Umi Sake House
Perfect spot for locals and a great location to bring guests
I’ve eaten there before. First the attempted to put five of us into a table for four. My son is 6’4” and plays football. We couldn’t fit at a tiny table. The metal chair are SOOOOOOO uncomfortable. I’ve water there before and they don’t make you feel relaxed enough to enjoy your meal. Everyone at our table were complaining about them. The only good thing about our dinner was the Sake and our Waitress. She was amazing...
This was a FABULOUS find! The service was exceptional, the food was phenomenal and the vibe/atmosphere was very cool. This eclectic place was such a lucky find. The best part was that we stumbled upon it during happy hour. 5-8 (There were drink specials, appetizers, sushi, sashimi)... all for incredibly reasonable prices. I’m not usually one to write a review of anything, but this was an above & beyond experience.
I love the sushi at the restaurant. I travel to Seattle a few times a year and I make a point to visit and direct other there as well. I have made three trips there this year so far.
Went for the Happy Hour - was affordable and sushi was very fresh. Great service As well.
Lovely back room area with greenery and couch seating.
Overall great experience! The food is delicious, the servers are nice and quick even when it’s a busy and the atmosphere and decor is really pleasing. Would definitely visit again!
Best meal in Seattle! Happy hour is where it's at! Fabulous service and quality. Woukd highly recommend!
Best happy hour I've ever had. Great food & drinks at a reasonable price with good service.
For some reason there was a fly situation which really made for an irritating dining experience. We continuously had to swat our food to prevent their landing. The drinking water tasted like chlorine pool water which is unusual for Seattle tap water. When we complained, we were told many were complaining but were not offered an alternative. The food was very good. I just wish all the stars had aligned that night.
Dined during happy hour. Quality was good, nothing outstanding, but selection was large and ambiance was fun. Service was friendly, our drinks were late and server comped them, which was appreciated.
Overrated, the experience was average.
Service wasn’t great and we had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time when we got there early
We came mostly for the Lobster soup and tempura but it was unavailable:(.
Everything else we ordered was wonderful
Our favorite sushi spot in Seattle! A must whenever we visit.
great food - wonderful selection - nice area under the skyight
Great food, atmosphere and service!
Highly recommend. Sushi was delicious. Service outstanding. Vegan options soo good.
Food was great, server was very knowledgeable and able to make really nice recommendations on sake flights and sushi. Lower rating stems from very poor interaction with hostess team. We were treated rudely at the hostess booth, enough to possibly discourage my party from returning. It really just soured the restaurant experience.
Met a friend at Umi for dinner and some sake. Had a 6:45pm reservation on a Tuesday.
Very busy (and I don't think it had anything to do with the fact that it was National Sushi Day as I think Umi is generally busy) and VERY loud.
However, the food was good (expensive though) and we were able to have good conversation.
I'd recommend Umi for the size of the menu (many options for rolls) and the location. Lots of other great sushi restaurants to choose from that I'd recommend before Umi.
One of the best Happy Hours in Belltown by far. Typically 45 mins to an hour is plenty of time to order 1 or 2 courses and have a couple cocktails. This time around they seemed pretty understaffed for the rush. Our server ran her tail off trying to stay afloat, but at one point she had 8 or 9 tables going. Our order was a little messed up, but she was apologetic and comped one of the incorrect items which was sweet. Food is always awesome, but it took a half hour to get drinks and 45 minutes to get food, so happy hour was done before we could order another round of everything. Won't prevent us from going back, but we'll probably get there earlier next time so we don't run out of time.
Great way to spend a birthday dinner :)
Always amazing that’s why I keep coming back, best sushi spot around
Overpriced, loud, harried staff and inconsistent quality across dishes left us feeling that we had just eaten at the after party in a college area restaurant.
This restaurant is always the girls’ night choice. The sushi is outstanding and the service is excellent and fast. It is super loud, just know that going in.
Very loud amd server was not good at all. Table amd chairs were dirty. Food is very good.
Awesome food, as usual. The main dining area is quite loud, as always.
Umi is my favorite sushi restaurant. They have very unique rolls and flavor combinations that are truly awesome and the visual presentation is outstanding. Do yourself a favor and try a Lychee Saki-tini, you'll see why.
Love UMI sake house! prices are decent, atmosphere is bustling... but we ordered spicy tuna roll and the tuna was the mushiest, grossest tuna I’ve ever had🤢
Great food served by a very polite & helpful server. We loved it.
The sushi was good but i just left feeling “meh” about the whole experience. Waiter was fine. Food was fine. Drinks were fine. Nothing was exceptional.
My favorite sushi spot - has been for many years, thank you for continuing to impress!
The service and over all ambiance was great. We ordered a couple of apps and rolls to share. The soft shell crab, black cod and tofu were good, but the rolls were all pretty disappointing. The rolls were cut super thin, about 1/3 of an inch thick and every slice would immediately fall apart when you picked it up. There was also weird an abundance of sauces or something they used to drench each roll. So the rolls were are swimming in a pool of liquid, with a mixture of soupy liquid and rice— similar to a porridge.
If I were to comeback again I would give the rolls a wide berth and stick to nigiri and other apps.
Fav sushi place!
Great but hard to hear over the crowd
We came here late after the baseball game. The sushi was super fresh and the service was very good. The place was busy and had a great reverse happy hour menu for late night. Ended up feeling like I stumbled into a heck of a deal. I would highly recommend to hungry late night fans.
Maybe my standard is too high, nothing really wrong with the experience. The service was great, and ambiance is excellent for date and friends. However, I had issue with their food. Overall, everything seem to be too oily and over cocked. The sashimi is okay for regular standard. In their price point, I was expecting more refine dinning experience.
Great food and happy hour specials are great. Definitely coming back.
Very positive experience.
Food and sake were amazing. Service was great and loved all of her recommendations. Other reviews are spot on — it is loud and energetic but location and taste can’t be beat.
