service.

I probably would have felt better about the restaurant if my feet didn’t stick to the floor and the women’s restroom were better maintained.

I might go back again, but with so many choices for places to eat, I might not be there anytime soon.

Enjoyed buttery fresh sashimi salmon along with other delicious sushi rolls, and complimentary edamame! Great atmosphere, very lively although it somewhat died off later in the evening.

Had an amazing time here! My boyfriend and I came for dinner (made reservations ahead of time) and were seated right when we arrived. The wait staff is wonderful and was always around to clean a plate, answer a question or fill up the water. I did the sake tasting (3 sakes) and had some great suggestions from the waitress. I hadn't realized how much sake can be effected by the food (much like wine) so try some of the sake with a few bites of food--all the difference! We ordered a few pieces of sushi along with a couple of rolls. We absolutely loved the tuna, it was one of the best pieces that we've had, but were a little disappointed by the salmon sampler. Perhaps we had high expectations due to the other reviews.

We will definitely come back, highly recommend!

Not our type of place. Could not have a conversation because along with the music, it was just too loud. We chose 5 rolls and really only liked one of them. Also prefer to have a regular height table to eat from. The low tables were not comfortable for eating. Place was packed and saw some really interesting rolls go by.

Great fresh fish. Had more than just standard selections. No extra rice padding on sushi allowed for taste of fish to shine. Great sake selection with a knowledgeable host to help select.
