Umi Sake House
I felt like our server hated that she was having to serve us. Like we were bothering her or something. The food was mediocre at best, but maybe my table all ordered the wrong things. I got the three devils roll and it had this disgusting fake strawberry candy sauce on it that made the whole roll taste like chemicals. Maybe I just got the wrong thing but I probably won’t be back. The fish on the rolls also didn’t taste very high quality or fresh
I would recommend Umi Sake to a young friend :) A bit too club-like for our taste. However! The food and service was very good!
So delicious! My favorite is the Ladybug roll. Yummmm!
The sushi’s rice was little sticky. It should be more firmly.
Lots of food for a good price during happy hour. More like bar food than a high end Japanese restaurant.
Waitress took 1/2 hour to acknowledge us, we arrived at 4:45, the restaurant was very quiet at the time. She came seldom to check on us, once our appetizers then forever to order our entrees, and drinks. She went to the table next to our a million times however. Service was awful. I don’t get it, never had this occur to me at all. Not to mention to write a review. Turn the whole experience and our first time there s real turnoff. Not worth it especially for the quality of food. The service turned us off so badly, we didn’t get to enjoy the food, since it was exhausting just getting her attention to order everything from appetizers to drinks, never. Bummer especially since I was really looking forward to taking my husband out for the evening.
It was a great place to eat Sushi in Seattle.
The happy hour starts a bit late 10 pm and th eenergy vibes are amazing.
I dont like fish but the veggie Sushi and crispy ginger chicken is to die for.
Dont forget to order the Mochi ice cream at the end!
Superb! On par with Nobu and Morimoto.
This restaurant is one of my family's favorites. So, I made reservation for family dinner and requested garden seat at reservation. But, greeter did Not gave us the best seat she has.( So many tables were still empty, but, she gave us darkest spot in the garden room. I asked to server to let us move to better seat, and, we got better spot finally). Greeter(lady) needs more customer service attitude to greeting, welcoming, helping costumers.
It was amazing food sorry,we broke a plate.
Loved this place! Sake, sushi rolls, and Udon soup were all delicious. Our server and the manager were so attentive and knowledgeable and the inside lighting and plants were beautiful! The only thing was is that it was a bit noisy with the music and people’s conversation but we loved the fun upbeat vibe! 10/10 would recommend this place!’
Out with friends
We went for an early dinner and managed to get a pretty good value by ordering a bunch off the Happy Hour menu. Service was fast for most items (except for a seaweed salad that was so delayed we ended up cancelling it). Cool atmosphere and very attentive service. The fish tasted great, although they were inconsistent on spiciness for some of the maki (tuna was over-peppery and salmon had virtually no spice). Don’t go without a reservation; by the time we left, a little after 6pm, there was quite the number of people waiting for a table!
The happy hour service was amazing, I was surprised by the amount of variety included for drinks, appetizers, and rolls.
Went in with five people, ended up eating for ten.
Umi came as a personal recommendation. It didn’t disappoint. We arrived promptly at our reservation time, alongside a few other guests. We were all seated quickly, and complementary edimame was dropped at the table alongside waters very quickly.
The server was quick to reply when we asked for certain recommendations, and her rec’s were spot on.
The sashimi was as large, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth as I’ve ever had. The specialty rolls were also a wonderful mix of flavors and textures. We finished off with the green tea tiramisu and warm sake.
Fantastic meal. Would go back anytime!
Food was excellent and came out fast. Server was polite it just took a while to place initial drink order as well subsequent drink order. Would return and recommend just have an expectation of slow but polite service
The vegetarian options, of which there are many, are quite good. We’ll be going back for the food. Our waiter wasn’t pleasant - I don’t need to be friends with my waiter - and when she was hurriedly swapping out one sushi platter for another asked me to take the last piece. I picked it up with my chopsticks, she bumped me with the platter, the sushi landed in my soy sauce splattering my blouse with soy sauce. It was an accident, aside from her being in such a hurry. As a person whose waited tables I was shocked there was no automatic apology even if it wasn’t her fault; when something goes wrong you apologize. No offer to bring extra napkins or soda water for my blouse. So it was kind of a weird vibe and I was grumpy. Hence the low service rating. Really good food though.
Umi is fire! I love swinging by for their Happy Hour specials whenever I’m in the area. The atmosphere is pretty chill, and the rolls are always bangin’.
Good food, fresh sushi. Love that they bring edamame to every table! Really cool space but uncomfortable seating. Service was good. Happy hour prices are fantastic, but wouldn’t want to pay full price.
I do not write many reviews but the sushi was the best I have ever had.
The restaurant was very chic and upscale and the service was excellent.
It was a bit loud and very busy when we went.
Great food, an amazing saki list and good service make this a fun evening out. On the down side, the room is quite noisy, but the energy and vibe which result in the noise level also make this a fun venue. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about saki and Umi's extensive ski list and made a perfect recommendation based on our likes. The wine list is adequate, accessible and well matched to the menu. Overall, a very good experience.
Went to Umi on recommendation of local during our visit to Seattle. Excellent sushi and sake selection. A little too loud of an atmosphere. Couldn’t talk across table without practically yelling. Would highly recommend based on food, but might try another sushi place in future if back visiting Seattle.
Cool restaurant with excellent food however the tables in the back with the metal seats are dreadfully uncomfortable! Do not sit at those tables.
The wasabi was very weak ..... the service very slow
The food was good
We ordered several different appetizers and then each got a main dish. It was ALL delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was great and the decor is really cool. It's a big restaurant with lots of seating.
Had a reservation, wasn’t immediately acknowledged. The hostess actually helped someone who walked in after me. We sat down and service wasn’t that attentive. It seemed over the capacity of the servers and, directly after our meal we were told to cash out as the table was being waited on by another reservation. Didn’t feel valued, just felt rushed. Not going to return.
Several people recommended Umi, but we weren’t impressed. The food was good (except for the fried chicken dish). We had a reservation, but were seated in a main thoroughfare. The website cited a 2 hour dining experience. It was not. And we Felt rushed. We ordered our entire meal and it was all delivered at once, very fast. Hardly enough room for all the plates. Several staff tried to take dishes before the food was finished (rushed feeling). Once finished it took forever to get the bill and final check. We would not go back. Also reviews indicated it was kid friendly. It was not. Wait staff tried to remove their chopsticks (my kids use them). It was very, very loud.
Maybe the finest and freshest sushi ever,
The restaurant smelled, the service was very slow and the food was flavorless or over sauced.
Birthday celebration! great dining experience and the food was exceptional!
They made it a special evening for my friends 30th birthday. Thanks!!
Definitely go here for amazing sushi and a lovely embiance!!
Love this place. excellent innovative Sushi. The Staff is very informed and can order for you. Love the food and the low key atmosphere. One complaint, It is really loud in there & the water tastes like chlorine. Overall, it is wonderful. Ask for a table not in middle of restaurant and bring your own water!
Excellent all the way around. Only bad thing was we found a hair in our edamame, and a hair on our utensils/napkin.
Awesome food and good service! Especially the tuna and salmon sushi were great.
Unfortunately the loud background music made a normal conversation very difficult and the air condition was a little too cold.
Excellent and creative sushi! Everything was delicious. Bring a sweater - a/c was a little too cool.
Perfect spot for locals and a great location to bring guests
I’ve eaten there before. First the attempted to put five of us into a table for four. My son is 6’4” and plays football. We couldn’t fit at a tiny table. The metal chair are SOOOOOOO uncomfortable. I’ve water there before and they don’t make you feel relaxed enough to enjoy your meal. Everyone at our table were complaining about them. The only good thing about our dinner was the Sake and our Waitress. She was amazing...
This was a FABULOUS find! The service was exceptional, the food was phenomenal and the vibe/atmosphere was very cool. This eclectic place was such a lucky find. The best part was that we stumbled upon it during happy hour. 5-8 (There were drink specials, appetizers, sushi, sashimi)... all for incredibly reasonable prices. I’m not usually one to write a review of anything, but this was an above & beyond experience.
